Dis Breast Cancer Survivors Part IV - GAGWTA

Kofslinky, I am going to have to go look at all your pictures! The ones you posted are great! What camera are you using?

Thank you very much! I have a Nikon D90, and all of these pictures were taken with either the 18-200 lens or the 50 mm lens.

I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday! GAGWTA!

Had to come and report, our friends found their daughter! Well the police in the province next to ours did!! Amazing how you can't get a teen our of bed in the morning for school, but she made it almost 1000 miles in 3 days with no vehicle! Parents drove all night to get there and bring her home. I just pray they can get all the help they need now to get to the bottom of her unhappiness and heal their family.

Laurie, I'm so sorry to hear about Snappy. I have never been in your shoes, so I can only imagine what you are feeling. I'm sure that Snappy will be feeling your love, as always.

Smiley, that's great news! Her family must be overjoyed!

Kofslinky, great pictures!

Thank you all for all the good thoughts and well wishes. Spent much of the past two weeks running back and forth to the oncology center for fluids and lots of bloodwork. Had a bone scan too, no results on that yet. I'm doing much better this weekend, even felt well enough to go out to eat today. Found out I no longer like spaghetti! My taste buds are starting to get a little wonky. Chemo again on Thursday, doc said he will be reducing the dose by 25%. Hopefully the side effects will be more manageable.

GAGWTA!!:goodvibes

Laurie - I am so very sorry to her about your precious Snappy fur baby. I pray you will have peace about this. Thoughts and prayers for you and the family. My ds isnt taking a bone stimulating medication. He is actually using a machine. Something on the lines of a tens unit.

Cheryl - glad to hear you got out to eat. Hoping the reduced chemo is better for you.

kofslinky - hope your itching is over with. Love the pictures. My favorites were the bird and the snowman. Where was that taken?

Peg -sweet picture. Hope you enjoyed the Flower and Garden festival. I cant wait to see all the beautiful exhibits.

Dan - nice to see you pop in. Glad your surgery turned out well and Congrats to Marie. Wonderful news! Enjoy your trip and I think I saw on the S and D thread that you will see Cindy/Tuffcookie there too.

Smiley - great news about that young lady. I hope she gets the help she needs.

robinb- nice to see you. Glad things are going well for you

jillyb - hoping your visits go well. Glad things are going in the rght direction for you.

Diana - nice to see you too

Well in another saga of I hate electronic prescriptions. I go to do all my pills for the trip. I see I need one refill. Call the pharmacy. They have nothing on file.:furious: So now tomm. I have to call the dr. If it does not work out I figure I have enough to miss one day, well actually 2 I think. I dont know but next time I think I will go over each individual script with the dr. I never see this stuff. She just types away on the computer. sigh.

I was wanting to pack but I took a nap instead. I was just tired and stressed out from my meeting the other day I wrote the minutes last night and that made me sick too. Laurie, now I guess I see of some of what you were going through at work, lol

GAGWTA.Thinking of you all.

Smiley. so glad the young lady was found.

Laurie, wishing you continued strength this week wih Snappy. I love how much you love her, and I am grieving with you.

We welcomed a new little dude into our home last week. (See Signature) He's keeping me busy! :faint:

Thanks Cheryl, LMP, and Linda!

I am home for a few minutes to check on her. She likes scrambled eggs so she is getting scrambled eggs mixed with the Hills formula for cardiac/kidney care. It must be a little more palatable than the straight up kidney formula.

I just went to the vet and got the info on how to proceed when we are ready. It was hard to hear, but as usual I need to be well informed.

Your little guy is too cute, Linda. Have y'all decided on a name?

While I was at the vet a few minutes ago, a young woman was in with an adorable puppy that they found during the parade Saturday. She can't keep her because the older dogs she already owns were not getting along with the puppy.

I would have grabbed her but I know how our other dog Naj is. I won't do two females ever again.

Thanks, Laurie. His name is Duffy. :shamrock:

Linda - your pup looks so sweet and I love his name!

Just got a sweet text from our Candy30. She wants you all to know she is thinking of you all and praying for you. She doesnt have a home computer yet and they block her from the dis at work but she hopes to get a smartphone soon so she can post.

Well I have everything ready to pack mostly. Have to run to the pharmacy. I am having so much trouble with my one script. They said bring in the empty bottle and they will give me a few for the vacation. I only need 2. Then I guess I will call again during the vacation to the endo. I called this morning the pharmacy faxed yest and nothing. Also looked at ds otc allergy med and he wont have enough for the trip. Of course he would never tell me that. So just odds and ends to do.

Bringing my net book so I will post some live updates:)

Peg will you be there when I am there? I know you already went the other weekend. Just wondering. Would love to meet you in person one day.

GAGWTA.

LMP, good luck tying up all the loose ends. You are very organized. I hope you have the absolute best weather possible, and make a lot of memories with your whole family. Spring is such a nice time to visit WDW, especially during the F&G festival. My irises have been blooming their hearts out, and my azaleas are cranking up. I imagine things are really budding up in Orlando.

Linda, I loved hearing how Duffy gets along with your girl. That is so sweet that he runs over to her when he gets out of his crate, and that she sleeps by his crate. So heartwarming I can hardly stand it. Great photo of him too! I have to admit I never heard of a cairn before. What led you to his breed? Please post more photos of him on our thread too. I loved the story that someone else posted on your cairn thread that their doggie was her daughter's little sister. Such a sweet way to put it.

A agree with LMP, Duffy is a wonderful name for a cairn.

Do you think your girl will help with the training? That did not happen in our house, Naj was and still is to some degree far too high spirited and hard headed.

kofslinky - hope your itching is over with. Love the pictures. My favorites were the bird and the snowman. Where was that taken?

The itching is ALMOST gone, two weeks later. Still no idea what caused it! The bird was on the Maharajah Jungle Trek in Animal Kingdom, and the snowman was actually a sandman on Living with the Land in Epcot.

snappy- I'm glad to hear its spring somewhere. We've barely hit 40º at all this month- its been more like January than March! I hope your azaleas come in beautiful!

Pea- congrats on the new addition!

LMP- can't wait for the updates! Enjoy vacation!

Sorry, was in the midst of some long shifts.

We are happy she likes him and as the old saying goes, he seems to have brought new life to her. Despite her disability, she's following him all around the house and pulls herself over to his crate at night to sleep next to him. It really is so sweet, and I'm happy for him that he has a doggie "auntie" here as he no doubt missed his family when he left them. (I think he likes it here, though!) His whole body shakes and quivers when he runs up to her and he snuggles under her chest.

I've always liked Cairn terriers. You know that Dorothy's Toto was one? So yes, you have known Cairns before, you just never realized it! Friends of ours got one last fall that we totally fell in love with. We were looking for a small dog since last year when DH's mother was on hospice and their little dog slept with whoever was spending the night; that made us enjoy having a little dog around, and we started looking at rescues. For various reasons none of those worked out. (Often because they would bite my girl from a lap and it wasn't fair to her in her old age and condition to be subjected to that.) So this worked out really well. I am hoping I can train him for therapy work - something I've always wanted to do. (Keep your fingers crossed he's cut out for it.) That was originally my plan with my girl, but it didn't work out because she was often reactive to other dogs. (I think God knew it was probably too much for me emotionally as I was recovering from my cancer, so he, in his own way, made me wait until now.)

At any rate, he's a great little guy and we're so glad he's with us. I know when we lose our girl, his being here will soften the blow.

Linda, love the pictures of Duffy! He sounds like such a sweetie......also loved your stories of how the two are getting along. Congrats on your new cutie!

Kofslinky, wow, two weeks is a long time to be itchy! I hope it goes away soon!

LMP, have a good trip! I hope you enjoy all the wonderful meals you have planned.

Laurie, I'm so envious of the fact that you have flowers in bloom! Spring seems like a million years away here.

Well I am ready to kill my kids and its only the first day of vacation, lol.

Ds2 almost made us late for the plane. I also found out that he decided we didnt need all the suntan lotion ds3 told him to pack and now we only have half a bottle of the kind dh and I like. He left a full new bottle at home. He refuses to get a wheelchair or scooter.

Then ds3 loses his i phone. He left it in the bathroom in France. Nice person handed it in to the restaurant.

Its hot here. But I love it. Our room lacks outlets for phone charging and computers etc. so no one is happy.

I am loving the the topiaries in Epcot. We also saw the insane line to see Elsa and Anna from Frozen. Over 3 hours.

The ds are wondering what is wrong with me because I told them I only have dinner plans. I told them they can do whatever they want during the day and ds3 wants to go to the waterparks.

And in my never ending medication saga of trying to get one med I need, ds1 tells me the pharmacy left a message saying I cant get a refill till June and not what med it was. So will call tomm. Befiire I left I also faxed a letter to my endo. My final resort is just going there Monday and showing up and pleading in person.

GAGWTA

Jillyb, you sure are getting the full monty treatment. Glad you will be taking off some during radiation. Will you be having radiation daily?

Yeah...they're really putting me through my paces! LOL I got my "tattoos" last Friday. Yesterday I went in for a dry run. I start radiation today. Starting Monday, I'll be out on short term disability. Radiation will be 5 days for 6 weeks. Getting that much closer to being done!:banana:

I haven't read all the the other posts but hope everyone is doing well.

GAGWTA!

Hi everyone. I haven't posted on this thread in a long while. I do stop by and lurk from to time. Hope everyone is getting along okay.

I'm wondering if anyone would like to share their experience/knowledge of calcifications. Thanks.

We are back from nice warm 80 degree Florida to snow tonight!

Cheryl - how are you feeling? Hope you are tolerating the reduced chemo and that you can find some things your taste buds will like to eat.

Jilly - hope the rads are tolerable

Peg - lucky you get to live there all the time!

Laurie - thinking of you:hug:

smiley - I want to jump into one of your nice and warm Calif. and Hawaii pictures

Trying to get back on track with everything. Had ds 3 take me for the blood test today as my infusion is next week. Told ds2 he needs to call for his echo results. I hate HIPPA. My endo called and left me a phone message as I faxed her a letter before I left on vacation. I have to get the bone scan in sept. when my ins. pays for it. All my med. issues are resolved at present, pending the blood test which may result in another dose increase.

Last night dh and I went grocery shopping. I saw the new principal of the school. She is the vice principal and was also my ds teacher. She didnt seem friendly at all and all she said was, I will see you at the meeting etc. Is said, well I guess I will see you at the chinese auction next week. I guess she figures she is not the principal yet, dont know when its effective, but I feel she should be there.

Highlights of the trip -
Swan in storm a long bay twice
I walked from the Swan to Epcot My ds were amazed. I did hold onto the wheelchair as a walker.
Liked the new magic kingdom parade
Scored an illuminations table at Rose and Crown
Bought this really neat spinning windcatcher type thing. Peg did you see these at the Flower and Garden Festival. They were near Canada. We got the big one. Blue and silver with mickey head in the middle. Ds3 hung it out in the backyard and it looks really neat.

Cant believe dh is leaving next sat. for 17 days. That is a long trip. He is taking ds1 with him for the China leg. Then I know he is meeting a coworker for the 3rd leg in the 2nd Russia stop. But at least its a lot of ff miles, Good for another disney trip! I am thinking of the Swan by christmas time.

GAGWTA. Thinking of you all.

Oh, I know how lucky I am to live in Florida. I don't think I could do the cold winters anymore.
Some friends from Missouri were here last week. I spent several days in the parks with them. It wore me out, but was great fun. They were not looking forward to going home to the cold.

Just when everything was going smoothly, I've started having problems with my stomach. Several times, I've gotten sick. The doctor thinks it is neuropathy in my stomach. So, I have to start eating smaller meals and try to avoid fat. My last blood counts were a little low also. That may be why I've been more tired. But, I'm getting my three miles of walking in most days. :thumbsup2

Luvmarypoppins, I did see those spinners at Epcot. They are really neat. I wish I had a better place to put one.

Ladies, as usual, you remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Peg, sorry to hear about the stomach troubles. I have to say way to go on the three miles a day. That is quite the accomplishment.

MaryAnn, sounds like your trip was a success. Glad the weather cooperated for you to get to swim twice. Congrats as well for walking from the Swan to Epcot. I love the international gateway. That way of getting into EPCOT is golden to me. One of the reasons I love the Boardwalk.

Oceanannie, I want to respond to your question about calcifications. I think I will try a little later today when I have a longer window of time.

Snappy is still with us, the hydration at the vet office a week ago Thursday did wonders. She had problems the next morning but no accidents since. I know it is a temporary respite. I have done a lot of research on doing her meals with people food using small amounts of high quality protein and also using low phosphorous foods.

It is going well. Because she is eating more than she was on the strict kidney disease dog food formula, she has more energy and enjoys her walks more. Not sure how long it will be before the proteins and other stuff build back in her system. Have to decide when her quality life is compromised. We had a family talk a week ago Friday but the way she rallied, it does not seem the right time. So she is enjoying her new diet, and I am continuing to enjoy my time with my girl for now.
