Tegan is a lovely 6 month old Irish Terrier that belongs to my sister. She met my dog, Pebbles, a mature 12 year old Jack Russell Terrier, for the first time today. Judging by their first interaction, I'd say Tegan is a very balanced pup!
Hope no-one minds me going OT re. JRTs. We got her in 1985 when she was just a puppy (6 months?) It was before JRTs got famous via "Eddie" on Frasier. I don't think there were any *official* JRT rescues back then so she ended up at the Humane Society.
Apparently it was one of those "Wouldn't that cute puppy be a great gift for Grandma" situations. Grandma wanted a lap dog, and never housetrained her. Among other issues, the cute puppy apparently tunneled her way right through a wall when she was shut in the laundry room to stop her messing up the rugs. The poor energetic little thing.
I knew the breed and adopted her immediately. She was reliably house broken in less than a week, she was incredibly smart and easily trained, and a tired JRT is a good JRT! Her energy level did decrease after she was 10.
Now that was ages ago, and much though I love JRTs I don't think I have the energy to take a puppy today. I would definitely consider a senior, sometime, but only after my present senior pups leave us. Great dogs.
I love Tegan! She looks so much like an Airedale, that I was surprised at how she looked next to the JR. Is this going to be smaller than an Airedale (I realize she is only 6 months old) or do you have a pretty large JR?
Oh, your puppy is beautiful! We have a Scottish terrier, they have very similar faces (except for the color and the ears). Enjoy her, she looks like a real sweetheart!

Irish Terrier's do look a lot like Airedale's, smaller though. Tegan is as tall as she's going to get right now, she'll likely just fill out a little more. My Jack is normal size - not small, not tall, just normal. My sister had an Irish before - they're a great, sturdy terrier!
