Leaving in two weeks. When we went in October, I put the address in my GPS and it took us in through a back way - very confusing. Can some of you frequent Fort campers give me directions? Will be coming in from the North on the Turnpike. Thanks in advance!

I-75 to the Turnpike to 429 South (Toll rd). Disney has their own exit (new) a little over a year or so right off of 429. Western Way Road..Real easy. Once you go through the Disney Welcome signs things are clearly marked as how to go the Magic Kingdom which is the way to the FORT..Think there are only two left turns.. Then a right after passing the parking Kiosks for the park.

Our gps took us the back way to the employee parking lot. BTW, you cant get in there. Took 30 mins. of driving around to get back on track. Gps got us lot three times in and around Lake Buenna Vista. At a light I put my window down and asked my wife for the gps. She statred to hand it to me then asked why I wanted it. She realized I was about to throw it out in the traffic. She still has it but Im still a map guy. Tried to teach her map reading but when someone says " were on the blue road and the road you need is red. Its coming up in aboud two knuckles" :confused3 the teaching is pretty much over. All Im saying is DONT US THE GPS. :)

429S, Take Exit 8 to Hartzog Rd which turns into Western Way, then left on Buena Vista Dr., then left onto World Drive, then go through the Toll Plaza as far right as guests are allowed, then take an IMMEDIATE right (Just make sure a bus is not coming on your right.), then go in the first Fort Wilderness entrance.

Our first (and only SO FAR) trip we took to the fort, we got lost. Not a little lost, not, we can see Disney world, its right there lost. More like I think we missed a turn somewhere near Georgia, and now we are lost. We had awoken the kids when we got off the tollway, they where excited. Well, 45 minutes later when we were back to the tollway and I asked the tollbooth worker for directions, she laughed and said "mapquest" errrrrrrr:mad:
She very politely gave us directions back to Disney World.
So, good job coming here to the experts, I think a LOT of these people could drive to the fort blind folded and backwards, at night. DON'T USE MAPQUEST!!!!

I heard the same thing about MapQuest, that if used you would fall of the edge of the planet before you got there!

If you are in an RV and want to avoid playing chicken with buses and toll plazas I recommend a slightly different route. It is a bit further, but it is much easier IMO:

I-75 S

Get off at exit 328 (approximately 140 miles from Georgia/Florida State Line, approximately 107 miles from I-10)

Travel on Florida Turnpike to Exit 267A (429S) (approximately 42 miles)

Travel on 429S to Exit 8 (Disney World/Hartzog Rd) (approximately 14 miles)

This road will take you to West Buena Vista Dr near Coronado Springs.

Turn left from West Buena Vista to World Drive, travel 2.6 mi. Ignore the signs!

Just past Downtown Disney you will cross over an overpass. Take the next left, Bonnet Creek Pkwy.

In 1.5 mi. Bonnet Creek will dead end into Vista Blvd. Take a left.

Fort Wilderness will be on the right in a 9/10 mile. Welcome to the Fort sans toll-plaza drama!

We just take Rt 4 from Daytona, get off at Magic Kingdom exit and follow those signs. Go in the far right lane of the MK parking lot, tell the parking lot attendant that you are staying at FW, the will tell you to go off to the right. Down the road a little ways and FW is on the left. It's the easiest way for us.

That works if you come down I-95 but if your doing I-75 your going out of your way.

+1 for the mnsprk and clkelley route. Only way to go! :thumbsup2 Bama ED

Thanks everyone....will definitely use your advice in order to avoid having my GPS thrown out the window of the motorhome (my husband has threatened a time or two) - it can come in handy on occasion - but I agree, not in the case of getting to Disney!!!!!

We are in official two week countdown mode!!!!! So excited!!!!
