:) Hi all

I've been so wrapped up in holiday planning and Secret Santa that I nearly forgot our weekly weigh-in.

I weighed myself on Friday and I hadn't lost anything, but I'm back on track with my exercise video (and even enjoying it - worrying !!!).

Anyway I hope that you have all had a good week.

Good luck

Mandy xx

Keep the good work up Mandy and good luck to those trying to lose weight. :)

I lost one measly pound but I still weigh more than I did 2 weeks ago despite all those visits to the gym. But I won't let the ****** win even if it kills me (which it may well do!!! :rotfl: )!!!

A pound is a pound, well done. It may well be you are putting on muscle and this accounts for the lack of losing more than you thought, with you going to the gym. The main thing is that you sticking to a new regime and more importantly doing exercise which is so beneficial.

What are you doing with your food? Are you calorie counting or following some other diet? I always found calorie counting the easier way to lose weight, together with that diet programme I mentioned before Diet Assistant. It was really so easy to just go down to eating healthy foods, monitor the calorie intake with the Diet Assistant. I didn't need to go down to something silly like 1000 calories a day which is just plain hard work to stick to. Mostly it was about 1500 but you were allowed more to compensate for any exercise you did during the day. This allowed a steady weight loss, I really cannot recommend it highly enough.

You must be a mind reader Bev!!! I've just been thinking that maybe I was eating too much. I do eat the right things but maybe the quantities are too big. I haven't been calorie counting or anything else - just eating healthy food. Maybe I do need to calorie count or something. I've put "diet assistant" into Google but it comes up with a million things. Could you tell me which one you used please? I'd be really grateful. Thanks!!

I have stayed the same now for 3 weeks but i'm sticking to my healthy eating and not too bothered about maintaining the weight. :)

Well done Di on your 1lb loss :cool1:

Good luck for next week

Hi everyone

Well done to those that have lost or stayed the same this week, after a very stressful week i've managed to lose a 1lb.

Dilberry, I used the one from this site keyoe.com. What I noticed with it as I was losing weight I needed less calories to maintain a steady weight loss. The bigger you are the more calories you need to just move your body around which is probably why some people may struggle calorie counting because they think I will just go on the standard 1000 calories a day which is extremely hard for anyone to do. This programme realises people have different sizes to start off with and therefore different calorific needs. With this programme you key in the weight you want to be on a set date and it then calculates how many calories you need to take in to maintain a steady weight loss. My target weight was set for a year later (I wanted to lose about two stones) so I had a very gradual weight loss. However, I had lost the weight by the November from the July. I think this was because I was eating healthy foods all the time which made me feel full up so I didn't need to go to my maximum calorie intake every day. New food can be entered the once, which saves the fiddly calculating the second time you use it. It also gives you targets for the different types of food you should be eating so you can maintain a healthy diet.

I realise everyone is different when it comes to losing weight but this method (plus following You Are What You Eat eating suggestions) worked for me and if it could work for anyone else I would be pleased to have helped someone. :)

Thank you again Bev. I had a look at the Diet Assistant and decided to buy it. I've now realised what I should have realised ages ago - I'm eating far too much!! It's all healthy stuff so I just ate what I wanted but I really need to cut down or any amount of exercise won't work! I've been eating nearly 500 cals a day on breakfast alone!!! So, many thanks. It seems very complicated at the moment but I'm sure I'll get used to it!

Hi, I hope the programme helps you. Once you have entered your age, target weight and target date you will be all set. 500 cals for breakfast is a lot, especially if you are then going on to have lunch, tea and supper.

I also used the You Are What You Eat guide to healthy eating. Typically I had a herbal tea as soon as I got up, followed by fruit, lunch was protein with a salad, dinner grains of some description mixed with ground up seeds, salad sandwich for supper, then a banana for a snack before bed. The good thing about eating unprocessed healthy foods you can eat a lot more of it. The other thing I did was to cut out potatoes and substitute sweet potatoes.

The other thing you can eat but only small amounts is nuts, nuts are filled with good fats that actually help you to lose weight (EFAs essential fatty acids). There is one nut that isn't good if you have high blood pressure though but I cannot remember which it is.

Oats are a super food for filling you up and providing lots of energy, throw it a helping of sultanas for an added boost. We just have oats made with water and done in the microwave only takes a few minutes. 50 g of oats is only about 195 cals but the main thing is they do fill you up.

Good luck.
