Dis Breast Cancer Survivors Part IV - GAGWTA

Hello everyone!

I've been away and then had company, so been very busy. Now I'm back to work and stealing a couple of minutes from my employer to post.

I had my breast MRI and it came back normal, but I need to have an ultrasound for the breast lump and an MRI is only 95% effective. Most likely the lump is a cyst, but one never knows, so I have to wait until next Wednesday for my ultrasound. I'll let everyone know what happens.

My mom finds out on Thursday how our blood work came back and whether she needs more chemo. Her tummy is alarmingly large so I think she will although i'm trying to be optimistic. She feels okay but is very worried.

Thank you for all the warm thoughts and hugs. Right back at ya.

Hi ladies.....

I have been so sad about Lisa today.....such a shock, I knew things were not sounding good for her, but didn't know she was so ill. You are right Laurie, she was just here not too long ago talking about a restaurant near WDW.

I remember how thoughtful and caring she always was last spring and summer when I was not doing well - even though she was also in treatment. You too, Smiley. Wow. It's just surreal.

I spent a good part of today going back and reading old post....including ones from our previous theads prior to this one. Lisa always seemed to have strength, hope, and her sense of humor. :littleangel:

LMP, as Laurie said, thanks for letting us know. How did you find out - did Meg contact you? Is there some way we can let Meg and family know we are thinking of them?

Laurie, stay safe.

Sig, sending you and your mom good thoughts for you upcoming test.

Mini, glad you had a great trip!

DD and her DH are back from France and Spain....DD fell the first day they were there and hurt her leg and knee, but was still able to hobble around and enjoy themselves. :crutches: Said Paris was beautiful. I only talked to her for a short time last night, will get more details this weekend when she comes for our niece's going away party.

GAGWTA!!! :goodvibes

Maryann, thanks for the link - you are right, great pictures! I will have to think about what to write.

How very sad. I saw a few of her posts, she did seem like a lovely lady and way too young for this to happen. Very sobering.

OMG!! I just was scrolling down to catch up and found the posts about Lisa. I was at WDW Saturday and was thinking about her, looking for Meg but didnt see her of course.

I lost a former patient this past weekend, that I was close to. Just feel a bit more sunk. Keep thinking of Lisa's smile and her blue eyes.

With the changes FB has made, I never saw anything from her page or about posts to her page.

Laurie, stay safe. I know its just going to be wind and a lot of rain. Im sure every one will be okay including DS. Keep us posted about your DH.

R is okay as of last night. He isnt awake yet to my knowledge.

Thank you LMP for the information about Lisa. Any updates on Candy?

Still have power at our house, bad weather to continue through tomorrow. Schools closed through tomorrow. I doubt will hold classes Friday.

We are just staying inside.

Rain 3 inches per hour, this is ridiculous. Interstates closed because of flooding.

Talked to DS24 last night briefly. No cell phone.

My good friend Cindy texted me this am. Power off since yesterday. They should have come here. I think she has total of 13 at her house, some from germany and australia. Being treated to southern hospitality.

Power out most of New Orleans. But levees and pumps are all effective so far.

Someone upstairs is watching out for us.

Thanks for everyone's well wishes and emails.

Was just thinking of you, Laurie. DH is a weather buff and just came home and flipped on the news to see what was happening with the storm. I heard mention of your area. Sending good thoughts and prayers that everyone's ok and it passes through with minimal disruption. :grouphug:

R doesnt have power but does have his generator. Different grid and/or power lines may be above ground over there. I dont remember. And my friend Danielle in Meterie (sp) has power but said her DS is off until Tuesday from school.

I am so sad that Lisa has passed on. She was a hero to me a real inspiration. I know how her family is suffering her loss and my heart breaks for them.
Has anyone heard from Marcij? I've been thinking of her lately too.
Laurie I hope Things get better there very soon, it looks so scarey on the news!
Had my CAT scan today see the oncologist next wed for results. We meet with the compensation board next friday to start determining how much hubbies pension will be. Such an extremely stressful time.

Smilie, I hope you get good news today at your meeting.

LMP, is this also the day you have a meeting for your DS?

We are leaving in a few minutes for the hospital for DH's heart cath. The hospitals are up and running today.

We never lost power here, one of the few neighborhoods in this area. We are blessed. We lent our generator and gave our gas to one of the guys DH works with. He just moved to Louisiana. Not prepared for all of this.

Schools still out till at least next Tuesday.

I went to work for a few hours yesterday. We had partial power, but no air conditioning. Could only manage to work a little while. At least my comptuer worked!

DS24 called yesterday. He is ok, no power. It will probably take a few weeks to get power back in most of New Orleans. I am a bit worried about him since he has not been able to replace his cell phone and his room mate evacuated. He is a bit isolated, but he has gas in his car, and he is getting together with friends. He borrowed a friend's cell to call me. I loved him for that.

We worked some on cleaning up the debris in the yard, only for a little while. We waited until it was cooler, but then the mosquitoes came out. I am also worried about DH doing too much right now, before we get through the test today.

Keep DH in your prayers.

Will update you later.

keeping your DH in my prayers, will send lot's of good thoughts your way today!! So glad you dear son made the effort to contact you!! and I'm so glad you have come through this relatively unscathed!!! Our meeting is next friday, so another week to stress and worry. I know it won't help, but it's just so hard not to! wed the oncologist for test results then friday to find out what the rest of our lives are going to be like. I feel like I should do a Doris Day and start singing..... ♪ ♪ que sera sera....♪

DH "passed his test." Blockages not obviously worse than 5 years ago. Will tweak his meds, increase his cardio exercise, go back to the cardiologist in 3 weeks. I wonder if the doc did this test because I was with DH during the appointment Monday. The doc could tell I was anxious, and he is well aware of DH's stress level at work.

We are home and DH is resting.

So very good news, and it was a relatively sooth experience. The hospital did not seem hectic, next week will be different so I am glad they worked us in today.

Heard from DS24 again briefly tonight, he was able to use his friend's cell phone since he still has not replace his lost phone. He is sharing a generator with his neighbor to keep his fridge operating. He has gas in his car, also has MRE's to eat that are being distributed in New Orleans. He sounds good and I sure appreciated the call.

My sister is back from Texas, heavy traffic due to diversion off the interstate in two places and people trying to get back to New Orleans. Their power is out and the backwaters are rising and flooding the main electric power station in that area.

Took them hours to get home, trying to talk them into coming back towards us to stay tomorrow but they are not going to want to get into the crazy traffic.

They should have stayed put in Dallas but this backwater flooding at least in their area is a surprise.

Flooding is insidious and it just keeps on going.

I am changing sheets and getting ready for guests.

So thankful we have power.

excellent news Laurie!! have a good weekend :)

GAGWTA ladies!

I know I have been MIA for many weeks (months) but you are never far from my thoughts and prayers.

So sorry to learn of Lisa's passing, just too sad for words. :sad2: My heart goes out to her Meg and the rest of her loved ones.

Been thinking of you Laurie, with the hurricane, my DH kept saying "remind me again, where in Louisiana does your friend live?" So hard to believe it has been 7 years since Katrina....my cancer treatment had JUST ended!!! I am glad you have fared OK. Keeping your DH in my prayers

This summer I have been thinking often of Melissa (MerryPoppins) in Oklahoma as well....the heat and the fires...I am wondering if anyone has heard from her??

I have been wrestling with some issues personally, not breast cancer related- but vascular issues -I guess mainly just "aging" related. I cannot believe that I am 55 ;) I have a narrowing in the subclavian artery going to left arm....not a very common thing as I understand it. In the midst of all the testing my PCP left the practice. It has not been fun....but as usual for me the anxiety is worse than the actual condition. And this too shall pass.

My grandson Avery is doing very well in his ongoing battle with leukemia. He turns 11 late September. :cloud9:

DH and I are going to Colorado again, in what has become an annual mid-late September combination of fishing and family time, meeting up with extended family for the tail end of our trip. I can't wait!!

I'm busy with this year's Making Strides to End Breast Cancer Walk locally, serving on the volunteer sub-committee for Survivorship :thumbsup2

Thinking of you all...I get on and read when I can and as I have said, you are never far from my thoughts!! XOXOXO

Ann, so good to see you post. It has been awhile.

I thought your treatment ended around that time, I think you were just diagnosed with bc right when the first part of this thread started.

I will never forget how kind all of you were to me during that storm, before and after, sending care packages, etc. Thankfully Isaac was no Katrina at least to us. A lot of people are will remain without power though.

My sister and her DH are heading home. Their town is halfway between here and New Orleans, the power in their town came back last night, so they are going to return and start cleaning up.

I wonder if Merry is still having posting problems?

I am sorry to hear of your vascular problem, I have never heard of the subclavian artery. What is the treatment?

I continue to follow Avery's story. He is one brave little fighter.

Enjoy your Colorado trip. I would love some cooler drier weather. DD22 has been telling me how nice it is in NJ. She is trying not to rub it in.

DH had DD16 drive him to pick up some roses for me yesterday. She had to drive because he was not allowed to drive until today. He set up this trick to have her come in and say she wants him to listen to a noise her car is making. Made me :crazy2:since we have 3 cars that are older and are constantly in the shop for something.

I was truly shocked when he walked in with the flowers. He said he wanted to give me something for putting me through the craziness of this past week.
I am thankful he is feeling well.

Off to clean up the yard!

Thinking of PatsMom. Miss her posting. Hope all is well. Also thinking of Elizabeths cousin

So everyone ask me what is new in the world of dh and international travel today, oh yes, another nightmare has happened. Dh made it from Rodes Greece to Athens and then onto Rome. In Rome the plane had a jet fuel leak. He called ds2 as he is having phone issues in Italy. Many phone calls later, most being with the airline. (I was on the phone with them) Glad he is a 2 million mile person. All flights are sold out today for Labor Day, oh joy. He is now going from Rome to London Gatwick and then to London Heathrow and arriving here tomm. afternoon. Then he will come home and shower and go back to the airport and pick up his chinese workers for the project. Dh has a limo picking him up, but the work is so cheap they wont pay for the other people. gosh. Their flight arrives 5 hours later.

Dh is out of clean clothing, even his spare stuff in his laptop case, sigh.

Worse, he picked up his luggage in Rome and said it reeks of jet fuel, oh just wonderful! So now we will see how to deal with that. I am hoping I can wash the clothes and have the dry cleaner do the 2 suits. I dont know about the luggage yet. I will have him deal with that when he gets home.

Sorry so long. I am not a happy camper today. As in my other post I said this traveling stuff is getting me weary and also he leaves next week for at least another week. oh what fun!

GAGWTA.

Thanks LMP-- he did okay, but power has been off and on. He lost a week of work and I am sure its not going to be good with the project they have to complete by the end of the month. I worry about him with that.

Got a bit more than a month to the walk and have to kick up my fundraising. I have a Pampered Chef show/fundraiser going and still need to get the shirts going. I was a bit lazy this weekend and went to WDW Friday night to see a couple friends. I signed up for the Princess 5K marathon in February. I havent started running yet LOL Need to train for that.

Will make lists tomorrow of everything I need to do. And then do them... check check check. We had really nice weather. Wasnt has humid to me as the weekend Isaac hit, and I dont think that was horrible.

My iphone had issues but after 2 hours at Verizon this morning it is working normal again. Yay! oh and yay for Football season!!!!

snappy: so happy to hear you are all safe and you escaped the worse of Issac.. wow I seen the pictures on tv.. I felt so bad..ooh and happy about your DH too!!

for me I closed on my mothers condo this week. Mom has been living with me for 2 years and that is how long it has been up for sale. I am glad it is one less thing for me to worry about. Took a huge loss but I just wanted it sold.

Here in NJ getting some rain today. Remnants of Issac. Yesterday, labor day was humid and rainy as well. Funny not see everyone out and about at picnics, cutting grass etc

well summer officially over! goes so fast doesn't it

Have great day ladies!
