Seems like every time I turn my TV on an infomercial of some kind is on and the TV will not allow me to change channels when I want to so the only thing I could do is turn it off . This is new, I only noticed it the past week or two

It makes me think of using Pandora and how that service forces you doing door commercials except I'm paying for DirecTV and I'm not paying for Pandora .

wondering if anybody else is having this experience or if it's just my local provider

Never heard of such a thing. I've been a dtv customer for 18 years.

Try replacing the batteries in your remote.

Also try and reboot your Direct tv box. Little button near where the card slot is.

Check that your dvr for the sat isn't full, if so try deleting to get closer to at least 20%.

We have had Direct tv for many years and I have never heard of an issue with infomercials.

Only time I have ever had that issue is when I forgot to update my credit card on auto bill and my account was suspended. I was stuck watching DirecTV movie commercials for an hour until my payment was applied.

It just happened again if I'm on a channel and a commercial comes on and I want to change to watching something in my DVR it won't allow me to disengage from the commercial until it's over:/

My account is in good standing and my batteries are fine maybe they're just experimenting out here with how to drive up commercial viewing. It's already set that I cannot fast-forward through commercials on shows like Wahlburgers, there's another show I watch I can't fast-forward through but I can't remember what it is right now. I tell ya businesses in the Lehigh Valley are getting inventive. Around here we all get spurts of newspaper delivery we don't pay for and I think it's so that the newspapers can tell advertisers about their readership volume.

I know a vast majority of the on demand programs you can not fast forward through commercials. also if you use the feature that lets you start a live show from the beginning if you came in later also sometimes will not let you skip commercials. I have never seen it not let you bring up the guide or anything else while a commercial plays. I would call them because even if they are experimenting Id want nothing to do with that. Also when you say Lehigh Valley are you talking about in PA? If so Im near there and not experiencing any of this.
