Maryann, I just heard about the earthquake in NZ!:scared1:

Please post and let us know your DH, John, is okay!

TC:cool1:

Thanks for asking Cindy. Yes, dh callled me around 3 pm. He said his secretary callled him early in the morning and asked how he was. She said they already heard about it? Honestly I didnt hear until the cbs national news at 6:30 pm. Maybe I should have put on cnn?

He said it was in christchurch and He is in Auckland. (300 miles away) He is leaving tomm. PTL. I am hoping he will get out safely and praying for him. I saw the devastation pictures. Since its one of the major airports I think it will be very busy tomm.

Meanwhile I am in the midst of the hurricaine/tropical storm stuff. Ds18 said its raining really bad right now.

Hi ladies.....sorry I have been MIA.
Really not feeling well at all the past month, though major physical stuff has been ruled out. :confused3

Just wanted to pop in -- I try to read and keep up....and each and every one of you is in my prayers and thoughts daily.:grouphug:

MaryAnn - I'm happy your husband wasn't affected by the earthquake in New Zealand. I'm sure you'll be glad when he returns home.

NHAnn - Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. I hope you find out what's causing this soon.

The bone density scan was fine. She said everything looked good. I'm sure I'll have another one sometime next year since I will be starting Arimidex instead of Tamoxifen in about a month. I also had a PETscan on Thursday. We are all praying for good test results this time. I have the MUGA heart scan this Wednesday. I'm getting tired of being scanned. . .

Good morning ladies

Ann - I am sure its frustrating you when you are not feeling well and they cant seem to get to the root of the problem. Hang in there.

Linda - how did you do weathering the hurricaine?

Lisa - I am glad your bone scan was good. I know what you mean about sick of being scanned etc. Since July I have had the bone scan, mammo, dental x rays, and now tues. is blood test etc. Sometimes you want to say gheesh, enough is enough. I think if the suirgeon says he wants a ct scan I will blow my top!!:) Adding in the nuclear scan from may too. Hmm, is there a t shirt that says I am sick of being scanned or go scan yourself:)

Well its sunny here, but windy and cool. So no bad effects from Earl her

Dh begins the journey home today. He will be back monday morning like 3 am.

My stomach is hurting me alot so this surgeon visit is coming none too soon.

GTAGWTA. Have a great day everyone.

Luvmarypoppins - you can have a T-shirt made that says whatever you want - one that says "Go Scan Yourself" sounds pretty good to me. My best friend is having one made for me that says "P... on Bladder Cancer" only she is spelling out the first word! I have been lucky to have the friends and family support that I have. It has helped a lot.

I did have an update on Friday. Based on the preliminary pathology report my doctor got, he feels that I am a good candidate at this point to keep my bladder. The re-resection showed cancer cells still in the bladder lining but not in the muscle layer. So I am a candidate for chemotherapy instead of bladder removal. Six weeks of chemo delivered right into the bladder. Fewer side effects than intravenous chemo but still not fun. Or as I told someone, I think I would rather lose my hair than have it hurt to pee all the time. Which was the major side effect after the initial dose of chemo I got after the first surgery.

Hope everyone is having a good Labor Day weekend. We've enjoyed some great weather up here in northern NH. A little rain courtesy of hurricane Earl on Friday night but other than that very pleasant.

Good afternoon ladies

PatsMom - I like your t shirt.:) So sorry that you have to go through those chemo treatments and the side effects, but it sounds like they are trying to be aggressive while trying to save the bladder, so that is a good thing. Sometimes its hard to get to where we have/want to be. Hang in there!! Fight tough!! You can do it sista!!:)

Laurie - how is your shoulder?

Well guess who just called me from California?? Of course, dh!! Yeah. He is getting on the next plane in 1 1/2 hours. All the ds are out. Ds22 - picnic, ds20 fishing with a friend and ds18 lifeguarding. Wow, I love:love: this peace and quiet. Nothing but me and the :laundy:. Ds18 says he might want to join the choir. Good they asked him before as the guy heard him singing. He diid a little easter thing. I think it would be good. That is the one thing I miss because of the cancer..not being able to sing like I use to. I use to sing with ds, just in the house. Oh well. The song is more in my heart now in stead of my vocal cords.:)

Also just got a card that says the eye doctor is back from her medical leave and we can now make appts. Gheesh, that doesnt sound too good for her. That is also the last dr. I needed appts. for dh and I with. So maybe good timing? Also I think my old ob/gyn guy might have retired. Guess I wlll look into that lady my endo told me about. My head spins with this stuff sometimes.

GTAGWTA. Have a great day everyone.

Good afternoon ladies

Linda - have your kids started school yet?

PatsMom - hope you are healing

Laurie - hope you are healed enough to go on your training trip

Lisa - hope your tests go well

KJ - are you starting a trip countdown yet?

:cool1::thumbsup2:dance3::yay: Oh yes, Praise God all is right with my world. Dh is home and treating me like the princess. Took me shopping yest. Well I did type a 6 page trip report for him last night. He bought me back some pens from the trip. I always tell him no more junk etc. He did also get me a nice cross necklace, sweet of him. I think its from a shell from NZ?.

We both got our blood tests today. Then he took me to the surgeon. The surgeon says it lookjs very good:). He just wants to let it be and see if it heals. He said he will see me in 3 months unless I need to see him sooner. He did say some people might just have chronic things like this that they have to live with. He referrred to what happened to me as "exploding".:scared1:. I told him I dont want to "explode" again. It was scary enough the lst time. He doesnt want to do a ct scan as he said you just might find stuff etc. that you should leave alone etc. So I go see him 2 days after we get back from disney. Then dh took me out to lunch to celebrate.

Dh is now going to china Sep.17-24. He cancelled his surgeon visit till oct. when he gets back.

GTAGWTA. Have a great day everyone.

Glad you got good news, MaryAnn.

I can move my shoulder more. Still waking me up at night, but I can live with it.

It won't keep me from taking my trip no how.

Ann, sorry you still have unresolved issues.

Some quasi fall weather here over the weekend, but back to our hot and humid usual today.

I wonder how it feels in WDW?

We got a new grill and my new Orleans friend came up for barbeque yesterday. Her son came in later after we finished and really wolfed it down. Made me wonder when he ate last as he left here around noon Sunday after working at the desk in one of the dorms all night.

Hi Guys,

Good news, Pats Mom.

Ann, keep us updated.

Laurie, the kids started back last week, during a heat wave with astronomical heat indexes and no AC in their classrooms. They came home like lobsters one day and DS couldn't even get his shirt off, it was stuck to him. :rotfl: It's only been in the last couple of years school's started (around here) before Labor Day and I hate it. But they're enjoying their year and the weather's back to normal for this time of year, sensing a little crispness and much less humidity.

Speaking of which - I know we share a special week this week. :bday: Around here it's DH, then me and then my mother's bdays so it's kind of a fun week. I shopped this morning for cards and cake (I'll have a piece for you, lmp! ), DH and I will have a day off together alone (kind or rare) so we're planning what we should do. I'm thinking breakfast at our favorite place and then a nice long walk with the dog somewhere. My brother's coming down to take us all out to dinner, too. Are you doing anything special for yours?

Right back at you, Linda.

I was about to comment as well but I could not remember which came first yours or your DH's. So his is today, mine is tomorrow and yours is Friday? Why can I not remember from year to year? Senior moment?

What kind of cake did you go for?

Whoopee!

I got to sleep till 7 am today, which was really sweet, as DH took DD14 to 6 am mass that she attends every week with her friends.

I feel like I got a present one day early, sleeping late like that during the week.

I splunged over the weekend and bought new 600 thread count sheets and a new equaly soft duvet cover. I think I am trying to recreate the Waldorf in my bedroom. It won't work, it is not Orlando.

DD20 is driving in tonight from New Orleans so she can go for her annual checkup tomorrow early before class. We are going out to the good Japanese hibachi restaurant to eat tonight to celebrate.

I have not seen her since August 1st when we had mom's birthday bash so I am anxius to see her.

Glad your temps came down a bit. I hope there won't be any more scorchers for your kids. I cannot imagine not have a/c in the class rooms. Actually back in the olden days when I was in high school in New Orleans, I attended a public magnet school uptown, blocks away from Tulane where DD20 attends today. The school was located at the time in a circa 1850's building with no a/c but the building had very high ceilings, nice wood floors, and huge windows. It was still hot in the afternoon and humid of course but at least we caught a breeze.

Not sure how I made it through those 3 years but that school sure helped me get a great start in life, in many ways.

We had only 100 in our class, and they dispersed all over the country for college and careers as most were high achievers, but you know about half of those surviving at this point are on facebook. I am on facebook too but it is a little too consuming for me so I am on there sporadically.

I am not feeling nearly already 57 but I guess I am.

Mom took me and my cousing who lives in Baton Rouge out to eat lunch yesterday. Nice week!

GAGWTA!

What kind of cake did you go for?
Just done making it.

Chocolate/chocolate with a small amount of raspberry preserves between layers. I simply CANNOT wait to have a piece of this after dinner tonight :lmao: (but I'll be good and leave it intact!)....

Chocolate and raspberry. . . um sounds divine.

Please give your DH birthday greetings from me.

Glad your kids are enjoying things so far. DD14 seems ok in high school as well. Thanks goodness the scholl is close to my office and that we have an afternnon carpool. DH leaves at 6:45 in the am to drop her off before going to work out. He is a workout buff with this diabetes thing. I am proud of him.

Ho Ho, I saw the orthpedic doc for a followup today. He spotted the limited range of motion right away. My right arm is at 40-50% of the left.

Off to physical therapy for me.

I spoke to the therapist who is going to do my assessment this Friday. She warned me it is painful. Some patients take pain medication beforehand. I can't take advil either.

I described my experience with the PRP injection. She has worked with other patients who had it and she said they described the experience just like I did over the phone with her today.

The doc asked a lot of quaestions about what I experienced that first week, and recorded it all on his recorder. I feel like a guinea pig.

Thanks MaryAnn. Had a nice one. When I got home today from carpool, DH really surprised me with 2 dozen long stem red, pink and yellow roses. Only problem was I sliced my finger instead of the end of the stem when I was putting them in a vase but I will recover.

Great, funny dinner last night at the hibachi place. Gosh we laughed. I love it when DD20 is home.

We are cheering on the Saints over here tonight, and I just watched Momma Mia on HBO. Meryl Streep is on of our nation's treasures.

Thanks for posting the story about Jennifer Griffin, Bilberry. She sounds like a real fighter. We have triple negatives here on our thread. There is a wealth of info included in the story about Jennifer Griffin.

Linda

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! and did you notice lots of cake??? I will have a virtual piece of your chocolate/raspberry cake. Enjoy your day sista!! (And happybirthday to your dh too)

Good morning sistas

Laurie - Glad you had a great time for your b day yest. Hope the finger heals quickly. Ouch!!

Linda - I hope you have a great birthday too today.

Lisa - how is your testing going?

PatsMom - Hope you are healing

Well tomm. I will be doing alot of cooking for our annual church picnic that is sun. Got my hair done yest. Ds22 got to call a lady and tell her she won a trip as part of a promotion the credit union was having. Sweet!! Ds20 hasnt picked up a book to study yet. I sense trouble ahead. Ds18 is studying his heart out etc.

Something is going on at dh work again. He thinks a boss knows something and wont tell dh. Says he is making the biggest mistake of his life going to the other dept. Dh is going to question the new boss about the funding. Right now his boss who is the main reason he is leaving is not around. Hmm, what is up with that. He did mention he could go back to Ill. to his old govt. job. etc. We will see how this soap opera unfolds. Dh practically told the big boss he knows they could stop his transfer if something happened etc. I hate drama.

GTAGWTA. Have a great day everyone.

Hi everybody! I've been following along, just haven't posted in ages. :surfweb: Guess I went into lurker mode over the summer!

Looks like a birthday party is going on! :bday:

It's been a pretty productive summer at our house, got a lot of landscaping done. DH built a very nice limestone retaining wall in the front, lots of planting, etc. Looks great and is just about finished. We ended up not taking a vacation this summer.....spent all the money on projects instead! LOL. Finally got our driveway paved with concrete after 10 years of living here. We live in a rural area, so its not uncommon to have a gravel driveway, but the concrete sure is nice.

DD21 was just accepted in the Disney college program for next Spring, so that's really exciting! :cheer2: We already have a trip planned for over Christmas, and then she will be back there Jan 17 until the end of May. I'm expecting that we'll visit her at least once while she's there, so I'm excited about that. :thumbsup2 CP looks like an awesome program, never mind that she will get to live and work at WDW!

GAGWTA!!! Here's hoping that you all have a good day! pixiedust:

Thank you! :goodvibes DH asked me what I wanted for dinner tonight and I said "breakfast", so we're having friends over (who made us dinner last night, lol) for breafast for dinner. Oh and he's making me a spice cake! I'll be sure to have a "piece of cake" for you all! :rotfl2:
