HELLO friends! Another week, another challenge! Are we still having fun?! I sure am.

Well, I took Yzerbear's lead and picked another character to inspire this challenge! And the character is . . .

ALADDIN!

Aladdin_Color_Challenge_WEB.jpg

Here are the rules:

1) You can only use the colors listed in the photo above, taken from Aladdin's costume: black, brown, plum (dark purple), dark red, white and gold. Any silver hardware, staples, brads, stuff like that is fine.

2) Your subject needs to be Disney related. That's why we have these challenges! To give us the nudge to get ALL those Disney memories scrapped!!! It can be anything Disney - cruises, parks, ice shows, costumes, collections, toys - anything Disney.

3) I want to see some BLING on your layout. Somewhere, somehow give it some sparkle, Prince Ali style!!

4) Since last week was black and white photos, this week let's have NO BLACK AND WHITE photos. All your photos must be in COLOR.

5) And just like the genie coming out of the lamp. I want you to have at least 1 SWIRL on your page. You can have more than one, but you must have at least 1. If you don't have any swirls in your stash, there are plenty of free ones online. Do some searching.

That's it! Easy enough. Make sure to have your challenge layout posted in this thread before midnight (PST) the night of Tuesday June 24th. I'll be picking my favorite entry and drawing one random winner - both will win this week's killer prize! And want to know what this week's fabulous prize is? Ok I'll tell you . . .

It's this GORGEOUS new kit called "Ever After" by up-and-coming SERIOUSLY talented designer Zakirah who designs under the name Matahati. This kit is gorgeous, huge and sooooo awesome! We owe Zakirah a BIG thank you for donating the prize! You are SO gonna want this!

OH! I almost forgot! Here is MY layout to get things rolling!

Happy Scrapping!!

Hmmmmm . . . very interesting. Will have to put my thinking cap on. The prize this week is beautiful! :)

Off to go think now! :)

Sounds like a princess layout waiting to be done, to me! Thanks...can't wait to work on this challenge!

Okay, I'm in!!!

I used Britt's black scratch bold background and her confetti and stars (I just recolored them for the challenge colors).
I used Kate's circle and swirl from a template challenge

I turned Britt's star into a background for photoshop to use on Kate's template swirl, which ties it together nicely :)

And the picture was from Epcot, MoRockin! The girls just LOVED this dancer!
The background pic is from the magic carpet of aladdin ride, in honor of our challenge color host ;)

Very fun challenge!

Great challenge! I'm going to bust it packing so I can hopefully get a LO done. I know just the pictures I want to use too. Can y'all come help me pack? That would be SO great! :rotfl:

Britt - Love the LO! Thanks for the new challenge and thanks to Matahati for the beautiful prize.

sleepingbean - Cool page - the carpet overhead is really a great idea!

We got back from the World this weekend and I have not been able to get it together to scrap... I always suffer from a little post-WDW depression! :worried: I hope to do this week's challenge!!

Very fun challenge!

Nice job recoloring the elements to fit the specs of the challenge. I like the photo in a circle on top of the other as a background.

Off topic to this challenge, but back in the day I was a designer and I put together two kits that would be Disney friendly. (Spaceman and Cowboy...bet you can guess the theme they fit.) I will have to put them out there for everyone to download for their own use. I can't link up to pictures of them yet or even to a download link, but I'm getting close to my 10 posts so I can be FREE, I tell you FREE, of restrictions.

Well, post, post, post! lol. Go over to the welcome board and post post post!

oooh, I think i can make these colors work for me! I feel a pirate page coming on!!

Ha!Ha! I feel the same way! In addition to getting myself and hubby ready for a trip to WDW, I am getting my DD17 ready to attend college in Sarasota for a summer session. Its her first time away from home for an extended period and she is 24 hours away from home by car! We are staying at WDW for the first week of her camp, but I think its more for me than her! We leave early Friday morning so I will try my best to get in on this challenge.

Thanks, Brittney, for hosting!

It took a bit to figure out which photos I wanted to use since I don't wear a lot of purple and wanted to use purple since I don't normally use it much. Plus I've used red quite a bit lately. I could have used some photos of us with Aladdin and Jasmine, but that seemed too predictable. I finally came across these photos from Cinderella's Golden Carrousel and the horses had red, white, purple, among other colors. On the title I used the gold action then the sparkle action, but it doesn't really come across in the small version as well. Also the swirl is sparkly but doesn't show up well. I hope I used enough Bling. ;) :)

Great challenge.

Brit - fun pirate page! You always know how to work the ribbon! Like your last pink page had a ton of ribbon, but it looked great. I never feel like I know where to put that extra stuff. I tend to stay toward WAY simplistic, which is why I like the challenges because it inspires me to add more and try different things! (that makes me think of a future challenge...using a BOAT LOAD of bling and elements....some crazy high number...I like it!)
:yay:

Yz - very nice use of gold and purple there my dear :) I like the bold golden letters with the circle photos on the side. Fun!

Here is mine, click for credits or find it at SM ;) The prize kit is absolutely gorgeous!

Melissa: Great use of the swirl. How did you get your pictures to look like they were sort of poked in there??

Yzerbear -- I love it!! The title and the colors are great!!

Fran -- I love how you arranged the pictures and how you did your journaling. Nice work!

I hope I can explain it. First you put your swirl where you want it behind the photos or other elements. Then you duplicate the layer, putting this one in front of the photos. Then you erase where you don't want it,like over the photos, but leave it where you want it to look like its wrapped around. Does that make sense? Its not as difficult as it looks. There are probably tutorials out there that can probably explain it better than I did.

everyone is making me want to change my ADRs and book Garden Grill today!
:rotfl2: Great use of the colors, Fran!
Lovely
