These points look like preferred studio rooms.
I confess that my DH is interested in RIV, but he loves the Wilderness Lodge more which is why we bought CCV with the direct incentives. One thing that I realized recently is that only GFV and RIV have both studios AND 1BRs that sleep 5 (with the bedding included). I keep hoping that when BRV does its refurbishment, that it will add a pulldown to the 1 BRs, but if that third bedding matters, another benefit of Riv is that you'll have it in both Studio and 1 BRs. One of our challenges is that our teenage sons don't like to share a bed, so that third sleeping surface matters a lot.I wasn’t going to but ended up adding 175 there last fall. My adult kids..who I added to the deed...liked it for ease to DH and Epcot. I also own 500 SSR and now 100 BLT for stays elsewhere.
While I have benefited from the resale market with selling contracts..sold BwV to buy this..I did not consider the restrictions as part of my decision.
I am happy to have bought and can use the 11 month advantage to get SV studios through the year. And then at 7 months use my SSR points for any nights still available.
Consider it a win win for me!
This. We got a fixed week for one of two contracts for these reasons--no drawback, really, as you've pointed out before, given the time of year we wanted (week 48).People should just be getting a fixed week as a fallback as it protects some of the resale value as well likely.

Because DVC members have essentially been keeping the resort business going since the reopening and in order to kickstart direct sales again, I’m anticipating some pretty awesome perks and benefits in the near future. I admit this is nothing more than crystal ball gazing but the recent developments have underscored how important DVC is to the Disney company as a whole and I think a new approach to members is on the horizon.
What is a fixed week contract? Can you only go that time of year? Or can you go anytime but have best bet that week? This. We got a fixed week for one of two contracts for these reasons--no drawback, really, as you've pointed out before, given the time of year we wanted (week 48).

All good points! Though what I was trying to focus on is if that you wanted both options - studios and 1 BRs. 2 Poly Studios don't have a full kitchen, or the nice whirlpool tub, or the laundry in the room. The BLT and AKL 1 BRs sleep 5 and have the second bathroom, but they don't have studios that sleep 5, and I hear the BLT studios are tiny. Don't get me wrong -- I much prefer AKL and CCV/BRV personally, and our problem is "solved" in that BRV has studios that sleep 5 and AKL has 1 BRs that sleep 5. But if that mattered to you - being able to sleep 5 in BOTH Studios and 1 BRs, then GFV and Riv are the only resorts at present that do that.Good call out for people with 5 in the family.
I would say though POLY sort of fits the mold though and would have more room if you are trying to cram 5 people in to a 1BR as it in theory would fit 10 people then?
I would also say BLT with the capacity for 5 in a 1BR with 2 bathrooms is a major positive over the single bathroom (split shower/tub) that you get at RIV.

Your fixed week cost stays the same, FYI. So if you the point chart changes, you always get that fixed week, no matter the change.A fixed week is when you buy a Sunday to Sunday specific week for an extra 10% in points.
It gets booked for you prior to the 11 month window. If you decide you don’t want to travel then, you can call and cancel it.
Then the points, including the extra 10% will be available to use or bank foe that UY.
The following year, same process. One thing I did read is that you are not allowed to use banked points to secure your fixed week...those have to be used for other bookings.
Not all resorts sold them...I think they started with VGF.
