I am 5 MONTHS post surgery on my back (discectomy) and was doing fantastic. I spent yesterday at a horse show with my students and by the end of the day I had developed a pain in my lower back, only on the right side.

It's in the spot this person is covering with their hand (maybe a hair lower).:

I didn't do anything out of the ordinary lifting twisting etc. I wasn't riding. It was mostly me standing around. I have been to MANY shows since my surgery and never ended the day painful like this. I don't recall doing anything that would have "pulled a muscle" but I did give a few of the kids (small ones) a leg-up. And the trailer was about 18" off the ground and getting in and out of it a few times may have tweaked something...

BUT, the pain worsens when I breath in.

Is it possible that I am having kidney issues or something else? When I got home I was exhausted and after dinner took a nap. When I woke up I felt nauseous and super tired. This morning I am not nauseous or tired, but the pain is still there. Ice didn't help, but a Naproxen took the edge off.

I AM GOING TO GO TO THE DOCTOR TOMORROW...so don't freak out over me asking. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts.

i would think it's muscle pain (rather than kidney) if it hurts when you breath. i would just take some tylenol or motrin today (or a muscle relaxer if you have one) and don't strain it. bet it will be feeling better by tomorrow

Ohh! Good idea Hadn't considered a muscle relaxer! I have Flexeril.

how did the flexeril affect you when you took it before?
i'm just curious because i took it once and it knocked me on my butt!!!! seriously, i was OUT for hours! :lmao: as soon as it hit me it was like i was drunk or something. couldn't walk or anything. my kids got a real kick out of seeing mom "wasted"!!! :rotfl:
and i only took 1/2 of the prescribed amount!!!!
my mom, on the other hand, was taking a higher dose than i was supposed to and she took it regularly and was fine at work and driving and everything :confused3

My sister is like you. If she so much as LOOKS at a pill, she is out for the count...a drooling zombie in the corner.

Me, it hardly touches. I have a full pill on board right now and there is no discernible difference. I have taken it before and it is always the same. Maybe I need one and a half.

Even though it is low down it is possible that you have pneumonia-just something else to think about.

My cousin was just treated for pnuemonia. She was complaining of back pain too. Hmmm..not good.
