I love Lia Sophia jewelry! I've been a Team Leader with Tastefully Simple for over 5 years, and there are some ways to make more money than parties. I actually don't do home parties any more, it just doesn't fit into my schedule. I'm still able to make money & meet my quotas by doing: online book shows (barely any work involved here - but not sure Lia Sophia offers that as an option); fundraisers & business accounts. Just by getting 1-2 business accounts you can earn a lot of money. Again, not sure Lia Sophia is the right product that businesses would buy in large quantities to reward employees or customers (or to give as gifts), but you won't know until you try. Type up a letter introducing yourself (or use one approved by LS) & offer to go to the company on lunch or breaks to show your product, and show how your items would make great rewards for employees or customers.
Another way to make money is to build your team. I don't know how that works with Lia Sophia but if it's something you want to do, look into it. You can get commission off of the sales of the consultants under you, which can turn out to be a lot.
In this economy you can't sit back & wait for people to call you to order. With TS, I sell a consumable food product, so people do routinely call for re-orders, but not as much as in the past. I make it my point to ask my best customers when I see them something like "oh hey do you need any more Garlic Garlic, do you need anything for summer grilling, etc."
Good luck - and I can't wait to hear other suggestions on this - so I can learn something too!
