I will not let Comcast back in my house ever! We have had only antenna tv since back in the spring while it was okay then now football season is here and is not offered on our three sometimes four channels and DH is not happy. So he has agreed with no extra lunches, food purchases, or frivolous spending at work we can possibly get satellite to satisfy his Ravens hunger.

Which do you prefer Directv or Dish Network? Any reason to avoid one over the other. I would hopefully get one of the cheapest packages without add on channels ie HBO, showtime, etc. We are in MD and are Ravens fans so we would just need the local CBS and NBC affiliates out of Baltimore which is about an hour and half from us. We currently get another local CBS affiliate but they aren't carrying the games for some stupid reason. If it matters we would likely get 3 rooms hooked up. What is your suggestions and how much should I be looking to spend with your company? Thanks for any help you can offer!

We have Dish and love it! I have never had directv, so I don't know much about them. We have a low low plan, it is just enough channels for us, as we are not big tv watchers.

We've had both in the past and prefer Dish. Their regular prices (after introductory offers are over) and much less than DirecTV.

We have DirectTV only for NFL Sunday Ticket. You have no choice but to go with DirectTV if you want this. However, if you live in the same city as your team, you are probably good with Dish. We live in CT and my husband roots for the San Diego Chargers.

We have had Dish since 1997 with no problems at all. We have been happy with the service, upgrade options, etc. I do not consider it cheap, but we do have some "extras" that we could do without in a punch.

I've had both-- Dish from 1997-spring 2009 and Direct TV since.

Either will be better than Comcrap.

You'll need to figure out what channels are important to you (i.e. Do you want NFL Sunday Ticket -- if so, have to go with Direct) and see who will give you the best deal. I would guess you'll be happy with whomever you go with, since you only have to Comcast to compare them to.

I currently have both DiSH and DirecTV. DirecTV is, worlds and above, the better service - better quality, better tuners, better user interface, better overall channel selection.

We only have DiSH to get some international networks not on DirecTV. I hate the whole user interface on the DiSH tuners.

Since we root for the hometeam Baltimore Ravens that should not be a problem at all for us. I do not plan on need the NFL Sunday Ticket. I have two CBS affiliate stations which are both about an hour or so from us. Last year they both ran the games but for some reason this year only the one in Baltimore is running them. The one I can't pickup with the antenna.

My grandmother had Direct TV since I can remember but she just recently switched to Dish. She said all this time Direct TV was lying to her and she looked them up and they had 39,000 complaints in one month. Id go with Dish

I will never, ever, ever use DirecTV again. We had them once and when we moved and canceled service (after more than fulfilling the contract we signed), they sent our account to a collections agency without ever even notifying us that there was a problem.

Apparently, they were charging us for return of equipment which our contract specifically said was ours to keep. When I called and pointed this out, the customer service rep tried to tell me that she had my account in front of her and no where did it say we were to keep the equipment. She said if we didn't send them $300 immediately, they would continue with collections.

Luckily, I keep all my paperwork, dug out the contract, made a copy highlighting the part that said we got to keep the equipment and sent it off with a nasty letter saying that if they ever contacted me again, or if our credit score was damaged by their falsely sending us to collections, we'd be taking legal action against them. We never heard from them again. I've read of at least 3 other people that this same thing has happened to.

Like I said, I'd never use DirecTV again because they obviously have dishonest business practices, but if you do, be sure to take copious notes on everyone you talk to and keep all your paperwork, because if you ever try to cancel service, they might try to screw you over too.

We have had Directv since 1999 I believe it was. We had a brief time with Time Warner Cable when we moved because we rented a condo for a while before buying our new house, but we quickly went back to Directv because we hated cable!

I don't know about Dish, but for us, we have no reason to switch.

I think you are going to get answers on both ends of the spectrum. We have had both dish and direct tv.for us directtv is by far better. For me customer service is better, the user interface is better, equipment is wY better, channels are better, Prices are better. But that's just what works for me.

I have had Direct for about 15 years and have been pleased with them. If you are an AT&T customer you may get a discount if you order Directv through them. It is not a lot but every little bit helps.

We were so relieved when our contract with Directv was up. We had nothing but problems with their service. Our bill was a different amount every month, even though we had the same service. Their customer service representatives hung up on my husband on multiple occasions when he called to ask about the billing. We just switched back over to Dish and are very happy with it so far.

Direct TV all the way it is much better than dish and well it also has some really great deals

....quality is fine and simply costs less. We love having the iPhone app....we don't feel like we went "cheap" at all.
