Dirty rooms at the BC

I appreciated those photos. :thumbsup2

My comments were toward other posters who recommended/preferred the technique of online "venting" vs. just taking care of the problem directly. I continue to find Disney very responsive when I have a question or concern. They do care.:goodvibes

Agree! ( Ginny! :goodvibes )

I totally agree with address the problem while there, or these type of situations will continue because management needs to know what room it was at that particular time so they can address who is responsible. They need to actually see it and not hear about it after the fact.

Go the front desk and ask for the on duty manager, do not settle for anyone less. Also if necessary call from your room to housekeeping and ask for the on duty housekeeping manager.

Do not leave your concern with someone who can not make it right.

I stayed at BC for the first time April 2012. Although I loved the location of our room, 3rd floor, corner room ( huge huge balcony) very easy access to Epcot. I definitely had things broken/dirty in my room.. Most days we put the do not disturb sign on our door, especially if we were going to the pool. Then when we knew we would b leaving for a long period of time we would take it off. More times than not, this back-fired on us as 3 out of the 7 nights we were there our room was never cleaned.
That being said, I feel so lucky to b able to fake my family to Disney that I try not to complain about what I call the small stuff..
I loved SAb, but I think I think if I had the money again I would try the yacht club..

When I first started reading this thread over a week ago, I was quite nervous. We were leaving for our first BC stay last weekend, staying there on Monday and Tuesday Oct 8/9. I was thrilled to finally be seeing SAB in person!

Well, we had a great room on the club level overlooking the pool, harbor, and the BWI. It was neat and clean, the club lounge was great, and SAB was everything I had imagined it would be. The only thing I would comment on is that the hallways could use a touch up paint job on both the walls and the trim, and the carpeting looked pretty worn also.

That being said, I would not hesitate to stay again, even with the exorbiant prices... I think it is well worth it.

I'm not understanding the reason for putting a do not disturb sign on your door while you're out of the room at the pool. That would be a good time to have your room serviced.
At any hotel, Disney or other, if I come back after 12 or 1pm and my room isn't serviced, I just pick up the phone and ask the housekeeping desk to service my room, please. (I don't expect them to show up in the next 3 minutes, I just want to be on the list.) Sometimes a room is skipped, it happens. No big deal, just let them know.
There isn't any reason for a guest to do without services that they have paid for. :goodvibes

If we know that we are going to b back to the room in an hour or so or we are staying at the resort for the day then we would put the dnd sign on the door because we don't want to need the room and have to wait to get in there..

I think folks should do what makes them the most comfortable, it's vacation time after all.
For me, thought, if I come back to my room and the housekeeper is there (Disney or other) I nicely tell them I'm back, and come on in the room. I don't wait outside, and they are usually done in less than 5 minutes.

Sorry, this is long! So readers beware! :)

This past summer I decided to take an impromptu, late August DW trip, since the great discounts came out. I've never taken my boys anywhere alone, but I figured that they were old enough now to stay with me and be safe. I was expecting this to be an easy trip, based on our April 2012 BCV stay, which is why I risked my first trip alone with my two older boys (6 and 5...left the 2 year old at home!). Well, it turned out to be a horribly stressful trip, and I'll try to give you the "abbreviated" version of what went on.

Checked in Tuesday night, they only had a king room with a rollaway bed. I asked for our groceries and stroller to be sent over to the room and the boys and I walked over to see where the room was and to drop off some stuff and head to EPCOT. The room was 1st floor on a corner, RIGHT next to a back exit. We came back from EPCOT around 12:30 am to find NO groceries/NO stroller. I tried to call the front desk/bell services, but the phone didn't even have a dial tone (it was plugged in, I checked). I had to re-dress the boys and walk down to the lobby. They said that they'd send the stuff to the room and make a note to fix the phone in the morning. By 1:30 am I had mostly unpacked and they finally delivered the stroller and only some of our groceries (Garden Grocer delivered them to BWI!). Bell services promised to go get the rest of the groceries and bring them in the morning. Garden Grocer never responded to my email about the delivery mix-up. Anyway, the room turned out to be awful b/c my kids are wiggly sleepers, there was luggage rolling by the room all night, and the exit door slammed/people talked loudly coming in and out all night too. None of us slept well at all.

Wednesday morning I got up to get ready and the hair dryer DIDN'T work. I still couldn't call bell services from the broken phone, so on our way out to MK I asked the frong desk AGAIN to have the phone and hair dryer fixed, and reminded bell services about the rest of our groceries. We were promised it'd all be taken care of when we returned. Also, EVERY morning, before we left for the parks, I packed up a lot of our stuff to have it out of the way for the housekeepers. That turned out to be a waste of good park time. We came back the first day around 2:30pm to a room that hadn't been cleaned, nothing had been fixed, and still no more groceries. I put my boys down for a nap and went down to the lobby to talk to them AGAIN (I wouldn't normally leave them, but I thought I could get back within 5 minutes or so!). This time the CM offered to move me to a double queen room, no day bed. When he switched the rooms in the system, the CM said that I was now locked out of the room where my boys were sleeping, but INSISTED that I had to immediately pack and get out of there so that they could re-sell the room! I asked him how I could even get in, let alone pack up the room, and how could I call for a bellman with no working phone? It took him 20 minutes to find someone to let me in, but they both insisted that they didn't have time to wait for me to pack, so a bellman would come back at some point in the future. I packed up and about 30 minutes later a bellman came with a luggage cart, which I loaded while he called the front desk to see which room I would be in, since the one they had switched me to had already been given away! I woke up my exhausted boys and moved finally to a double queen room with day bed (the one good thing, so that they could sleep better in separate beds!). I reminded the bellman that I was waiting for groceries, and he promised to send them. This room was much better, and since everyone was up we decided to head back to the parks. We came home around 11 pm to NO MORE GROCERIES again. :( I called and reminded bell services that I was waiting for them. They promised to send them in the morning since it was so late.

Thursday morning, nothing was delivered to us before we headed out to AK. When we came back from AK around 2, the room hadn't been cleaned yet, but the groceries were FINALLY delivered, so I took the boys to the pool. We went back to the room after 4 and it still hadn't been cleaned. There was a housekeeper in the hallway, so I asked her if I could take a quick shower and then she could clean, assuming that our room would be one of the next ones. She asked me to write "5 pm", as her return time, and sign a piece of paper, so I did. We headed out to Epcot for the evening, returned at 10 and the room WAS NOT cleaned!

Friday morning we headed to HS. Came back around 2:45 and the room hadn't been cleaned yet again. By this point I was out of clean towels, coffee pods, clean glasses/mugs, toiletries, etc., so I called Mousekeeping to ask to please go ahead and send someone to the room. I'd take the boys down to the lobby, skipping naps again, so that it could be done. 20 minutes later the housekeeper showed up and said "You needed me to come back?", and I told her that NO ONE had cleaned our room since we'd been there. She didn't say anything. We went to the lobby for an hour, where I went back to the concierge to ask him to cancel our April trip to BC. I was so frustrated at this point, almost in tears, and ready to just go home. He asked if the boys liked ice cream and if that would help me decide to keep the reservation. I told him no thank you, and he called over the female hotel manager. I told her what had been going on, she appologized, gave me her card and told me to call if I decided to come back so that she could take care of us, and she comped the wasted groceries and food we had to buy in the parks instead for 2.5 days (VERY nice of her, since it was really Garden Grocer at fault for delivering the food to BWI, but since Bell Services kept promising that they'd fix it and never followed through, she felt they were at fault too).

When we returned to the room, the housekeeper had only made the beds (changed sheets? I don't know) and put more towels in the room. Nothing had been cleaned, the coffee mugs were just rinsed out and sitting on the counter with coffee rings still in them, NO replenished toiletries or coffee, and she didn't even clean out the old coffee pod. The housekeeper definitely took her tip envelope though!!! I went out in the hallway to ask another housekeeper if this was a standard cleaning and she said no, appologized for the other housekeeper, and replenished the room for me. I couldn't believe all this was STILL happening!!!

Saturday morning, packing to leave, my 5 year old woke up and told me that he found a peanut in his bed during the night. I said "That's gross, you didn't eat it did you?", to which he said "No, I hid it in my covers". He started digging around between the blankets and pulled out what looked like a ball of POOP!!!!!!!!! I immediately yelled for him to drop it and come wash his hands, and then I called the housekeeping line to ask for a manager to come down. (BTW, my 5 year old has been potty trained for over 3 years and NEVER has accidents, so I know whatever this thing was WASN'T his!). My 6 year old son yelled that there was another piece of poop looking stuff on the floor. The manager came and picked up the stuff, appologized and said the last night would be comped.

Anyway, I'm so sad to have, what was, my favorite resort ruined for me, but I just think it'd be really dumb to go back and risk this kind of thing/these kinds of things happening again. Just the stress alone was enough to ruin the whole trip. Well, along with the HOUR LONG bus trip from the park to BC, where the three of us had to stand the whole time, smashed between the seats, as we were the fifth stop! I think it was from AK...but no one got off the bus until YC/BC. There were only people getting on and the driver kept telling everyone to move back and make room. It was totally rediculous and my boys were getting really mad and tired of standing up for so long.

I went ahead and cancelled our April 2013 trip completely, and switched our December 2013 trip from BC to the Polynesian. The reservations CM encouraged me to try BC again in December and definitely call the manager for her help, but I still don't think it'd be worth it. BC has some major housekeeping issues, and trouble with following up on what they say they'll do!

Sorry for the bad experience. But if I had that bad of housekeeping the last thing I would do is leave a tip envelope. Also the part about the groceries and the stroller have nothing to do with the BC. You need to take that up directly with the company that you ordered them from. Also the bus situation is another problem that is not directly the BC's problem. It is a Disney problem and it can happen at any resort.

I agree with the pp that the time to address housekeeping issues was while you are in the room (this is important, not only for the OP, but for anyone that has any issues during their stay). I know housekeeping forgot to leave my mom coffee and creamer and a quick call to HK promptly took care of it.

I just stayed at BC and received a survey about my stay. It asked about cleanliness and housekeeping. If you receive the survey, please take it. It will tell management what is not right. If you still have feedback, you can send it to the email they provide at the end of the survey:

While it's not possible for us to personally respond to comments provided in the survey you just completed, should you have comments about a particular Walt Disney World® experience that you would like to have addressed individually, please email our Guest Correspondence department directly at wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com.

Okay, I'll tell my BC story. Last May I had a split stay, first at the BWV, then moving over to BCV. My BWV studio was lovely, & I had a boardwalk view. My room was very close to the lobby, which I loved. The downside was that I'm not a huge fan of the BW decor, and I heard a LOT of noise from going on on the boardwalk every morning around 4:30-5am. Not from partyers, but from employees moving large metal carts, etc, I guess getting ready for the day.

I was so excited to move over to the BCV. We stayed at the BC for a few years many years ago, which started my love for the BC. We bought a BCV DVC ten years ago. Our initial stays were great. Everything beautiful, service great, etc. The last few times we've stayed there, I noticed the rooms had a ton of damage to them, not just wear & tear. It appeared someone stuck holes in the tv armoire in the living room, like a kid used a thumbtack or something. There were nicks & dents all over the furniture. The upholestery was stained. I didn't understand why these rooms weren't being upkept with the member dues. I didn't notice such deterioration in the other DVC resorts I've stayed at.

After switching to my BCV studio this past May, my room was ready upon check in. Yippee!! I go to my room, call for my luggage, and then go to check on my view, which is always one of the first things I do. I was on the first floor, so had a patio. Laying there was a bunny, obviously dying. I was immediately freaked out. I didn't open the sliding door, but was looking to see if it had been attacked by an animal, or if it appeared injured. I didn't see any apparent injuries, but I could not believe that housekeeping hadn't seen this bunny laying there! It didn't appear that the bunny just recently appeared. What if I had small children with me? Not a good way to start off the trip. I immediately called back to the front desk to tell them, and they said they would send someone up. I told them I did not want to stay in this room any longer. At that point the bellman showed up with my luggage, and I told him to turn around and take it back. He must have thought I was nuts.

The next room was okay, but still really dingy looking. Light bulbs out, sinks not clean, I was like, ugh! I could have stayed at the BWV, in fact, I called from the BWV to see if the BCV had any openings for the last part of my vacation. Stupid me.

Then after a few days, I noticed my credit card was being charged daily, even though I had charging priviledges on my room key, up to $1500. I had no issues at the BWV. I went down to the front desk, and they couldn't give me an explanation. They said they would fix it. Next day, same thing. Back to the front desk. Still don't know why it's happening. Said they'll fix it again. It was never fixed. I asked to speak to the manager, and I let him know about everything I was unhappy about. He listened, but I don't feel confident he really gave a crap.

I'm so disappointed about the way the BC seems to be being run these days. I'm giving them one more chance. I have a reservation booked for May, at the BCV, and we'll see. If things are still crappy, I may sell my BCV DVC. I still have one at VWL.

So does anyone have any stories of CLEAN rooms at BC?? I'm getting worried since we're staying there in December!!

Report from last weekend. Pristine. I'm not worried. Based on all of my experiences with Disney, I am confident that if there are EVER any issues with my stay, they will take care of it. ::yes::

We stayed at the BC just this past August for 10 days and I can honestly tell you that our room was very clean. We had no issues with Mousekeeping and had an excellent stay (we stayed CL). Last year, we stayed at BC as well in October and again, our room was clean with no issues. I will say that the biggest issue we had on this past trip was with very noisy neighbors (not the fault of the resort). I put up with that the first night only. The following morning, we complained to management and the problem was taken care of. I have to agree that any issues that arise should be taken care of while there and do not settle if you're not getting results - no matter where you're staying. I would not hesitate to stay at the BC again, in fact it's our favorite resort so far and if we can swing another stay next Summer, we'll be there!

I did, but a few of these stories seem to be cropping up here and there, so I thought I'd ask. Just trying to make sure our vacation goes smoothly, it's costing a dollar or two. ;) I also ask because we had a "musty" room last December, though they did move us and the second room was fine.

I too would trust Disney would take care of it (as they did last year). Just a little disconcerting with a few of these posts. And of course, more people tend to post bad comments because they are upset vs. those that post good reviews because they were content/happy with their stay.

Most of us would certainly agree a Disney vacation costs a dollar or three. I don't find the "bad" posts disconcerting, frequently it seems like they are basically vents. Most all the resorts seem to take a turn with a new or zombie thread started/revived with one unhappy post and others chime in. Next month it will be a different resort.
I rarely read about a guest that went to the the front desk, in person, and or called housekeeping, and had a bad result at any resort. I've found it's pretty easy to fix a reasonable problem, polite firmness works well. Occasionally one has to be a bit persistent, but I think that's time well spent. JMO, I would always rather fix the problem, and resume enjoying my vacation. The other option is to not fix it, stew, and be annoyed.
Selecting one or the other is a personal choice, and I understand that.
I have always found Disney to be responsive to reasonable guest concerns. They really do care. :thumbsup2

Exactly what I was saying.. Things happen.. But there not so big that they will ruin my trip.. I feel lucky to just be there.. And really lucky that April will be my 4th time since 2008.. :)

BBM-I so agree with you!!!:thumbsup2
It's nice to know that Disney has folks who really do want to help, but they aren't mind readers. It's up to us to let them know if there is a problem, and work with them toward a solution. :cool1:

Wow, I have to say I'm surprised. We stayed at BC CL August 2011, and thought it was wonderful. Both CL halls and our room were spotless, I can't believe this is the same resort that many complained about on this thread. I can't believe things went down hill in just over a year :confused3

So does anyone have any stories of CLEAN rooms at BC?? I'm getting worried since we're staying there in December!!

Absolutley! We stayed there a year ago and everything was clean. Room, halls, everything. I just booked for next summer, but decided to try YC, just because i want to cross it off my bucket list, I think it's always fun to try new resorts. But i love BC and would go back in a heartbeat.
