Question: does anyone ever shut the water off to their house before they leave on vacation? I was talking to the plumber last week and he mentioned it would be a good idea - especially since my water heater is 10 years old and I never flushed it out and it could go at any moment andIdon'trememberanyoneevertellingmeIhadtoemptyandrefillsaidwaterholder. I really realy hate the idea of some pipe breaking and coming home to a mess. A friend's house flooded but they were just at a soccer game so there wasn't too too much damage. Ideas, thoughts, Sean???

Cheri: I agree with your plumber, I would turn the water off or replace the heater but 2000-3000 that seem a little high, is that the price your plumber gave you installed, because you can get them from home depot for cheaper...

I can help you with that one, Cheri. If you go into your reservation you should see the phone number to our booking offices. You can call there to make payments if you dont want to use the secure on line payment form.

And I know DH always turns off the hot water when we go away. We had one flood from the water heater in our old house, but that was in a basement. In this house its in the laundry/mud room which is attached to the playroom. We just had our 9th anniverary in this house, and although everything seemed OK, DH replaced the water heater in December. That was his project when I went away. :thumbsup2

Johnna, take it easy on the wine tonight. ;) :cool1: Have fun!

And yes, you can rebook on board for a dummy date then move it to a new date when later dates come out...or at least you could in the past. Thats what we did when we cruised in 2006 and we booked for November 2007, but then trasferred that to the 7/20 cruise.

Nice save with the picture, Ronnie Jo! :thumbsup2 If you run out let us know. Im sure we could dig up some. ;)

Not much happening this weekend. tomorrow the kids have 2 birthday parties and I wil spend most of the day cooking. Then of course Easter on Sunday...its way to early and cold for Easter!

Cheri - you can pay online..it is veri-sign secured..very very safe...I set mine up today to pay next week...gotta pay so I can book my CONSEEARGE!!!
(well..the second one I can book at 105 days...the first one I have to wait till the 90 days)

it's a 75 gallon and the plumber said it's more work. Will Home Depot install and haul away?

SueEllen!!

HI!

I have a question rasied by another thread (thanks Annie!):thumbsup2

Say you are cruising in July 2008 and you want to cruise again in, oh say, December 2010. You favorite TA already has you in mind for 2010 as those dates/itineraries are not out yet - but since you are cruising in a few months can you book onboard for the DCL discount and keep moving the sail date forward to December 2010? (assuming they don't release Dec 2010 before you cruise)

Or is this a pain in the rear end for the TA? Is transferring the ressie to the TA easy?

Just wondering.;)

Very easy to do. You can have that favorite TA listed as your agent on the reservation when you book it (whoever that wonderful person may be ;) )
Then when the other dates are released the date you have booked as a 'dummy' date can be modified so you keep your on board offer (discount and SBC) so you get the best rates.

I'd replace the heater (like the plumber suggested) but it's about $2000-3000 and between giving DCL and the government extremely large amounts of cash.... then again, compared to the above two entities, a new water heater wouldn't be that big a deal. :headache:

SE - I'd rather not give my CC# over the internet. There is a phone # to call listed on the web site, yes?

Yes ma'am--it's on your client page, but it is 888-374-0494, or you can always call me and I can take care of it too if you want. :)

SE - what's easiest? And can we really keep moving it over & over? I really am thinking about using it for the NEW ships....but that's so far out....is that feasible?! OH, and just BTW, you DID get Katie & I added to the group dinner thing, right?!

No decisions yet on what DS and I will do for fun next week. The Metro during rush hour (which seems like is most of the day) will cost DS and I a total of $20 in round trip Metro fares to go down to Chinatown/Gallery Place (if we go to the Spy Museum). That admission will cost the 2 of us $33. Then we ride over to the Smithsonian stop on the Mall and check out the cherry blossoms and maybe hit the Museum of Natural History or an Art Museum (all of the Smithsonian ones are free and the Museum of American History is closed now for renovation). I'm guessing lunch down there in one of the museum cafes will probably run $15-20. Oh, and parking at the Metro for the day is $4.75. So our "cheap date" will end up costing about $73!!:sad2: May have to skip the Spy Museum and save it for another time........Metro fare is almost 1/2 if we wait for 9:30 to go down & if we come back before 3:00. We could just do the cherry blossoms & a couple of "freebie museums". There's still some stuff at the Air & Space Museum down there that hasn't been moved out to Dulles...and I love the East Wing of the Art museum...I haven't been to the Hirshorn in a really long time....so I don't know...will decide NEXT WEEK when I get a better weather forcast!:goodvibes

Yes, you can move the dates an infinite number of times if needed and keep the on board offer (and if you have a great TA ahem... She can make the changes any number of times you wish.) :teeth:

Hey--I was just at the Gallery Place/Chinatown stop (read VERIZON center--BON JOVI!!!!!) Tara just had a field trip up there on Tuesday.
We almost went to the spy museum while we were there, but she just went to the Newseum for her field trip, as well as the Mall, and the Smithsonian, and more. This was one of the first field trips I wasn't able to chaperone :(

DC this time is year is beautiful. We went a couple of years ago for the Cherry Blossom Festival, and saw the Mickey statues that were on display too.

Yes ma'am--it's on your client page, but it is 888-374-0494, or you can always call me and I can take care of it too if you want. :)

We have a "client page"?! What's that? This is something with DU?:scared: I am glad to hear the booking and re-booking thing is common practice...so if we book it onboard we get their 10% discount or whatever + some amt. of OBC. Then is there more cr. from DU to get it moved over? The wheels in my head are spinning so fast!:rotfl: Funny you were just in DC - I do keep forgetting we're sorta close!:goodvibes

Cheri - a 75 gal heater is more work than ____? What? A 50 gal? Ummm. OK. So it's a little taller... That's like I would think they should charge LESS to install 12x12 tiles VS 4x4's 'cuz there's LESS of them...but that's not how they look at it for some reason... But I would think a water heater is a water heater...:confused3 I would be calling around on that one!

OH SUEELLEN!!!!!!

You said that if we payoff with Disney Visa, we get an onboard credit...is that for each reservation, because technically, we have 4!!!

1-800- SUE ELLEN sounds about right :teeth: You always crack me up Cheri!

Annie, you can have Dreams already listed as your TA when you rebook onboard so it doesn't have to be transferred over, and yes, you would get any shipboard credit we are offering.

Betsy, as long as it's not one of the cabins booked in a group (with a GRP# on it), or one that has the onboard booking discount offer you will get the additional $50 sbc for using the Disney Visa, as long as all payments are made with the Disney Visa. The terms/conditions issued by Disney Visa and DCL do not allow the offer to be combined with other discounts.

Sue Ellen

:grouphug: Hola Peeps....

Annie, if you go to the Client Services section of our site, here http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/reservations/res-check.cfm youc an enter your reservation ID and password (on the left) you can review your reservation and all that fun stuff.

:thanks: I totally forgot about having a DU ressie # & that I set up a DU password A YEAR AGO on the 22nd!! WOW ya'll!!!!! I can't believe I just dug thru this MESS of all this paperwork I've been accumulating and today is one year to the day since our deposit!! :rotfl:

OK, so can I just say that this whole unemployment thing is putting a damper on the fun of vacation planning?!:headache: Alls I can see are $$$$$ everywhere I call!! Can anybody tell me what the DCL cancellation policy is if we reserve some things on CC thru DCL at 90 days or whatever and then we decide later we want to cancel them? I WANT to plan something for every day BUT...just "what if" I'm not working by then still and feel that we should cut back on our excursions? We already have the Dolphin thing on our cr. card and have reserved the CS for the Atlantis thing separately. We want to parasail...maybe snorkel...maybe stingray on CC...I don't know. Definitely probably going to parasail...but just wondered what the deal is if we reserve then change our minds about the other stuff?

Yesterday I went back on the car rental binge. Cheapest deal I've found so far for 3 days was for $141 thru Costco for a "full size" thru Budget. Renting for 3 days lets us stop between MCO and AKV for our beer run since we'd have to wait for Noon if we rented on Sun. OK, so then today I just called FL Tours and Happy Limo to compare car services to car rentals. There are some surcharges & tolls that I think FL Tours builds into their prices...so the prices are comparable but I really liked the lady at Happy Limo (the place recommended by Mousesavers). She gave me the ph. # to this Albertsons place that we could call or fax an order to so it would be ready (water, beer, liquor etc). She said it's like a Walmart but w/o clothes?!:confused3 Anyway, bottom line after Mousesavers coupon and then WITH TIPS the 2 trips would be around $210-215 or about $75 more than renting.:sad2: I like the idea of the door to door service BUT....alls I can see are $$$. She said for July we should reserve by the end of April.

OH - and I got our flights changed again yesterday! Last change a few weeks ago was to a later (3:15) direct flight. They have since dropped the one with the xfer thru ATL and made it direct again at 12:45 so I called & got us moved up again to that one.:woohoo: Let's hope there are no more BIG changes to the schedule!:rolleyes1 I like this one! It gets us back to Baltimore on Sun. at 2:52!:thumbsup2

Meanwhile, my grandmother is now bed ridden and then we found out yesterday that DH's grandmother is about to die.:sad1: She has been sick with Cancer for like a year. Hospice started coming in just before the holidays and now they're saying could be hours...could be days. So we're going over there this evening.

Quick check in!!

No time to catch up on posts now. Hope its all very funny.:thumbsup2

Everyone have a great Easter.

We are headed to the ranch with an impromtu ski day scheduled for Monday. RJ head up to Sierra Summit. Cousin McDougald runs the ski school there so there is a family discount on Monday!:thumbsup2

Everyone travel safely if you are headed out!

Talk to you Monday!!

Oh Annie! Im so sorry to hear that. (((HUGS))) and prayers to you all.

D'OH! If I looked at my own web site, I might remember that Katie can "DU" or answer anything SE can. <slaps head>
