YOu know how much we love Dirty Dancing the film :)

The main actors from the Australian show at the London launch
Hit 1980s film Dirty Dancing is to become a West End stage show with open auditions for the roles made famous by Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.

Tickets for the coming-of-age musical go on sale on Tuesday.

Special effects will help re-create famous scenes from the film including an episode on a lake where Johnny lifts Baby out of the water.

The play has been adapted by the original writer Eleanor Bergstein.

"People have asked why I decided to do the stage show after all this time," she said.

"I realised people were seeing the movie over and over again. I got the idea that what they really wanted was to feel like they were there. That can happen in live theatre.

"The show has everything from the film, and more," she added.

The soundtrack to Dirty Dancing has sold over 41 million copies and the theme tune (I've Had) The Time of My Life won the Oscar for best song in 1988.

This sounds great :thumbsup2

It does sound good Kaylee, I'm just surprised they haven't done it before now!

Wicked is a musical about the witches from the Wizard of Oz in their early days. It's on Broadway at the moment, and is meant to be fantastic, it's gained quite a cult following.

Dirty Dancing's opening in September, tickets are on sale now. The Sound of Music is sometime in 2007, but first Andrew Lloyd Webber needs to conduct a year long, televised search for his Maria

All the shows are going to be in London.

(Just call me your resident musical theatre expert :teeth: )

Thanks, just got an email from Ticketmaster all about Wicked, it looks great, but I think I have to see Dirty Dancing first.

I am currently planning a trip on 4th Nov with my friends and maybe some family members.

Can't wait.

I LOVE going to theatre.
