Good morning, ladies! :)

Happy Hump Day!
Tonight is back to school night for Lindsey and Hannah. Looking forward to that. It's always fun to see what's in store for them for the school year. Although, thank goodness I am not in school anymore. The stuff they are learning in 7th grade, I'm pretty sure I didn't learn until senior year of high school! :faint:

Have a great day.

Thanks Beth! I need all the hugs i can get.

No, she is really not done with the Valley Fever. It is one of those things that takes time to heal all the way. She has a 3 month supply of medicine, and if need be, we will send her more. The good thing she has going, is that she is young, and is healing along just fine. For the first 3 months in Australia she will just be in discipleship training. If she feels up to it, she also has the opportunity to learn how to surf and scuba dive. And she can back off on that if need be. Now doesn't that sound hard? Especially in a town called Surfer's Paradise. LOL!

It is the next 3 months after, when hiking into the boondocks, that she needs to be strong and healthy. We bought her a good backpack that will have everything she needs in it to live. Sleeping bag, pillow, mattress, towels and so on. So thank goodness, she has time to get better and better before she goes out, into who knows where.

It's going to be a great experience for her. I just need to keep reminding myself of that fact and keep praying that she will be just fine and in God's hands no matter what.

But the moment she gets home, and sets foot on good ole American soil again, I am going to be one very happy mother hen!!!!!! :worship:
Wow, what an adventure! I didn't realize Valley Fever took so long to recover from. But, sounds like she's all set with her meds.
Will she have a way to contact you once she starts the backpacking portion of her journey? I'll have to Google Surfer's Paradise to see where that is. Sounds like the first three months are going to awesome!

I get my car back from the shop today. YAY!! We drove to Walla Walla (about a 5 hour drive from where I live) for my mom's birthday over the weekend & as I pulled into the driveway on Sunday night I heard some horrible noises. The wheel bearing went out on my front tire. SOOO Thankful it didn't happen as we were coming down the pass on the way home!

Cannot wait to get my name for the Halloween Exchange!! :) After I get my car we get to go shopping! There is SO much cute stuff out for Halloween already!! :)

I am now caught up on all of the posts...wow! A lot going on!!! I hope everyone & their families are well (& healing)...sending lots of thoughts & prayers to everyone!!
Ugh, I hate car problems. Glad it's all taken care of.

The names go out later this morning! We have a good sized group of exchangers this time. I'm excited. I've seen some really cute Halloween items at Micheals, and Target. My Walmart has been slow getting it out this year, but they usually have fun stuff, and Walgreens sometimes has some cute items as well.

So, I have been having back issue/plantar fasciitis problems for quite some time. The PF problems seem to be mostly done but when my back acts up, it flairs up. Well I noticed with all my traveling this summer that my back (and PF) felt great after staying in all the hotels. Get home, and it starts bugging me again. Finally figured out - I think it is my bed!!! It is only 5 years old, a top of the line pillow top but it is already losing support! Went to the store yesterday thinking I was just going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new one and the salesman told me to first call customer service. Apparently my mattress has a 20 year warranty!! :hyper: Let's just hope this warranty isn't something that is easy for the company to get out of. I have since learned that I should not have bought a pillow top - while the underlying mattress may still be good, the pillow top itself breaks down. And with this type, you can not flip it. I have been rotating it head to foot which give temporary relief. So heres hoping customer service comes through.

Our picnic season is running strong through September and early October but we are starting to slow down - which is a good thing!

Can't wait to see some Diva's later this month for our "mini meet"!

Happy Hump Day ladies!
Hope you can get a new mattress soon so you can start to feel better. Otherwise, you might just have to keep going on vacations and staying in hotels. ;)

Can't wait to see you later this month!

Well, the school day is about to start...better log off and let my students in the room. We are watching Twilight Zone today and it makes me think about TOT :goodvibes
I love Twilight Zone. My favorite is the bank robber who dies and goes to what he thinks is Heaven, but in fact it turns out he's in Hell. Love it.

I know how you feel! When Christine went to Uganda, I felt the same way! And it was hard to talk on the phone because of the delay. We did use our computer cameras alot, I think with yahoo messenger. Even that's hard to do with the time change.

Surfer's Paradise is just south of Brisbane, we were there for a day, it is beautiful! And definitely a Surfer's Paradise. The sand is nice, the waves are big, and it should be warmer than when we were there, although that didn't stop DH from snorkeling. Up in Brisbane, there is the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where we got to hold a koala bear. Very cool, lots of animals to see. If you check out the pictures on my Facebook, there are some of both places.

Mel - stay strong! She is going to have a great adventure down! And congrats on another grand baby! Best wishes to you and your family today! :)

I also have PF!! Never thought about it being the bed though, and we have the same type as you have. I'm going to CVS to get a brace that they have, one to wear during the day and one to wear at night, hope this doesn't affect our MouseAdventure too much!! (Did you get the shirt and pictures I sent?)

Drive by HI! It's been a long week here and it's only Wednesday!

DH got laid off on Monday, so things are all kinds of fun around here. NOT.

Lisa so sorry to hear about your DH. Thinking lots of positive thoughts that he will find another job soon.

My baby is leaving tomorrow for Australia.:sad::sad:
And my other baby is having a baby first thing in the morning. :lovestruc

This emotional mom is emotional.
Best of luck on her adventure and on your new grandbaby!

It is crazy! I tell my student's they really won't need math when they grow up anyways:lmao:

Woo Hoo! I cannot wait to shop.

I will have to look for that one...they are on netflix. The Principal and Superindentent came in just as I started the film. After I filled them in on the purpose of watching a Twilight Zone episode (to relate to going silent for a day - the character goes silent for a year) they sat there hooked. While they didn't get to stay and finish the show, my boss told me that the superintendent was hooked and hadn't wanted to leave. :goodvibes

Oh crap Lisa not again. I'm so sorry. I hope he finds something again quick!!

Oh my gosh I LOVE Twilight Zone. One of my all times faves. Lucky class sounds fun!!

Becky had a baby girl!! So happy to have another princess in the family. Her name is Francesca Jayne and weighed in at 9lbs 5oz, 20.5 inches!

Kaitlyn is waiting at LAX for her flight out. She is leaving at 11:45 tonight.

Lisa, I am so sorry to hear about your DH. That is so discouraging. I hope something opens up soon. Take care and big hugs.

Stacie, I remember when Christine went away. I kept her in my prayers too. Wasn't she gone over the summer 2 years ago or so?

Out of my 4 children, this is the third that has gone overseas for an extended amount of time. Derrick also went with YWAM to the Phillipines. Becky went to Spain for a semester of school. LOL, when Derrick arrived home from his trip, he had not cut his hair or shaved the whole time, which we didn't know. So when he finally came out of customs, we did not even recognize him. Up to that point since his hair had never been long, we didn't know how curly it was. And then his beard was red! RED! So here comes this kid with long curly hair and a red beard. He looked like John the Baptist!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Anyways, anyone who has sent their child overseas, and sometimes into unsure territory knows what I feel like. You gotta have faith, to keep you through it all. Well, at least I do.

In this kind of situation, I always think about our brave men and women in the service, and their families left behind. I am so thankful for all of them. It must be sooooooooooooo hard to say good-bye to them.

Stephanie and Heather, thank you for your sacrifice to our country and for our freedom. :flower3: And Jen's DH who serves in the National Guard. And anybody else, who I am probably forgetting.

Mel congrats!! How awesome another little girl and love the name.

Wow that is awesome that your kiddos all had that wonderful experience but I so know what you mean about them being gone. I couldn't even IMAGINE if my child were gone how hard that would be. Shane got deployed for 15 months to Iraq back in 03-05 and that was hard enough. I think it was actually harder on the girls than me though. They really didn't understand where or why their dad had to be gone so long. You are right though esp after living it I am ever amazed and proud of those that serve and esp the ones that go over mutiple times!

Lisa that really sucks and I so feel you. Shane is a tile setter and every year usually gets laid off a few days here and a few there but last year he was off over 3 months and that really hurt us. I hope your dh finds something quick!!

True dat!!

Can't wait to see you later this month!
Me too!

It took a while for me to make the connection to my PF and my bad back from the bed. I am working with an Active Release Therapist (ART) who is awesome (he works with the USA Track and Field Team). He explained how everything is connected from the lower back down through the hamstrings and calf to the heel and the plantar fascia. When he would work on my hamstrings or calf, I could feel it in my feet! I tried the night splint for a while - didn't bother me but didn't really help. Surprisingly what helped the most was wearing the Skechers Shape Ups! I walk everyday and the rocking motion while I walked was a gently stretching of the calf - go figure! And yes, got both the shirt and CD.

DH got laid off on Monday, so things are all kinds of fun around here. NOT.

Oh no - so sorry to hear that Lisa. Hopefully something comes along soon.

Oh my gosh Bridget it sounded like you were talking about MY life! I have horrible sciatic pains and other back/leg pains that drive me nuts... There is nothing worse then going to bed and waking up feeling WORSE than when you went to bed. :(

Bridget~ I hope customer service pulls through and you get a new mattress. Back pain is no fun.

Called customer service yesterday and they sent some claim forms I have to fill out and take photos of the mattress. They will then review the info and determine if they will send a "bed inspector" to make the final call. So keeping my fingers crossed.

Aw, that's wonderful! Congratulations to Becky, and to you on another grandbaby. I love that name. Very pretty.

I have to say, I admire your strength and dedication to your faith. I know it's what gets you through the hard times. Kaitlyn is going to be fine, and have a fantastic adventure she'll remember her whole life. ::yes::

Thanks, everyone. Such is life in construction. Sheesh. I need a vacation. LOL
I concur. You do need a vacation! :thumbsup2

A bed inspector? Wow. That's fairly involved, isn't it. Well, my fingers are crossed for ya! :wizard:

Stacie, I remember when Christine went away. I kept her in my prayers too. Wasn't she gone over the summer 2 years ago or so?

Congrats on the new granddaughter! I can't wait to have them... well, I can wait until it's the right time, but really, I can't wait!!

She did a semester abroad 3 years ago, I think. It was really hard having her gone but she was so excited to do it and loved it! I think it's harder if they go to a more under-developed location, and Surfer's Paradise is NOT under-developed!! I would live there if I could!!! So would DH, he would be a beach bum in another life!

Anyways, we know she'll be fine, but I think the hardest part is that we can't do anything for them, especially if something happens. I remember when I first moved to Phoenix (from Michigan) all by myself, I was 24 and had never lived away from home. A couple of months after moving I got strep throat and my mom wasn't here to take care of me, like she always did at home! What an eye opener!! I try to do lots for my kids but I know they need to be able to take care of themselves now, considering they're 23, 21 and 17. A lot of you have heard the stories about Zachary (the 21 year old), he's a very laid back, happy guy, but sometimes makes some bad choices... (I do have another story to tell you all when I see you in a couple of weeks) but he's an adult and those choices are his and not mine and I have to remember that. But it's hard, you just want to fix everything!! But that's why we're good moms!!! :grouphug:

Melody - Yay for another princess in the family! What a pretty name! :cutie:

Lisa - Well crap, that sucks about your hubby's job. Hope he find something soon.

Bridget - A bed inspector?!?! Oh man, where I could go with that! Don't worry, I won't....I'll be good. But wow, does it get any better than that kind of material?!! Can you imagine telling people what you do for a living?!! Damn, I want that job! :thumbsup2 :smokin:

Oh, maybe I need to see if we have a warranty for our pillow top.....it's just like that!! we have terrible divets where we sleep, and we were told that wouldn't happen. I have the worst back pain some mornings. :(

Melody, how exciting!!! 9lbs.....wow! LOL That's a big baby! ;)

Lisa, I'm sorry about your DH, if I hear of anything I'll let you know.

I'm so glad it's almost over!!!! LOL This week has been insanely busy, 2 new accounts at work that are all manual work for me, makes it hard to finish in a timely manner! Plus busy after work too.
Tomorrow is the concert, Sunday is the Ren Faire!!! So excited!! I tried on my costume last night, it still fits, although the bodice is definitely smaller/tighter then I remember, it still fits, laces and pushes the girls up to where they are supposed to be. LMAO!! I need to figure out my hair for Sunday (probably braids, but I need to figure out how), I wanted to make myself hair jewelry but not sure I'll have time at this point. I also need to figure out pants for Micah for Sunday, he's got a nice linen cream colored shirt that will work for a costume but pants......he has NO pants that will work that fit. And I have no time to order any and I doubt I can make any at this point. I may just get some jeans or long shorts on sale and cut and hem them. :/ I did find boot covers at Spirit but didn't them because I can't figure out the pants........

Excuse me....I'm still waiting for pics, missy. :p

We are going to the Ren Faire here on Friday, October 5. I so wanted to dress up, but it doesn't look like I will. I still have to get the kids their Halloween costumes, so, oh well. It's okay. One day I will.

But, I want to see your outfit! :hyper:
