We purchased in January on the dream. We own at AKL. We are now thinking of adding on with resale points. They would be for the same use year and at AKL. Are there any issues with this?
The only issue would be that for purchases made after 3/20/2011, there are some restrictions on the use of the points. They can't be used for points stays at non-DVC Disney resorts, DCL cruises, Adventures by Disney and a few other things. They can still be used for RCI exchanges and a few other things.
Frankly, I don't think any non-DVC use of DVC points gives you good value, so the restrictions are a non-issue to me.
And there's a BIG difference in the direct price of AKL and resale.
If you buy resale, in addition to getting the same UY, be sure you title the contract exactly the same as your first contract. With exactly the same titling and UY, both contracts will be in the same account and can be used together without having to transfer points from one account to another.
