Direct vs Resale add-on points

We already are DVC owners (direct through Disney). We'd like to purchase a smaller amount for an add-on, however we're torn between buying direct where we'd have to wait out a wait list for who knows how long (it has already been over a month) & where we'd only be able to buy fewer points, or buying resale where we could get more points for the money, but there are more restrictions on where you can use them (you can't use them in the properties or world collections). What do you recommend for buying when you are already a DVC owner?

In your situation (already owning) there are no restrictions of merit. For the same price and time, I'd buy retail but if it's not available and not more money, I'd go ahead and buy resale if you need the points coming up. If there's a significant price difference, I'd buy resale period.

I'd buy the resale if that's faster and you can get more points for the same price and can use them. I wouldn't worry for a second that they can't be used for the Disney collection nor the Concierge. Resale can still be used for the World collection though - RCI and BVT - contrary to what you mentioned.
