johnna- ask for Sharkgrit or equal to be added..we do epoxy floors in restaurants and fire stations..must have grit or it will be slick!

i have awoken from a nap and feel worse..my cold medicine from this am has worn off..oh and short person (not DH) called at 11 that her head and stomach hurt..she too slept all afternoon but is now doing jumpingjacks!! That is the last time I go get her when I am dying on the couch!!

So I have been sitting at this computer ALL DAY working on the job hunt thing.:headache: I am tired of all of this "automation" crap out there! I would much rather just email and attach my resume. But so far it seems like everybody wants you to upload or cut & paste your resume to submit it online into an job search service like Oracle or something. Well, that's a bunch of time consuming BS 'cuz it loses all of the formattting when you do that and you have to do it over & over each time. So I wasted how much time over the weekend trying to make it LOOK like a resume should look. And now I have to complete all of these freaking online profiles and answer 20 questions and then try to "fix" my now screwed up looking resume that didn't copy over right.:headache: :headache: :headache: :headache: :headache: And to make it worse, my old computer is so slow... The Washingtonpost.com site was absolutely excrutiating. I may have to go down to the basement & use DS's computer when I go on their site. To top it off I barely found any jobs I was interested in.:sad1: I always hated the old newsprint mess but this is crazy too. It's after 5:00 now...time for happy hour!:rotfl:

:yay: Annie Annie!!:yay:

Lookie what I found!!

$179 -- Bahamas 'Atlantis' Resort (Regularly $380)

OK its only through July 1st but I can hope for the next one right!?

 That's AWESOME! I definitely want to know if it comes up for our cruise dates!!!! :thumbsup2 I have been debating over what to do about the Comfort Suites...to book it or not for that Friday just to know we have the option...

I am in such spending funk already from being newly unemployed!:sad1: I wanted to get an underwater housing for my little Canon powershot & somebody posted a link to a place that has one for pretty cheap ($120) but I know I really SHOULDN'T order it right now - but it's something we would use on vacations always... Meanwhile, we still haven't signed up for insurance yet!:scared: Finally got the termination stuff from the old ins. co. in the mail today - COBRA would cost $1,800 / month! :rotfl2: Yeah. Right. (DH's work wanted copies of this paperwork as proof of needing to switch when it's not open enrollment). I've been calling all of our doctors to see if they still take this HMO stuff...most were in the book they gave him (but it was last yrs. book tho) but they wouldn't come up online for me to check so I decided the safest thing was to call them. I had to reschedule one of DS's appts. that was this week and then one of his doctors doesn't take insurance at ALL - but I used to be able to submit the receipts and get a partial reimbursement. So if we go with the HMO plan we can't go to her at all. Sigh. She gave me the name of someone else to call to see if they had any openings we could get him into...Will call this one tomorrow. Our dentist isn't a participant and this dental plan doesn't cover any orthodontia (my old ins. covered 50%). So now I'm thinking we won't even sign up for the dental plan. It's $36 / month but if it's not going to cover our dentists / needs why sign up, right? This whole no job thing sucks all the way around! I've called so many people this week. The Flex Fund place said we could make an adjustment to our dependent care contribution & they're OK with it BUT DS's daycare place "has to get back to me" about whether or not we can do a temporary suspension. I was like "I'm sure you can understand why I don't want to pay you $80 a week so I can drive him over here to catch the bus when I'm AT HOME and he can catch a bus over there!":headache: Hopefully they will get back to me tomorrow about that one.:sad2:

I remembered a certificate I'd earned to DSW Shoe Warehouse that I went to dig out today 'cuz I knew it was good until March something. Expired on 3/2. So there went basically a free pair of shoes down the drain.

This is all very stressful!! Oh Captain!!!! Where are you?! Come out, come out wherever you are!

Hey - I am back onto the whole Palo brunch topic! I found this debate going on another thread:

"No, I am positive that it is one reservation per person, not per stateroom. The glitch that allowed you to book two reservations has been fixed since you last cruised in '06. It is now one reservation per person, not per stateroom. If there are two adults in one stateroom they can, indeed, book two Palo reservations, however each reservation would have to be for them to eat alone, not for both of them to eat together. Once a passenger is included on a Palo reservation (dinner/brunch/tea) they cannot be included on any other Palo reservations for the same meal.

For example, when making reservations for Palo for our December cruise I had three rooms linked with a total of 6 adults (2 per stateroom). I was unable to get a table for 6 so I had to make two reservations. I made one reservation for a table for 4 with myself and three of our traveling companions and a second reservation for DH and the 4th companion. Therefore, I had a reservation in my name and one in DH's name, even though we were in the same stateroom. Again, the glitch that used to allow you to book one reservation per room has been fixed."

I didn't know there was a limit to how many times you could book Palo! This first bit sounds to me like if we do the group brunch that uses up our one allotment for Palo - so we wouldn't be able to book dinner on our own?! :confused3 Anybody else know more about this?!

NEXT subject: Am I the only one that keeps opening up onto page 28 of this thread lately?

Anne,
You are worrying too much about Palo. Just book one dinner, one brunch and you are all set. No issues there.:)

Hey ya'll... Well, I finally got a chance to talk to DH last nite just before going to bed about the Palo Brunch idea...:rotfl2: The look on his face said it all!!:lmao: As soon as I said it would probably be about 1:00 before we got onto the island he was like NO! So we are officially "out" now for the group brunch...I will email SueEllen today. I had thought he might be interested in a laid back morning but he doesn't want to miss a minute of CC.:goodvibes

Beano sez no to brunch as well....he doesn't wanna give up his "Island" time.

Bets: are you feeling any better?

this picture is some beach in Nassau...dunno which one though

What!? Now there is no brunch?? I really want to go. I figure with the fairest family of them all (no really I mean that) we could miss a little extra sun time and it would be OK.

So is anyone still planning on brunch?? 'Cuz my husband nixted Palo for dinner. :confused3 Guess I have to go consult that really cool website.:thumbsup2

Speaking of fair skin - we used to "go tan" before trips to Hawaii, etc. I know the trend is more towards spray tans these days. And that is where my knowledge on the subjects ends. Can you still tan the old fashioned way to help get your melanin ready for a cruise??:confused3

As Cheri would say I would say....

DISCUSS...

I would still like to go to brunch...it's my favorite meal on the ship :cloud9:

tanning :rolleyes1

I go to a tanning salon about a month or so before our vacations...don't wanna burn doncha know. Yes I know it's bad for me, but the burning of my redheaded skin is also not good. And besides, my vanity takes over......I look SO much better with a tan :rotfl2:

I'm really bad about tanning too. I figure with the burns I had in my youth, any damage is already done. I actually have scarring from where I paled when I was 16 (yeah, love that baby oil burn  ). I probably wont go tanning before this cruise because being mid July I should have some sun before then. But I am thinking before my cruise next May, a visit to the salon may be in order (I know I know, its bad, but a ton of Disers and some coworkers are going to be seeing me in a bathing suit and thats scary!:scared1: ).

I don't know about Palo brunch. Im really torn. Knowing my luck if I dont book brunch it will rain and Ill be kicking myself. I could wait for brunch (again) until my 4 day cruise next year, without the kids, but where that is the podcast cruise, I have no way of knowing if an event will be going on at that time. Hmmm????

RJ! Let's do brunch!!:woohoo:

So they do still have some sort of tanning bed? :rotfl: I am laughing at myself. So out of the loop on the tanning thing.:rotfl: OK will be checking that out before cruise. Add it to the list

DH says about brunch "eh give me a plate of egg and pancakes and I am a happy man"

I can honestly say that I have never, ever once been in a tanning bed / salon in my life!!:) I will try to sit outside a couple hours here & there on the weekends just before vacation to get my "base". I am fortunate that I am one who tans easily so that burning on vac. doesn't usually happen unless I go out for 8 hours a day every day for 5 days. DS takes after me but DH is fair and always has to wear like a 30 spf so he never really gets a TAN he just gets a little pink. Then he usually has to put a shirt on later too.

Anyway, it's almost lunchtime (yummm Ramen noodles!:lmao: ) I am afraid I will sit here while I job hunt & snack myself into a few extra LBS!:scared:

STOP saying that 'R' word!!! It is forever banned now! :lmao: :rotfl: It is not allowed to rain on any portion of this trip!!!! (Insert foot stomping stern faced smiley here!)
