My mother has never been a great cook, when I was growing up we had fried chicken, spaghetti, pot roast or tacos every night. EVERY NIGHT. Because my father is the pickiest eater on the face of the planet, nothing ever had any spice or flavor, just salt and pepper.

Sounds familiar. My dad didn't like chicken. Didn't like the smell of fish cooking (for a guy that grew up in San Francisco? Go figure). What dad DID like was a SCHEDULE. Monday night was spaghetti. The sauce was made from one of those "envelope" mixes, a can of tomato sauce and water. Mmmmm. NOT. Tuesday was hamburgers on sourdough bread leftover from Monday. Wednesday was "mystery meat casserole" night where mom tried to find something NEW to do with ground beef. And when I learned I was allergic to cooked peppers. LOL. Thursday and Sunday were open. Friday was often chipped beef on toast and dad made that. He also "made" the spaghetti sauce on Mondays. Sometimes we'd have english muffin "pizzas", which I made after the age of 10. Saturday night was ravioli (frozen Lucca Beef Ravioli and their frozen sauce, which, comapred to the dry mix stuff was HEAVEN). Since the only time we had poultry was the Thanksgiving turkey or boneless skinless chicken breasts cubed into casserole type dishes, I didn't learn how to cook chicken until I was in my 30's.....

Let me just say that I like the forecast for this weekend at DL from Weather Underground:

Friday: Clear. High of 79F. Winds from the West at 5 to 10 mph.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy. Low of 59F. Winds less than 5 mph.
Saturday: Mostly cloudy. High of 81F. Winds from the South at 5 to 10 mph.

Morning ladies. I didn't read back because we got home last night after being gone all weekend with cheer. We had an away game in Placerville and left straight from there to go to San Jose for a comp yesterday. Katy broke her hand AGAIN during PE on Friday afternoon and although I took her to the doc she couldn't get in to see the ortho till this morning. Her doc said NO sports for at least 2 weeks before he even knew it was broke but her cheer team only has 12 girls and they needed her so she did the football game and just used her left hand and the same yesterday at the comp. To be honest I would have not had her do it and I was on pins and needles that she would hurt her GOOD hand etc but I am SO proud of her for hanging tough. Now I am just nervous about what the ortho says since she broke it in almost the same spot as last time. They were worried about her growth plate the last time and I am afraid of what it will do breaking it AGAIN. She is a base in cheer which means she lifts people up and catches them. So we shall see.

The good news is even with Katy's hand, 1 girl with the stomach flu and 1 girl who went to the wrong park (don't get me started on that one LOL) and their music got screwed up they still took 2nd place and qualified for nationals at Disneyland!! Our jr pee wee's pee wees and midgets all took 1st place!!! SO proud of all our girls!

So get ready for an invasion of cheerleaders in March LOL.

Hope everyone is well and hope I didn't miss anything important!! :)

Have a great day everyone!

Morning, ladies!
This weekend was exhausting for some reason. I need a nap! :faint:

Hope all the ladies in DL right now are having a great time!!! pixiedust:

Beth could it be that you had a house full of teenage girls :confused3 Just thinking about that makes me tired!

I am just praying that it cools down to mid 70's on Friday. I am really tired of being all hot and sweaty :headache:
I know the ladies from the north are looking forward to wearing their summer gear, but I personally cannot wait to wear jeans and a hoodie :cool2:

Hey ladies! I'm standing in line to get in to the park. Yesterday i ran into Melody and Carol and scouted out Jessica at MTP. This morning i saw Carol again and ran into Stacie at La Brea. I knew about the CHOC walk this weekend but I didn't know it meant that the park didn't open till 10! We arrived at the parking garage at 7:30 (free parking due to the walk it turns out) and were told by the CM about the delay. Getting into DTD was insane! The walk blocked La Brea so it was a challenge getting in. I wonder why they don't do this much earlier like the half marathon so it doesn't bring on all of the crowd congestion. It's definitely put a wrench in our schedule :( we were planning on leaving at noon- I don't think we will be able to do much today.
Hi Jen!

It was fun to see you!:goodvibes

Ladies, let me tell you.
I will never go on the weekend of the CHOC walk again.
:headache::headache::headache:
I have never seen the lines so long, and like Jen said, DTD was absolute nuts. You couldn't get to DL, without waiting forever for the walkers to get out of the way. I was not a happy camper. The event is for a good cause, but for someone who is not involved, it was insane to do anything. Of course it didn't help that the park didn't open until 10:00. Every one is up by then and ready to go.

Well enough of my griping. It was wonderful to have my grandchildren along. It was very sweet to have ringside seats reserved for everything.
Alladdin's flying carpet is still broken. I guess?

Tomorrow we are off to Oregon to visit my sister. My brother and Dad are coming too. We are going to go through photos that my mom had. Get everything sorted per family. Coming back on Sunday. So busy getting ready for that.

Have a nice week.:goodvibes

You know, we seem to have quite the able and willing middle aged team. Surely Disney will just create positions for us. Lisa can tell the boys in hard hats what to do. I can make sure the Main Street horses and drug sniffing dogs are well taken care of, and you can make everything go smoothly, no OSHA or Labor Board violations and the like.

It could happen.

Have fun. I have never been to Reno.

I totally knew that you would cave. Safe for me to exert the whole peer pressure thing since I am not in the photo.

Thanks, we had a great time. :) Low key, just hanging out, it was great. We did gamble a little (and lost) but with the resort credits and the major upgrade we got (to the new tower and a special suite!) we really made out. :) I just gotta say, I loved the jacuzzi tub. lol

Most of you probably saw this already on Facebook, but just had to share here because I am so excited about it! I've been paying for this little guy for 6 months, and I am excited to have finally brought him home! :hyper:

Oh that is so cute!!!!! :) I love him!

Happy Saturday Divas! :wave2:
I'm a proud mama today and I want to share what I saw in our local paper today..
Yep, that's my son on the cover!!! :lovestruc

Our football chapter submits an article with pics from all of the teams. I am the photographer for our team I am lucky that they liked this one enough for the cover. This was icing on the cake after our 30-20 victory today :cool1:

Thank you for letting be brag a little

That is amazing!!!! :) Congrats!!

I saw your post on FB but didn't comment. Poor kid, I hope her hand is better and congrats on them for winning!! :) That's a great thing to have accomplished!

We had a great time in Reno. We didn't get to the hotel until after midnight but the good part of checking in so late was we got upgraded to the new tower and one of the best suites, it was really nice! The only thing, they really need to sound proof their rooms and tell their housekeeping people that it really isn't nice to bang their vacuum up against the door when someone has the DND sign up.....we didn't get much sleep that first night. lol Got home last night and watched "We Bought a Zoo", so good, I laughed, I cried, it was a great movie. :)
No class tonight, I took tonight off because we were going to be gone all weekend and I knew I would be tired. So tonight I'm hoping to catch up on a couple episodes of OUAT and work on decorating the house some more. I may or may not run to Target and/or the mall, I need to get a few things for our party this weekend and for my blue fairy costume. It's coming together nicely though, today on shoebuy I found a super cute pair of teal flats, I had a $15 off coupon from My Coke Rewards and the shoes were on sale so I paid $13.95 for them, plus got free shipping and no sales tax! YAY! :)
The boss is out today and our system has crashed so I'm just waiting for it to come back up.......

I don't mind cooking most of the time. But right now I hate it (to recap, I moved from northern California to Seattle because of dad's heart condition and lack of work opportunities in CA at the beginning of September, staying with my parents in their condo until my apartment is ready on November 10th).

I've been cooking for everyone since I've been here, and it's a nightmare. My mother has never been a great cook, when I was growing up we had fried chicken, spaghetti, pot roast or tacos every night. EVERY NIGHT. Because my father is the pickiest eater on the face of the planet, nothing ever had any spice or flavor, just salt and pepper.

So, now that I'm staying with them I've been cooking and trying to help out, but because of their dietary restrictions and the most boring palates on the planet, I'm restricted to chicken, pork chops, spaghetti and steak, with no seasoning. If I want to make something at all different or exotic I end up making two separate dinners, which is absolutely no fun. And since their kitchen is tiny, it's no fun cooking or cleaning up after either.

27 days! I am so counting down. Okay, venting over. I should go to the gym now.

Doesn't sound like too much fun. Glad you finally got a place though! Bet you will be so happy to move in.

Most temperatures there seem warm to me, mostly because it's always warmer there than here, but 59F seems a little on the chilly side! Hope you have fun though!

Sorry about your daughters hand. That's gotta be painful. I know this because I broke 3 fingers at one time and had to get pins put in. This was 6 years ago and my fingers are permanently straight now. Sucks! I hope your daughters hand heals quickly! Sounded like a fun weekend anyways. :)

Morning, ladies!

Glad you got some good memories despite the crowds! I am really not a fan of big crowds, but if I had to deal with it anywhere, I guess Disney would be the best place.

Aladdin's Flying Carpet at Disneyland? Did I miss something???

Today I took the day off work. I've been really missing my time with Seth, so I needed some little man cuddling time. Thinking about making some rolled pumpkin cookies today and use the cookie cutters I got in my exchange package. Maybe get my little man to help a little. Should be fun!

Yeah, we're not totally counting down at all (25 days and a wake up, per the Army style of countdown).

Totally. I don't like crowds, but I'll happily ignore them for any time at all in Disneyland.

Aladdin's Flying Carpet at Disneyland? Did I miss something???

I believe this is referring to the loss of the flying carpet scene in the show.

Me too!

Oh! I get it now. And that really sucks. That was one of my favourite parts in that show.

Cookies? I'll be there in half an hour.

I'll save you some!

Totally NOT liking the forecast from AccuWeather right now.... mid 90's? Nooooooooo! It was mid to upper 80's in August and I felt like I was going to die. Totally miserable. I'll be spending a whole lot of time with Mr Lincoln if it's that hot again!

I believe the flying carpet has been taken out of the show. There was an accident back in Sept where the carpet flipped over. The actors are belted in so no harm to them but I am sure it was quite frightening.

Hmm, you could be right!!

They had fun. Luckily my daughter is not into drinking or partying in a wild sort of way. She's happy just hanging out, eating, dancing, etc.

That's too bad. I love that part.

I heard about this. You'd think Disney could find a way to make it not flip. I really liked that part. Wonder what they do now for that scene.

Holy cow. LOTS of dissapointing news today for the parks. No BTMR for almost a year. FP returns enforced starting in Nov! Raising ticket prices during the holidays even worse than they already are. I mean it goes on and on. So dissapointing. Well it will hit back eventually. They are going to overprice themselves and restrict things that people WILL eventually stop going. Nothing lasts forever.

I knew the FP times would get enforced sooner or later when WDW started it. Didn't we just have a ticket increase in June?

They just walk across the stage, it's not nearly as cool but if I was on the carpet when it malfunctioned you can bet I'd not be going back up there. lol

Is all that in the Al Lutz article? I haven't read it but I can tell you that Disney has just about budgeted itself out of my life. :( Such a bummer but I could barely afford the APs I got DD and myself this year! I won't be getting another one for a while after this. And yes, I thought ticket prices just went up?
I hate that they want to enforce FP return times.......the system works fine now!

Watched some OUAT last night, did a bunch of house decorating (still more to go) and did a little jewelry work for my costume earrings. Still more to go but tonight I may run a few errands, I need some more beads in a more aqua color, I have a lot that are light blue but I need more pop. I have got to figure out my hair too......I just don't know how to get it to stay up like hers does. I ordered pizza for dinner last night, I wonder what I should make tonight....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Lisa and Kerri yes prices did go up. Al's article was talking about doing a price increase for the week of xmas and new years. So you would pay MORE for reg tickets and possibly extra for AP's. Not sure but still nuts. I just hope they don't do it THIS xmas.

And as far as another increase in normal prices there were rumors there might be one over the holidays but hopefully NOT. My AP expires in Jan right after our trip and I was already debating about renewing for the ladies trip as it was. UGH

I haven't read the article but I think enforcing FP return times is a good idea. I hate having a late return time made twice as long because people saved all their FP's until night.

So true! But walking arcoss the stage? How boring. Put that carpet on wheels and let it at least glide across the stage in some fog.
