I did receive my results the next day. Very fast compared to later biopsies.

Linda,

Good luck tomorrow. What time is your appointment? I'll say my usual prayers for you at that time. And I am sending lots of pixie dust and hugs :grouphug: to you right now. Will this be screening or diagnostic mammos?

Susan, I didn't want to quote you on it but sorry, I had to :rotfl2: about the breast size thing. Uhh, what we women have to go through!! :faint:
Roll away, my friend ... roll away!!! It's true -- I am tiny!!!

I'll be thinking of you as I'm in the dentist chair myself that day!! :teeth:
I'm having my annual mammograms tomorrow morning so I'm a little nervous tonight. Last year was a nightmare so I'm trying to stay positive and calm - I have to work tonight and will go downstairs to the breast imaging dept right afterward. P&PD is always welcome! :wizard:
And, I will be thinking of you as I try to reign in my 12 Kdg. students and prepare them for a "missing teacher" who will be out for 7-10 days due to an appendectomy. I figure this biopsy will be a piece of cake compared to the appendectomy!!!

ETA -- loads of P&PD going out to you!!!!

Thanks for the warm thoughts!

Thanks, guys, I'm verklempt. :sad1:

8:30am.

Sorry Linda, what is verklempt?

I'll be at mass in the morning, hope you don't mind a few Catholic prayers. :bitelip:

LOL, snappy. When I read your posts I got a lump in my throat. The word verklempt came to me but I wasn't sure what it meant. I looked it up in the dictionary but couldn't find it - so I asked DH what it meant to him and he said "choked up" so it somehow seemed to be the right word! :rotfl:

Linda -- I have to take my students to mass tomorrow (parochial school teacher here) at 8:00. Like another poster said, if you don't mind Catholic prayers, I'll be sending them your way!!!

Best of luck you you!!!! ~ Susan

I think younger women are able to cope with leaving the hospital a little earlier. Especially if they are not dealing with other health issues as well as the BC. I am not sure about your mom's age or general health status but I am convinced it is a factor.

My mum is 57 and apart from the bc, has no underlying health issues. She managed to walk around a little yesterday with a nurse's help. She walked to the bathroom, VICTORY!!! :cool1:

You're probaby right about the drugs still being in her system and affecting her. They're good at the time but she's better off now.

She's getting back to her usual self more and more. One of the other women in the ward is very interfering and not very nice according to my mum. I don't know what she said or did but yesterday my mum complained about her to one of the nurses and they had to go and speak to her. I think she's leaving today so there will be no more trouble from her.

Susan - you are going to have quite a week next week! I wish you the best of luck with the biopsy and appendectomy. What a combo.

Susan- I'm so glad you got in quick for your appt! I was small breasted and in some ways that is in your favor! Easier to find things, you know?!? But unfortunately typically they are more dense, so they can be harder to read on mamms. I had a core needle biopsy once, so that's a slightly different procedure, but I wanted to add that I had my hubby with me for that. I only ever went to my diagnostic mamm/ultrasound alone. Otherwise I found it better to have him or my sister (critical care nurse) with me, not only for the comfort and company, but an extra set of ears and eyes. I kept a small notebook for questions and had one of them take notes for me during appts and help remember exactly what was said. It's hard to take it all in when you are the one they're talking about and you're scared your head is spinning! :upsidedow I still do it today.
Thinking of you and praying your surgery goes well and of course for the biopsy! :flower3:

Louise- Your mum sounds like she's doing great! It's especially good to hear she's speaking up for herself - good for her!!! :cheer2:

Snappy- I'll tell Nik about the mold issue. Thinking of you and your's and praying each day is better than the day before...

Linda- sending prayers and pixie dust your way sista! :wizard: Hopefully today will go smoothly and make up for last time!

:grouphug:

Wanted to let you know my mammograms were ok today!! I'm so relieved!! Thank you so much for the prayers!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

:sunny: GAGWTA sistas! :sunny:

Linda- Whoooo hoooo!!!! :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

My infusion went great...no reactions! It was a long, but good day!
Thank you for your prayers!!! :daisy:

Blessings to all of you!

My friend started her chemo on Wed. She underwent a lumpectomy a couple of weeks ago and there was cancer in 3 lymph nodes. She had a mediport installed last week. Her PET was clear on Friday!

What I would like to know from you incredible ladies is what *I* can do from afar for her. We live in different states and I have been sending cards, emails, etc. Is there anything else that I can do to show that I am thinking of her? She knows I have a hot line to St. Agatha and pray for her daily!

GAGWTA!!!! :sunny:

Hooray for Laura and Linda!!! I've been thinking about you two all yesterday and today. Glad to see things are going well.

My radiotactic core needle biopsy is on Mon. I *wish* I could get immediate results! However, I'll be too busy dealing w/the appendectomy on Tues. to really focus on the results. You can bet on Thurs. am, I'll feel well enough to be phoning Dr. to get results, though!!!!

I won't be on the boards for awhile as I'll be recovering from appendectomy (and the laptop isn't working, darn it!), but when I get biopsy results, I'll ask DH (aka Daxx) to post on this thread to give you all results.

Hugs to all! Have a great weekend! Susan

Pinnie, it's hard when you're in another state. Some things you can do include:

providing dinner (hard when you aren't close-by, but you could send a gift certificate and they'd just have to pick it up?)

send a care package - I got everything from a package of homemade cookies to good smelling bath splash to an aroma therapy candle (anything to lift the spirits)

make her laugh (I believe that laughter is the best medicine and makes us forget about our woes)

I'm into positive thinking, so tuck some inspirational quotes in her emails (it's a little thing, but may lift her up when she's feeling down)

Just keep letting her know you're there for her is the biggest thing. You sound like a wonderful friend!

Susan, did anyone answer you about the tags? They put tiny little "markers" in my breast where they removed tissue. These show up in mammograms as little dots. These allow them to watch that area carefully to see if any calcifications return. If they need to do surgery, this will also pinpoint the area where they removed calcifications.

You sure have a busy week! That's good in a way. You'll be too busy recovering to worry. I'm really hoping that you get wonderful news! Try to have a restful weekend. You continue to be in my prayers.

Louise your mum sounds like she's doing great! Hang in there.

Yay for good mammograms! :cheer2: I'm due for mine in the next few weeks and they've lost my appointment. Haven't called yet because we're having insurance issues. Hope to have it straightened out soon. If not, I'll just have to go and pay. I promise I'm not going to miss a screening. Just would prefer to get in when insurance isn't being so goofy. (We're under COBRA right now and besides being very expensive they're frustrating. They admit we've paid, but the insurance company doesn't show us having coverage. COBRA keeps saying they'll fix it, but so far they haven't. Sigh)

I know I've missed responding to some of you. Just know that you're all in my thoughts and prayers. GAGWTA!

GAGWTA!!

Hello to all....I am back from a great week of R&R. Thought of you all often.

Susan...welcome :grouphug:

Will be back later to read/respond!

GAGWTA!!

Hugs to all,
Susan

Pinnie- I think what you are doing is wonderful! Just keep it up, and keep in mind what she is doing for treatment and her reactions. That will help you decide what to send. Comfort items are nice, but be careful of scents if she becomes sensitive to that. I'm praying that she is kickin' some bc butt!!!

Susan- I bet you never thought this appendectomy would be such a distraction! I am praying for you, and look forward to hearing your update from Daxx. I hope you have a beautiful day today! :flower:

MerryPoppins- That's awful! I hope you get the ins. straightened out soon!!! Praying you do sista...

Ann- ahhhhhh....well deserved R&R ...welcome back!

You are absolutely right about that!!! I am honestly grateful that I have something else going on to take my mind off of things. I wish it weren't surgery, though! :rotfl: However, knowing me, I'll get out of the appendectomy surgery and be immediately anxious for results on the biopsy!!! Naaah ... I'll be too busy feeling like I've been dragged all around town by my heels!

GAGWTA! Have a super day!!! :sunny:
