Oh yes, that tram flap is some major pain, since the muscle is severed and the incision is hip to hip.

If you talk to her, tell her to use the binder. It is helpful. I have been there.
I would be happy to talk to her to give moral support.

Time will be her friend, I am talking several weeks.

She is still in the hospital?

Thanks, Laurie. She will be in the hospital for about 5 nights. I sent her a text yesterday. I am hesitant to call because I don't want to disturb her if she is actually getting some rest. The hospital is literally across the street from me, so I may try to go see her in the next day or so. I told her to call me if she would like for me to come sit with her, but so far I think her DH and other family members are there with her.

KJ, hope you are feeling better by now. Is your reconstruction still on schedule?

Ann, congratulations on the new addition! I had to laugh when I read that you have a new granddog, that's what my mom calls our pups. She's so funny - I've heard her on the phone when we've gone over to her house, and she'll say "oh I have to go, my grandpuppies just came over". LOL, no mention of the humans! :lmao:

Lisa, how are you doing after surgery? And Marci? Lots of well wishes to you both!

Linda, how did you do with all your test?

LMP, did you ever track down that reclast?

I don't have any results from my last CT scan, except to know that if it was anything bad, doctor would have called me himself. Apparently they are no longer allowed to give results over the phone to people who call, but I could stop by and pick up a copy of the report if I wanted to. Reading between the lines of my conversation with his nurse, I'm taking it to mean that there wasn't anything he needed to talk to me about that is urgent, and I have an appt next week that we will go over everything. So, we'll see what he has in store for me then.

I've been busy getting ready for Christmas. Yes, Christmas. :santa: We are having our Christmas celebration with extended family the Saturday after Thanksgiving since we will be out of town for the last two weeks of December. The kids away at school will all be home for Thanksgiving, and my DD and her DH will be home then too, so it seemed like the best time. My tree is up already....but really scaled back on the other decorations. This is going to be quite the strange holiday season this year!

GAGWTA!!!:goodvibes

Thanks for asking, Cheryl. I'll be having the test in a couple of weeks, I'll let you know. I did see doc for the swelling in my (good) arm and as expected, it's tendonitis from moving furniture and I have to go to Physical Therapy :sad2: and I have a brace that I wore exactly once. If no improvement, I have to seen an orthopod. (DH and I will get dual appts, he broke his toe last week, lol.) Fun getting old (but in a good way, right?).

Glad we're hearing good things here lately. :flower3: :grouphug:

It sounds like there's been some good news for everyone here lately .

I hope Marci heals quickly - it sounds like that type of reconstruction surgery is quite painful.

Lisa - How are you healing?

Cheryl - Sounds like you are getting good news as well? I sure hope so!!!

Linda - I hope your test goes well also.

Maryann - How's the trip planning going?

I'm still sick . I've been doing everything I can to get rid of this so I can have my surgery this coming Tuesday, but because I'm supposed to have surgery I'm limited on what I can take. It does seem to be getting a little bit better though so hopefully....

I had my preop appointment and had an EKG. I was saying to the nurse that I tell my husband I'm his Bride of Frankenstein (with all my scars) and now being hooked up with all those electrodes and wires I really feel like it and maybe she could give me a good jolt. :lmao: She didn't think it was funny :rolleyes1. I laughed for the two of us though.

Well, hope everyone has a great weekend - happy hunting for those who are going opening day around the midwest area.

GAGWTA.

Good afternoon ladies

Elizabeth - thanks for the update on marci. I would second Laurie with the binder. It helped me alot too. And I am of the mindset to get as much pain meds as possible. I would rather walk around half doped up then suffering from the abdominal pain. After the 4 abdominal surgeries I had last year I had the meds down to a science I think. Hope you can get to visit her.

Lisa - hope you are healing sista and not in too much pain:hug:

Linda - I hope the PT does wonders for your arm. And hope all your testing goes well too. Wishing your dh a quick healing too.

KJ - I hope you feel better soon. How about some nice chicken soup and vicks.

Cheryl - wow you have your christmas tree up already. Ds19 wants to put our up early too since dh and I will be away etc. I am sure no news is good news for you. Wishing you all the best, I have not started the reclast run around again.

Laurie - I bet your will be glad to see your college kids over the holidays. I am meeting up with some disers. I saw a meet on the dis meets board and I have met one of the guys before. He is a sweetie. My ds love how Ray decorates his scooter with the christmas lights etc.

PatsMom - how are you feeling post treatment?

My vacation plans are good. I will shop this week end for some health stuff. I only want one more adr that I cant seem to get and that is cape may breakfast. We will be rolling out of there. I booked Le Cellier, via napoli, LTT, Kona,Cape May dinner, Shulas, Flying Fish and Chefs. I just might do a walk up etc. There is always captains grill but I want to try cmb again as last time we were there with the ds goofy wacked me in the face with his um..nose::). I had to take 2 tylenol for that one. One of dh former associates actually helped goofy outfit that part of his body. I told him to tell his friend to make something better. Its was compostie material then etc.

Dh has asked me if I want to go and...live in New Zealand for a year:scared1:. The govt. has decided they need someone there full time. First they asked for a volunteer. I told him to ask this guy who does work in antartica for the govt. He said I had a good idea, so we will see.

GTAGWTA.

New Zealand for a year?! My first thought was oh, that sounds like it could be very cool!!! But then the second thought was what to do about finding new doctors, etc. I don't know, I think I would maybe go for it! Maybe.

KJ, wow, whatever got ahold of you sure is holding on tight! I sure do hope you are feeling better very soon! BTW, I thought your Frankenstein comment was quite funny! :lmao:

Linda, hope the physical therapy helps! And ouch for your DH!!

Yep, I'm going with the no news is good news theory. Frankly, I'm just tired of worrying about it, so I've decided not to!

Have a great day everybody!!! GAGWTA!!:goodvibes

Good afternoon ladies

Elizabeth - I hope Marci got to come home yest. Hoping the pain is bearable for her and that she heals quickly.

Well we got our lst christmas present for ds19. Just a gift card to one of his favorite eating places. Now we will get another one later for another place. Also got the religious christmas stamps for the christmas cards. Hmm, a little holiday progress is good. Tomm. I think dh and I will go and get the turkey etc.

Oh and I am going to make 2 more adrs. I read nicki's live dining review on the boards and she said the photo pass person is in the GF lobby all day to take pictures by the tree, so dh and I will pop over there while we are at the Poly and have lunch at the GF and then on our Poly check out day we will eat breakfast at Kona.

GTAGWTA. Blessings to you all always. Have a great week end everyone

Good afternoon ladies

Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and again, so say what a blessing and inspiration you all are to me.

Cheryl - any news?

Elizabeth - how is Marci

Lisa - I hope you are healing. Thinking of you sista:hug:

KJ - Thinking of you too and wishing you all the best. I hope you have kicked your disney bug.

Laurie - imagine you will have a house full for the holidays.

Well I am starting my eye drop regime for the next week. I hate sticking things in my eyes and I just hope the drops get in. I have to do it 4 times a day and wash my eye lashes with baby shampoo 3 times a day, Booked the last 2 adrs and will just do a walk up for cape may breakfast, not a big deal if we dont get it. The busy stuff has started but its a good busy. The shoeboxes for the 4 children were dropped off. I also did a bag of stuff for the boys old school christmas store, I have 1 or 2 more to do and then next week is the angel tree kids. Ds18 told me a little girl remembered him from bible school yest. when he was working at the bowling alley. She said she had such a good time in our class! Wow did that bring a smile to my face. I hope I am well enough to do it next summer too. Just with a different helper.

GTAGWTA. Have a great day everyone. Blessings to you all always.

GAGWTA, Ladies!

Sending good thoughts to all of you as we head into Thanksgiving! :goodvibes

Marci went home on Friday. She is still in quite a bit of pain. She had a Dr. appt. today where she was hoping they would remove at least 2 of the drains. I have not heard how that went. She has asked for our prayers/good thoughts for the path report on the nodes they removed during her surgery, as that will determine the course of action they take for the rest of her treatment. :wizard:

Elizabeth - thanks for the update on Marci. I hope she can have the drains out and prayers for a favorable path report

Well in my house, we have a winner...yup, its the utter disappointment for ds18. The letter came today and I held it up to the light. It says ...due to the competitive nature of the application process etc...we are unable...Gheesh I think he has like a 3.75 gpa, what is wrong with these people! So its another semester at the comm. college. I am seriously going to tell him to apply to the privat out of state college, as I think they have a guaranteed acceptance into the masters program. Maybe I am mistaken. I will have to look it up again etc. I so do not want ds coming home to this again, sigh, sigh. another of the life is hard moments for him.

LMP, sorry your son got bad new again. Sometimes it just seems like there is no rhyme or reason to these things.

Marci, hoping you get good news, and start feeling better soon!

Saw my oncologist today...still no answers. My last CT scan was fine. Which apparently only means that its just not big enough to show up yet. He's pretty certain that it is just a matter of when, not if. My tumor markers continue to rise. Don't know what they were today, maybe will get that info tomorrow. He ordered a bone scan for me, for next week. Blah. Haven't got time to worry about it now, too much stuff coming up with the holidays.

GAGWTA!

Maryann, I am sorry to hear about DS's letter.

Cheryl, I am so sorry. I hope they are able to figure out what is elevating those markers so they can treat it.

Good morning ladies!

Computer problems here as two dinosaurs are trying to set up netflix streaming for this week when the two college scholars are home.

Not sure if it is worth it as it seems to be wrecking my computer:headache:

Elizabeth, please give Marci my best. It will be so much easier when the drains are out, trust me. Trying to exist with those things is very trying, not to mention the whole emptying the drain process.

I hope she gets control of the pain soon. I am praying for good news.

MaryAnn, I am sorry your son was shut out of the school again. If he keeps his GPA up like that and not get discouraged, he will triumph in the end.

Cheryl, I love your attitude but I hate that you are still in limbo. Waiting for results and yet more tests is the one of the worst parts of this beast. You my friend, like others here, do it in style. Enjoy the holiday and the hectic holiday. I have hitting every grocery store around laying in supplies, feathering the nest. I think I may be over the top.

My mom is having her second cateract surgery today. Kind of an odd week to do it, but that is my mom. I take her in early tomorrow to have the eye guard removed, look see by the doctor, and the post surgery drops started up.
My dear sister is bringing her in for the surgery today. I am trying to work and bring DD15 for her committments-bad traffic.

Hey, I am glad I am not flying anywhere!

Not sure I want to be bombarded by the enhanced xrays nor "patted down."
Not that I think ANYONE would try and get their jollies screening me! LOL~!:rotfl:

Now I kind of wish I hadn't donated my big old prothesis to my Cancer Services office. Would have been a pretty good weapon if a terrorist tries to take over the flight, that is if the TSA dudes don't confiscate it.

I can just hear them laughing right now at the hugeness of it!

I can hear SIZE 9???????

Seriously though, DD15 is supposed to fly alone to NYC next summer. I am seriously rethinking that. I can imagine at 15 being examined like that could be traumatizing.

Hopefully the procedure will change by then, but if not, I will definitely accompany her. I would think she would be vulnerable. I don't want her having that much radiation either.

Hmmm, how many miles is it from Baton Rouge to Manhattan-seriously, could we drive and see some countryside all the way up?

Might be a good experience but I can't see talkinh DH into taking that much time off.

Good afternoon ladies

Cheryl - I am sure this whole process is so frustrating to you. But I know you have alot of strength and fight in ya sista!! Sending you a big ole bear:hug:

KJ - Thinking of you and hoping the surgery goes well:hug:

Lisa - hope you are healing:hug:

Laurie - I said a prayer for your mom. Hoping her surgery goes well. I think the eye drops are hard to do. I am getting frustrated doing these things. I always seem to miss. Your post about the scanners had me :rotfl2:

Well ds seems to be recovering but still depressed. He said he wants to change his major. I said, no dont and be the Little Engine That Could etc.!! He is organizing some blood drive so he is involved with that too. These eye drops are making my eyes blurry. Got the one last elusive adr, cape may breakfast, yeah!! I think they will have to roll us out of there. I think we have like 11 adrs in 7 days. Dh is having the guy come from Russia possibly next month. I told him we are taking him to wal mart to let him pick out some presents from us for him, the wife and baby. I told him the guy would faint if he saw walmart. Dh wants to take him to the mall. I said, no, he would have a heart attack seeing that many stores. Dh says he has like 2 shirts etc. Should be interesting. The turkey is here, just 13 lbs. I dont want a lot of left overs. Ds19 is dog sitting.

GTAGWTA. Blessings to you all always.

I know I haven't posted in some time but I'm having a problem staying logged in! I've been in touch with the Technical people but the problem keeps reoccurring.

Thinking of all of you who are recovering, waiting for results and are new to this board.

Wishing all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving! I am truly thankful for all the wonderful people I've met through this forum - you are priceless!

Barbara

GAGWTA!

Annrae (Barbara) so nice to see you...sorry about the "technical difficulties"!!

Before things get too crazy this weekend I want to tell you all how THANKFUL I am to have this wonderful group of friends and fellow survivors. Truly it is a blessing to have the support and friendship that I have found in the last 5+ years here.

DD and "Ranger" will be home tomorrow by the time I get home from work, we will have the big day Thursday with DS and DIL and their 3 (Avery and his 2 sisters). T-day weekend 4 years ago was his diagnosis with leukemia and we are so grateful for his remission.

Friday DH and I head to Massachusetts for my, ahem 35th :scared1: high school reunion Friday night. Does not seem at all possible! :lmao:

Blessings to you all....:grouphug:

GAGWTA, Ladies!

I haven't heard anything from Marci, but hopefully all went well yesterday.

Maryann, the tag is from a thread about rude people screaming in the halls at the resorts. I have no problem whipping the door open and staring them down. If that doesn't shut them up I will TELL THEM to stop. I marched out of my villa at SSR and told an entire group to shut up one night. I told a group of unattended screaming (AND RUNNING) preschoolers to STOP running and STOP screaming this year at AKL. Their mothers were VERY upset that I stomped out in the hall and scolded them.
