I have now found something that scares me more than FM's....

SOCK MONKEYS!! What the heck!!!
Fodd Network had a giant sock monkey cake with flames and flashing eyes...ugh!!

(rick wants to know what happened with me and a monkey that makes me terrified of them!!)

Camcolt,
I have sea bands as well. I bought 2, one specifically for me and one for anybody else - most likely DS6. I would be shocked if DS10 gets seasick. DS17 gets altitude sickness when we go skiing or up in the mountains. Hmmm, it just occuerred to me if he will get altitude sickness in space...

Cheri,
Are you going to email out the updated final list? Are you still going to specify the delivery date?

Betsy,
I had to look up what is a sock monkey. I saw the confetticakes.com cake. The monkey is ugly but the flames looks kinda cool. I'd repace the monkey with Mickey or my fav, Donald Duck.

:lmao: Tell Rick he is not alone! :rotfl:

OK, so yesterday was a LONG day. I picked DS up at his aqua camp at 4:00 & we drove very s-l-o-w-l-y the mile between the indoor and the outdoor pools. We went in around 4:30, he changed into his jammer & we started helping with set-up. His team did their warm-ups 5-5:30 and the the other team started their warm-ups at 5:30. At 5:50 all of a sudden WHAM!! The heavens opened with these HOOGE quarter size hard raindrops started pelting down with no warning!! It was complete CHAOS! Everybody was scattered all over the place!! They started paging that everybody had to get off the pool deck and into the bath house. As soon as I got smacked with the first 2 or 3 killer raindrops I grabbed our big canvas bag and ran for it. I left the cooler & chairs & charged for cover. I still got soaked. DS WAS with me initially but he took off running with a towel and that was the last I saw of him. It was such mess with 200 ppl trying to cram frantically into the bath house!! DH was at the far end of the pool in a meeting for the timers so he also got soaked. It POURED HARD for about 15 or 20 minutes. So we had a 30 min. or so rain delay.

Around 7:15 the clouds started getting dark again. DS's first event is #11. They were starting event #10 around 7:30 when we heard thunder. At least there was a WARNING this time!:rotfl: So we had time to clear the pool area and get to our cars before it started raining. This time we were postponed until 8:05 but really it was more like 8:15 before they resumed. DS swam pretty good on his 50 free. He was about 1/4 of a second slower than last week BUT they had 2 heats and he won his heat and came in 4th over all!!!:woohoo: They gave out "heat winner" ribbons for coming in first in their heat and you would think that thing is made of SPUN GOLD!! He was so-o proud!! He was showing everybody who walked by! It was cute. THEN he did his 50 backstroke and actually went STRAIGHT! YAY! He didn't hit the ropes once and dropped another 7 seconds off his best time and came in 4th with that too!:dance3: They had to stop the meet at 9:30 but he was done with his events. They got in everything except the Fly. We're pulling into the garage and it dawned on me that he'd been gone since 7:15 AM at one pool or another! Then he says "I want dinner! Can we have scrambled eggs?" We'd only snacked all evening since he can't really eat much and swim...so I took in the 2 tons of wet towels and the bag and everything and then we ate my famous scrambled egg sandwiches at like 10:00.:sad2: :rolleyes1 Then I had to unload his lunchbox from camp and re-pack his day bag for camp today ETC. I didn't even get him in bed until 11:00. It was LONG day.

Anne - I also could use some assistance on the ironing thing!! :goodvibes I haven't really started packing yet and am still futzing with door signs ETC.

TRM - Does the West 580 sound like you??? I listen to kfog and they said something about Tracy and the West 580!!

2 more days of work and I am officially on vacation.:cool1:

Tandemteam - welcome to the DIS-Functional Wonderpeeps!! The countdown is ON! :woohoo: No teens for us...just me, DH and DS11...

Just saw a commercial / promo for Heroes!! It returns on Sept. 22!!!! Mark your calendars!

Not so fast, Beano. I could use your services. My great uncle passed away. Not to be insensitive, but I dont have time for death this week. :sad2:

I do love the final countdown though. I did that this morning when I came in from my run. I said to DH "6 more runs!". :cool1: Of course then I sit on my butt for the next 10 days, minus the walking around Epcot day. :rolleyes1

Bets: I am getting my nails done today @ 1....so I won't be able to talk on your way home  ....and now sock monkeys??? you are weird ;) :lmao:

Annie: :thumbsup2 Congrats to Jared. He should be proud of the progress he has made!

ironing???? You guys are actually ironing? I did that a few years back...spent like 4 hours ironing all the clothes. Opened the suitcases: wrinkled anyway!

No ironing for me man! If something needs it when I get on the ship, I'll just send it out for pressing, the laundry prices aren't that bad.

Sorry to hear of your loss. :(

But I think I might be a bit far away to help you out...

2 days and I'm done. Kaput. No Mas. Go bye-bye.

"Donde esta Senor Beano?"

He's in DisneyWorld! :mickeyjum

What good are you then? ;)

Thanks for the condolences. He was 88 and in the past month or so he has had heart surgery, a collapsed lung, blood infections...you name it. So, we expected it. It was basically a matter of time. :sad2:

CamColt...sorry to hear about Great Uncle _____. Must look at bright side tho...better this week than next. At least you are home for your family.

OK - question for all you seamstress folks out there (UhhUmmm...May...TRM...Cheri)! IF I wanted to temporarily hem something for DS that he will grow into ONE DAY could I do this with that hem tape stuff (like if I just sort of tacked it in a few places) or is that stuff pretty permanent?!:confused3 :rolleyes1 And if that WOULD work, can I get it at Walmart?!

Yay Beano - you are REALLY doing the countdown dance!:dance3: DS said this AM that he wants a day off!:rotfl2: He is tired of all the 7:30 am swim practices & camp already!! I was like "one more week babe"!:thumbsup2

So I just spent like 1 1/2 hours downloading & clearing pics off of all of my camera cards. I am TERRIBLE about cleaning off my cards. I think part of my problem is that I bounce between 2 cameras (a digital SLR and a point & shoot) and I have 2 cards for each camera and I take too many pics. Anyway. They're done. I made sure I had everything stored in a folder somewhere and all 4 are cleaned off - so I should be able to take like another 1500 or so pics!:thumbsup2 DH got me a new underwater digital camera for my birthday.:yay: Need to read a little about how to use that too. I really just wanted an underwater case for my little Powershot but apparently I have the only Powershot Canon never made a case for!!:confused3 Anyway, he got me the Vivitar 6.0 megapixel ViviCam so it also does short flicks but I don't know what to do with those once I take them!:rotfl: (Beano I need some pointers on what to do with them!) I wanted to be able to download our underwater pics with everything else and was tired of the quality of the film underwater cameras. I thought it would be good for when we do the dolphin swim in Nassau! It was not a real expensive camera but it's rated to 30' and I hope will take better pics than film. I got a 2 pack of SD cards - a 2 GB card for the new camera 'cuz I figured little movies would eat up more memory and a spare 1 GB card.

Not much I suppose... :confused3

BUT, I can carry a tall mug of beer in one hand and a video camera in the other!

(Something you're sure to witness time and again on the cruises!!) :lmao:

Annie, That's stuff that I am aware of is permanent. How long is too long? If it is an inch or shorter, just leave be. If it is an inch, just tuck under and use painters tape (blue) or use 4 saftey pins. Pin 2 of them at the seam lines and the other 2 just slightly showing through the front fabric.

If more than 2 inches, I staple. But this makes a cuff. I fold up (good fabric together, fold over half again so the good side is showing. Then I use regular staple to staple the inside fold. It hides. I fold like the letter N. I staple at the top of the V of the N. Get it? I am stapling from the bottom. You have to not staple at the 12 and 6 clock spot so that it can still fold away flat. It's hard to describe. Sorry I am not there to help you.

CamColt, I too, am sorry for the loss of your relative.

Ok, well that makes you well worth it...especially if its my beer. :lmao: Why do I have a feeling thats not gonna fly? ;)

So, I need a big slap here. Any volunteers? ;) Im sitting here working and listening to the podcast. With a week to go til the trip I have packing and cleaning and errands, etc... to get done for THIS trip. The podcast is talking about Christmas in July and all I can think of is my December trip. Ummmm, now is not the time for this!!! :headache:

I checked my flight today...it was 1 1/2hours late. I am NOT liking that!

Thanks for trying to explain all that May!:rolleyes1 It's not a big deal...but I guess most people WANT THEIR HEMS TO STAY IN huh?!:confused3 :rotfl: Oh well. It will keep until he's older (taller).

There have been a LOT of military helicopters flying over today (always in pairs). They make me nervous 'cuz they're loud & low & THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, THUMP when they fly over. Probably going between Andrews AFB and Ft. Detrick in Frederick. I do not think they were the Presidents going to Camp David or anything. That's usually a much bigger convoy of them and these have been over several times. I suppose helicopters are better than when they deploy the F16's out of Andrews 'eh?!:goodvibes THOSE are really scary to hear out of the blue. They went out EARLY on a Sun. morning a few weeks ago. Like at 5:45. They woke me up. I never did see anything on the news about them tho which was odd. They usually explain them. I never saw them, but could hear them...I went out on the back steps in my nightshirt...they're so fast they're hard to see 'cuz they're never where you HEAR them. Sometimes I feel like living only 25 miles out of DC is not far enough if "something" happens.:sad2:

Making a batch of homemade hotdog chili - house smells like fried onions! (Yummm!) But I didn't start it early enough - don't have time to finish it up before picking up DS from camp tho - I haven't put the meat in yet so I think it will be OK to just leave covered on the stove for a couple of hours?! Will finish it later and make a batch of coleslaw! I've been craving "WV slaw dogs"! We have "cruise haircuts" at 4:00  so I have to pick him up a little early. Must get purty'd up b4 meetin' the peeps ya know!:rolleyes1 More impt. than hot dog chili!!;)

I am sorry to hear about your uncle, Katie.

Sean rec'd his room # for the second sailing but rather than post it here for all the world's eyeballs, I will PM or email it to all y'all. Please add it to your deck plans. (I know you will all be printing them out from the web site with their pretty leetle colorful boxes and incredibly accurate arrows :rolleyes1 )

and, um... Beano go bye-bye???? :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Sorry--I'm still around. Haven't had much time the last few days.
Trevor has come down with Scarlet Fever!!! OMG--we have got to get him better before we leave. He's miserable and STOOPID MD doesn't believe in antibiotics, so I'm not sure what to do...may take him to a Doc-in-a-box to get someone else to give the Antibiotics--this isn't something to let run its course!! I'm flipping out. He's miserable.

I won't even go into the MRI on my brain they had to do yesterday (EEK!) Will have results soon, but oh my...Steve said they were just looking to see if there was a brain there...and asked if we got a discount if they didn't find anything :rotfl:

I am so waiting for some R&R on this cruise...can't take much more of this.
SE

PS--I usually have a suitcase full of shoes for us, so I'm a shoe person too.
