direct flights - westjet from calgary

I just wanted to let people from Calgary know that Westjet is offering a direct flight on Wednesdays to and from Orlando.I am not sure exactly when it starts, but I booked it for the first week of March. I was very excited to see this !!! It is much quicker than stopping over in Toronto like most of the flight from out west and when travelling with kids the faster the better. The departure and arrival times are excellent too.
This may have been available for awhile but so far two travel agents I have talked to were not aware of it, so I thought I just add it here for anyone that might need it.
Now the hard part .... waiting until we leave!!!!!

Just wanted to let you know that they use to offer the non-stop on Tues & Thurs. Just within the last few weeks they changed it to Wed. I'm hoping they don't change it again as we have my mother booked to come home on a non-stop flight. She is older and traveling by herself on the way back to Calgary. We are flying on Sunday's as they are nonstop as well.

We took this flight last winter, and it is sooo nice to be able to go non-stop to Orlando. On the way back, they airplane had the satellite TV and it made the flight go fast (note that all the -700 aircraft have satellite TV now). They started these flights in about October 2004, two times per week. Air Canada will also be offering a non-stop flight from Calgary to Orlando this winter.

Why are they always changing their schedule GRRRR!!

We booked our direct flight out on Wed, many months ago...there were only Sun & Wed direct flights. Then our friends decided to join us and we looked at some flights and there were 4 direct flights, Tues & Thurs on top of Sun & Wed so they planned their vacation for a Tuesday flight. That was just weeks ago, now they only have Wed & Sun again!!!!!!!!!

We borrowed DVC points for them for arrival Tuesday night, now in order for them to make it there by Tues, they have to fly out of Calgary and spend the night in TO!! And they now will arrive in the middle of the day which totally screws up our schedule as we were supposed to be in AK that day and pick them up at the airport at 7:30pm, now we have to get them at 1pm!

Arrgghh

Oh and these flights started last October (2004) and they are VERY popular!

I plugged in our dates since we are leaving and returning on a Wed. We would have saved $600 and a direct flight with better times.

So much for early booking. But, I am still happy we are going

Have you thought about cancelling your exsisting reservation, paying the fee which I believe is $50-$60 per return ticket, and getting a credit for future travel. Rebook with better/cheaper flights and get around a $400 travel credit if you have 4 flights booked. It might be worth a try.

As far as I know. They have been available for quite some time. I just wished they offered it year round
