Hi Audrey

I am looking to book flights from scotland to orlando in dec also, but as far as I can tell at the moment the only direct flights will be with flyglobespan. On other threads on the site I have noticed some quite poor reviews of the service from flyglobespan so I think I will be looking at BA (via Gatwick) or Virgin (Heathrow/Gatwick/Manchester) with sperate connecting flights from EDI/GLA

Hope this helps

Thanx for that Merlin,
We flew globespan last sept and it was honestly the best flight we've ever taken, we flew PE over and Business home for the similar price of BA/Virgin economy and we had no probs at all, i do know others havn't liked them so much but this is just my opinion and experience with glodespan. We have flown with Virgin PE and economy, BA, Airtours, icelandair (don't even go there!:headache: ) and the aforementioned Globespan

Also as far as i'm aware globespan don't have much flights from GLA SFB in Dec. We got a good deal with Virgin for Dec coz they had a sale not long ago, booked PE return from LGW/MCO and BA from ABZ/LGW if you are going similar dates 5th-22nd Dec then you could maybe get the same deal if it's still on. Let me know how you got on please.:)

Regards, Audrey:)

I think Globespan are your only chance for December.

If you dont want to go via London you could opt for Continental via Newark - we're flying in December from Edinburgh via Newark.

Continental does have a flight that they call direct but it does touch down in Newark for a couple of hours before going on to Orlando - I'm not sure if you get off the plane.

We opted to have a slightly longer delay in Newark (4hrs) as it was a fair bit cheaper for some reason, so we'll go through customs in Newark, have some lunch and hopefully get through MCO quicker.

We've just booked with VA from LGW to MCO in December. We're intending on flying down from Edin/Glasg the day before. I don't think there are many, if any direct flights during the winter months. We'll just have to up the demand! Come on Scottish folks get demanding direct flights from Scotland in December :thumbsup2 :cheer2: :goodvibes

Not just December ~ we are having to fly from Glasgow to Gatwick then Gatwick to MCO in late October.

Hi,
Hope the OP doesn't mind me posting this on their thread but I think a lot of people do not understand the meaning of "direct flight". It is not the same as a "non-stop" flight. Believe me I know as I took a holiday company to court over this statement and ended up with an "out of court settlement" Here's a link to the definitions:

Re Continental.
You WILL have to get off the plane at Newark, as this is where you enter the USA by the fact of touching down and so will have to go through customs there.

the good news is that by doing this you will not have to go through customs at MCO

Virgin are doing a direct flight for a couple of weeks in JUN and OCT...hopefully if they get a good response this will encourage them to expand this route out of GLA.

As it stands currently there are no non-stop direct flights from Glasgow to Orlando. Globespan are the only operator likely to offer such a service and they have not yet committed to a winter 2007 schedule.

For the record we also had a superb experience flying with Globespan last year and would not hesitate to book with them again.
