When I was on the main road to enter WDW, the signs stated that Fort Wilderness traffic should stay in the left 2 lanes...in doing so, now I have to get into the extreme right lane with traffic all around and pass thru the toll booths. There are no signs on the left side stating that you should be in the right lane, also there are no signs once you get thru the booths to make the first right toward Fort Wilderness...for me it was not a pleasant trip to try and find this place. I think more and better signs should be posted. Trying to maneuver a larger 5th wheel is not that easy on small streets. Does anyone have an address for Disney that I can write to them. Once we got to our site, it was like heaven on earth...we did enjoy our stay :furious:

you can go to www.disneyworld.com and there will be a place where you can "contact us". There is a place where you can air your difficulties....I agree it is a bit confusing the first time you go but well worth the hassel!!! :thumbsup2 :cool1:  princess: :joker: :bounce: :goofy: :ccat: :tink:

I can't believe I didn't warn you about getting into that right lane at the toll booth. Sorry about that. I guess it just becomes second nature after a while. Glad you enjoyed the rest of your stay. We'll have to get together so you can tell me all about it.

Jim

There is 1 sign, just after the tollbooth on the far right side. Unless you're in the far right lane when you go through it, you'll probalby miss it. WDW is twice the size of Manhattan, and only has half the signs of Boston (I think they had about 3 last time I drove through...)

Thanks everyone, at least now I know what to do....it was a bit confusing though. The other thing that I noticed not about directions, but the laundry...they do not have any dye and scent free detergent for those allergic to that type of soap. I don't use that type, but carry with me for our son's fiance', but a young couple needed some for their children and I gave them ours to use, hey that is what camping is all about....then my other, not really a gripe, would be nice to have a wifi set up in the campgrounds...it was tough coming home to over 200 emails in one week...time to change the email address again....hate that spam....
Thanks for letting me gripe and yes I will contact Disney and be tactful about it. Would really like not to be at home :dance3:

I agree, this is what camping is all about. In the middle of last camping season we we at a nice state park and noticed that the folks in the next site were having "trouble" with their campfire. We were able to give "dad" som dry wood and small kindling so he could build a nice fore for the kids. Keeep helping your fellow campers.

Internet is available at the preferred sites, but at $10 a night I think I'll pass. I have finally worked out my e-mail on my cell phone (Palm Treo). Now I get my spam real time, but i can clean things up while I am traveling without having to log in.

I'll never understand disney's roads. There is almost always a better way to get there, then follow their directions. You just have to know the roads. After some experimenting, I found this way...

You want to get to the red X. Disney wants you to take the blue way. I like the purple/pink way. You take an exit(sorry I don't remember which one, but its at the bottom of a hill). When you get off, you take a left at the light. You go maybe a mile till it comes to a "T" intersection and turn left. Just a bit down the road, and you are there....no toll booths at all.

the pink or purple route is Bonnet Creek Rd to Vista Blvd, then to Fort Wilderness
Way.

I have to agree with the lack of signs. When we went 2 weeks ago for the first time in our new TT I had lots of problems. When we went through the booth the guy told to me follow the green line on the so I did. Well to make a long story short I ended up in the service only area right behind Space Mountain before I could find a place big enough for me to turn around. They should tell you to take the first quick right right after you go through the booth. But make sure you watch for the Disney buses they get the use the far right lane and you have to merge with them.

Chris

Thanks for the great information....exactly what I was looking for!

BTW...I completely agree that the signing in Disney leaves much to be desired and I have previously contacted Disney with this construcive criticism.

DIS ROCKS!!! :thumbsup2

We always get off on Rt 535 and follow it until you get to Vista Blvd. Turning left on Vista brings you directly to Ft Wilderness which will be on your right. On your map, it joins up where your purple route makes that left turn at the top of the map. Doing the route in reverse is very handy for trying to get to outlet shopping on International Drive or if you want to go to that "other" park (Universal).

Thers an "other" park in Orlando ? :rotfl:

The only real problem with the alternate route is that it requires a hard right turn into FW, so be ready to swing wide if you have a bigger RV.

That's true, it would be a hard right that way since the entrance is straight on the other way. I wonder if you could enter on the far right of the resort and still get into the check in line that way. We've always gone to ft. wilderness this shortcut way. Head towards port orleans, pass it up and make a left at the next light. Since we usually stay at OKW, this is the way we go to MK.

No can do. The overflow lot is separated from the other lot and check in area now. In order to check in, you have to go in the main entrance and go through the guard shack.

ahhhh so that won't work. speaking of that lot. when i was at wdw earlier this month, i noticed alot of RVs parked in that lot. were they waiting for their site to be ready i wonder? i was just thinking what is to stop anyone from just parking there and dry camping for a night or so. i would hope they have security at the lot so that doesn't happen.

Last October I noticed a lot of RV's there for a couple days with generators running. One even put out his awnings. I reported it to the front desk. The next day, the lot was empty. I will do the same thing this year if I see any boondocking there. Security really doesn't seem to do much unless you complain.
