Directionally Challenged... How do I get to...

We are new to Disney and we are going at the end of August. I realize they have bus stations at the outside of your resort (All Star Movies) that take you to the different parks. We have an early breakfast at the Polynesian Resort one day and I am not sure what bus to take to get there. Can someone help? Also we have dinner at the Whispering Canyon one evening and we will be at Magic Kingdom. What is the best transportation to get there? I really appreciate your help!!!

There are no resort to resort buses. That being said, you'll either have to take a bus to a park or DTD, then get a bus to Poly. If you ADR is too early, a taxi may be your best bet. They say to leave about an hour travel time by bus.

Going from MK to Wilderness Lodge, my fave way is the boat. Sometimes, if you time it right, you can see bits of Wishes from the boat on the way back. You can also take a bus if you prefer.

First, allow plenty of time to get to the Poly and WL for your meals from ASM. It is correct that there are no resort to resort buses to take. Depending on what time your ADR is you might want to take the bus to MK, and then the boat that goes to the GF and Poly. It's a nice ride that takes just a few minutes. Or take the resort monorail around to the Poly. For the Whispering Canyon ADR, since you'll already be at the MK, take the larger boat directly to the WL. Again allow plenty of time to do these.

You can take a taxi form ASM to either above resort, but it will cost you $$. The Disney transportation system isn't all that bad, just sometimes slow. You can meet some very interesting people using Disney transportation and have some wonderful conversations (this is where the sometimes slow part comes in).

We are renting a car and staying at All Star Movies for the first part of our trip and Downtown Disney for the second part of the trip. Is our rental car going to be the nest way for us to get around?
We are visiting all the parks and have additional ADRs at Contemporary and Poly.

Any advice about this would be appreciated!

If you are renting a car, then yes, the best way to get to ADR's is by your car... you can drive to the resort and park your car, then go to your ADR's. We found it was much easier this way, considering there are no resort to resort busses.
