Wow! I can't believe it took me this long to find this thread. I guess it was only now that I felt comfortable typing "breast cancer" in the search function. I'm still adjusting to being part of this particular club. A little background - I went for my mammogram 2 weeks after my 40th birthday last fall and was diagnosed with Stage IIA IDC. Lumpectomy in November, chemo December thru Feb, radiation ended May 1. So I figured it is over, right? Well, no - right now my whole family is gathering for a vacation in Cape Cod, one specifically planned for this time so that I would surely be feeling well enough to come and here I sit, stuck at home with a staph infection. I surely was not expecting this so long after surgery. I'm still holding out hope that these antibiotics kick in and we will be able to make it for at least part of the week.
I am, as ever, shocked to see how many of us there are, and inspired by the level of support. These boards and the podcast have been my refuge during these past 9 months, and I am eagerly awaiting our first Disney cruise in December (my 1 year survivor present to myself).
Blessings to all! And I look forward to getting to know you better.
