Been watching hurricane coverage. Our friends in Seabrook took a direct hit been emailing but not calling. I don't figure they attempted to ride it out.

Soccer game today at 12:30 - WAY TO GO CAM!! Worked on my line up already. I think todays strategy will be play a strong defense the first half, let them run their offense down. Then unleash my forwards the second half and see if they have anything left. Sounds good right? Unless that is what they do..... Soccer Coach mind games.

So how did our darling diva's do?? I am sure your strategy worked like a charm, right?!

Where is Seabrook? I take it near Galveston / Houston?? Hope they're OK...

Well you have to go to YSH to get the full effect, because their potatoes are awesome! But I had found a recipe on line that said it was their potatoes, but there wasnt any horseradish in them. So, I make the recipe I found and just throw in some of that HR sauce to taste. I think I should be using the real HR stuff, but I'm not that crafty. They come out pretty good and somewhat close to the ones at YSH. Of course having to cook and clean up makes them a little less appealing too, but... If you want the recipe let me know.

Thats one thing good about my kids. They don't take the losses hard (thank God since we have a lot). Now if the soccer shack runs out of pizza or popcorn, then its the end of the world, but losing 7-2 is no biggie.

I never lost 7to2 I lost 3to1 and do not forget slush.

Hhhhmmm...strategy. The team that showed up today and called me "coach" was not the team that showed up last weekend. Wonder where my team went??

We won 2-1 but that 1 - ugh. My defense got caught flatfooted. Which in coach Gert's world should never, ever, never in a million years, happen. So that is a hard one to swallow. But I will get over it and not put those 3 players back on D together again. My offense did well. More of them are starting to work like a team. So thats good, I guess. Right?

Have not heard from friends in TX. Annie - Seabrook sits right on Galveston Bay SW of Houston and NE of Galveston. The pictures I have seen do not look good.

Annie - congrats on your 1st show! Your director or sponsor or whatever should be able to give you some "average show" stats. Then you should be able to figure out many shows you would have to have in a month to make the $$ you want/need to make. $400 in sales sounds pretty good - are you paid on wholesale vs. retail or a % ??

Just heard from Bob....


He and about 10 others just got back from a 6mile hike to Beaver Creek, AZ.
He said it was kewl but that his legs are sore and feet have had it!

At least we know that he is getting invloved and enjoying himself....he is doin' stuff that I only wish I could.

Thanks! Actually, I spoke to my sponsor last nite - I wasn't sure if my hosts order counted toward the total party sales or not...but it does...so it's actually a $500 party now...so that's good... I make more on online sales than thru parties....'cuz with a party I have to cover the samples and the host credit. I don't know exactly yet (duh) but I think in round numbers I "clear" only about 20% from a party but I get more like 30% from internet sales or something 'cuz I am not using samples or paying for the host credit. So it would take a LOT to make what I want (need) to make... So I made roughly $100 yesterday...but that's really still going toward the money I have put out to get started...so I am still in the hole! Oh well!!!!

Ophie and I go to a local restaurant to watch the 1PM games. Today we will have to suffer through the 4PM Miami/Arizona game because it is all that is on.

The boys are so funny....they have on football(the preshow stuff right now) and are playing black jack! I'm waiting for them to light up cigars.

DH is at his Redskins game...currently the Saints lead 7 - 6 in the 2nd quarter. It is HOT and MUGGY here today! Mid 90's...which is hot for this time of year...but the dew point is like 72 or 73 so it's NASTY hot out there. Our windows were all steamed up this morning when I got up! I took DS to his first swim practice at "the Bubble" today. OMG. I was DYING in there it was so freaking hot. It was like sitting inside this huge balloon in the sun. Indoor pools are always humid & yucky anyway but THIS was miserable. I was almost fainting after awhile just sitting there. I looked over at this other Mom next to me and she had sweat running down her neck and I had to wonder if I was all wet too...I was using DS's towel to wipe my forehead...then when they were done & I stood up I realized how the sweat was running off me and my underwear was all stuck. I know...TMI...but that's how hot it was in there! It was GROSS. I am staying inside the rest of the day!!! Meanwhile, it was a nice practice for him and he seemed to like it. They didn't work them too hard - nothing like summer swim team anyway. Maybe 'cuz it was the first day they took it easy? Small group of only about 16 this time (which is exactly what I'd hoped for). I don't know which practice we will do next weekend...with Dale and Amanda coming to stay...PLUS Sunday is their family reunion (although DH is blowing it off for another home game). We may do the Sat 4-5 practice. I don't know... I am anxious to see how crowded the Mon. eve. practice is...guess we'll know tomorrow 'eh?

So I am folding laundry and DISing and then I am off to Costco to see about changing a cell phone package. Gert got all starry eyed for a new Blackberry. Gert does not internet on her cell phone. Stymie not happy about new 2 year contract. Gert must go back and undo this.

OH Leetle Pirate sent my lovely pink razor swimming in the toilet. Gert needed new cell phone. Funny mine does not want to work anymore?? Geez I ran as fast as I could. It was only in there maybe 10 seconds. You would think a phone could handle a little submersion. GEEZ. Cheap things.

so your Razor couldn't swim, huh? Dougie's phone went for a long swim iin a friend's pool. He was kinda bummed when it dried out... and worked. Stinker thought he was gettin' a new one ("it was an accident, Dad. I don't know who knocked it off the table into the pool.")

A gal at the gym had just brought her iPhone home from the store (when they first came out - $$$?) when her 2 year-old flushed it.

Stymie is doing a site visit with Gallo manana. Gonna tour the project plant winery in Livingston and then go down and meet the onsite engineering team in Fresno. Keep your fingers crossed.

Gert is not too sure if she wants to move. But I will be really close to RJ! I guess we should know something by the end of the week.

Annie - heard from friends from Seabrook. They went to family in Baton Rouge and rode out Ike there. Their community has a website?? Cool that someone put that together. They are posting pictures of damage, homes, etc. Rumor has it at this point their house is still standing and not too damaged but she had not seen pictures yet. We are keeping our fingers crossed from them.

Gotta round up DD and get her to bed. Talk to you in the morning!
