Direct Buy

This is a membership club that you supposedly are able to get great buys for household stuff like cabients, furniture, decorating items. They advertise with an infomercial. Has anybody done the tour and know what the membership fee is?? And did it truely seem worth it.

We have an appointment on Thurs. but I'd love to not wait that long if it is going to turn out not to be worth the money. I'll order tomorrow from Lowe's.

Has anybody used them or done the intro tour where they tell you the membership fees???

My cousin's brother belongs to this. I almost passed out when she told me that the membership is around $4000.00.

Thanks Regina...I was thinking it had to be high...but if you are saving tons then it makes since. We are just redoing a bathroom so spending $2000.00 so to spend $4000.00 doesn't make sense.

I know some people as well who joined and they paid $$$$ to join. They say it's worth it, but they've never said what they've bought to prove it!

DH had set up an appointment for us to go to the presentation, but I searched for Direct Buy on the web and made him cancel it. I can't say that I found anything overtly negative about it, but I did find some comments from others who joined.

I think it was in excess of $3K to join. Sure if you plan to renovate you home you can probably recoup your investment, but we don't own a home and don't have that kind of money lying around.

I joined. Yep, it's expensive. We spent a couple of hours pouring over the books with our mental list of things we needed and found them to be worth it for us.

That being said, DH and I just bought a house. We have tons of decorating we will be doing, appliances to buy, etc. We attended the presentation along with about five other couples. One of the couples walked out with us, and they'd decided not to join. We kibbitzed-and all said the same thing. It's perfect if you're starting out or remodeling.

So far, they've supplied the over the stove microwave, dishwasher and bedroom furniture. We bought a much better Maytag dishwasher than we bought for our old house for the same price.

Once you go to the presentation, you're obligated to decide to join that day.

Its not for everyone, but if you make a mental tally of anything you'll need for your home for the next ten years and take a look through the books, it might be worth it for you.
