Direct DVC Purchase vs. Resale

We just returned from DW and will probably make an initial purchase of 200 points at SSR for $85 per point. However, my question is this; since we will probably be spending alot of time at the HHI resort in the future, mostly during the summer, should we continue with our direct purchase through DVC or acquire HHI points through a resale for less money? Your advice would be most appreciated. Thank you.

If you plan on staying mostly at HHI and can swing the financing without depending on Disney, I would buy HHI from a resale broker. That way you have the 11 month window for HHI, which is especially important for the summer months. You should be able to get reservations at SSR as well within the 7 month window. When it is built out, SSR will be the largest DVC resort and you shouldn't have too many issues with getting a reservation there even inside 7 months.

For you resale is the way too go. Just look at the resale prices for HHI. ROFR is tough but it's worth the savings.

I agree with the others

Rule of thumb around here is buy where you think you'll stay the most - and the 11month advantage is pretty important if you'll want to stay at HHI most of the time and in the summer.

If you can swing the financing, definetly go resale.

we have always purchased direct it was way more convenient. No closing costs no waiting for ROFR etc.
