Hi there..
i am hosting a party this weekend ... and have been given the task of making homemade dip for chips/crackers/veggies...

(don't ask, i usually buy the store bought ones and am happy with it ...)
but this party will have everything made from home !!

Anyone out there that has recipes which are quick and using ingredients which are readily in the grocery stores ??

anyone has some amazing recipes to share ?
TIA !!

Our favorite is Russian Peasant Dip. It's very good and we serve it with fresh veggies. Definitely chill it the recommended amount of time, it really makes a difference. BTW, the recipe that I have doesn't use onion flakes, but chopped scallions.

RUSSIAN PEASANT DIP

1 1/3 c. mayonnaise
1 1/3 c. sour cream
2 tbsp. onion flakes
2 tbsp. parsley flakes
2 tsp. Beaumonde
2 tsp. dill weed
12 black olives, chopped very fine

Mix all the ingredients from above. Let chill for at least 3 hours; best overnight. Serve in hollowed out rye bread and fresh veggies.

Beaumonde can be found at grocery stores in the spice section.

Taco Dip! Everyone loves Taco Dip - the bowl is always scraped clean.

1 pkg Light Cream Cheese ( I do light, cuz it's easier to mix! :thumbsup2 )
1 small thingee of Sour Cream
1 packet (any) Taco Seasoning.

Whip it up with a blender until smooth - and then smoosh it into a bowl, topped with cheese, tomato, green onion - whatever you want, really. Its good even plain..... and I mean, with a spoon! :teeth:

My mouth waters just thinking about this dip. Best served with crackers.

Dried Beef Dip
  • 8 oz softened cream cheese
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • 1/2 bunch thinly sliced green onions
  • 1/2 tsp. Accent
  • 1 sm. jar Armour sliced dried beef

Mix the cream cheese and sour cream with electric mixer or blender until smooth. Add sliced green onions and Accent -- stir to mix well. Rinse the dried beef, because it's very salty. Then chop into small pieces and mix into sour cream/cream cheese mixture.

So good! Double the recipe for a larger party. I just make the smaller version for my family. You can also use light cream cheese & FF sour cream.

2 cans (not marinated) artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
1 c. mayonnaise
1 c. Parmesan cheese
8 oz. pkg. shredded Mozzarella cheese
Pinch of garlic salt, onion salt, salt and pepper

Mix all ingredients in a 1-quart casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour. Serve warm with crackers or mini breads.

Yum! I LOVE artichoke hearts, especially mixed with melted cheese!!

This is the best, and easiest for Vegetables.

One 16 oz. of Sour Cream
2 packets of "good seasons" Italian Salad dressing powders.

Mix well!

SO SO SO Good.

too funny! I was going to post this exact one - it's always a hit and the easiest thing in the world to make but doesn't taste like it. you can even use all fat free products and it doesn't taste like it.

Neiman Marcus Dip

12 oz. bacon, fried and crumbled
8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
6 green onions, sliced
3 oz slivered almonds, toasted
1 c mayo

Just mix and serve on crackers.

It's not difficult but takes a bit of time. Some short cuts: using pre-shredded cheese (although I prefer cracker barrel and shredding it myself) and the pre-cooked and crumbled bacon. This is awesome and is always gobbled up right away! Not good with chips or veggies though because it's more of a spread than a dip.

Yep!!! Taco Dip lovers UNITE! :thumbsup2

AND - ever happen to eyeball the price of this stuff pre-made at your local grocery store??? Gimme a break! ! ! !

if you want to cook a little (not much)

Carmalized onion dip

1 lb onions (red is better but not essential) sliced thin in half moons
2 tablespoons veg. oil
1 tablespoon sugar
salt and pepper to taste
1 2 cup container of sour cream
snipped chives or scallions to garnish

Saute onion in veg oil. After first 5 minutes (as onions begin to soften) sprinkle with salt, pepper and sugar.

Continue to saute until golden stirring only occasionally for at least 20-25 minutes.

Allow to cool slightly and mix with sour cream. Can be served right away or kept in the fridge for 24 hours. Can be served chilled or slightly warmed in microwave for 5 minutes

Also good is roasted red pepper dip

2-3 roasted red peppers (jarred is fine but not in vinegar)
1 8 oz package cream cheese (light or regular)
8 oz sour cream (or mayo in a pinch)
1 chipolte pepper in adobe sauce (or more if your braver)
Salt and pepper to taste

Put all ingredients in food processer whiz...for bonus style points place dip in a pepper (prepared as you would to stuff it but make sure to slice a little of the bottom off so it will "stand")
Store in fridge for up to 24 hours.

Enjoy.

We made a batch last weekend for our family reunion and everyone loved it. It's spicey though, you can add more ranch dressing if you'd like to tone it down:

(2) 8oz. cream cheeses
(1) 12oz. bottle Franks Hot Sauce
2 cans chicken breast drained (you can make your own chicken and shred it, but who wants to do that!?!?! we use Tyson canned chicken breast and it's good)
12 oz. Ranch salad dressing (you can use Blue Cheese dressing if you'd like)
Finely shredded colby/monterey jack cheese

Mix cream cheese, hot sauce, chicken in skillet over medium heat. Add ranch dressing--mix well. Pour into casserole dish, top with cheese. 350 for about 20 minutes.

We serve with those big Fritos Scoops and also celery. YUM!!!

Im definetly trying this one! Thank you!!! :thumbsup2

Pizza Dip- Mix 2 tsp. italian seasoning with 1 (8oz) pkg softened cream cheese. Spread into the bottom of a baking dish (I also add minced garlic to the mixture, but it's not required).

Spread 1/2 C. shredded mozzarella and 1/2 C. parmesan cheese over that. Then spread 1 C. pizza sauce over the cheese. Top with an additional 1/2C. mozzarella and 1/2 C. parmesan, and your favorite pizza toppings: diced green peppers, onions, pepperoni, etc. Cover and microwave 5 minutes OR (my preferred method) bake at 375 until bubbly.

ETA- this is really good served with melba toast, or I like to buy a long baquette, and slice it into thin slices, then toast the slices in the oven. SO good!

Also ETA- I have made the buffalo dip, and that's good too- fattening, but good!

BLT Dip

1C Mayo
1C Sour Cream
1lb Bacon
2 Tomatoes

Crisp the bacon and crumble it (you could buy the pre-cooked bacon to save time). Dice the tomatoes and combine all ingredients. I usually salt and pepper to taste as well. It is AWESOME with King's Hawaiian bread.

Can I just whip it by hand ... without using a blender ??

Probably be kinda hard - but I imagine you could.

:stir: <--Dont have the energy for that! ;)

It's kinda lowbrow chow, but IMO, this is the all time Dip Master:

Cream Cheese Rotel Sausage Dip

1 lb. Jimmy Dean mild sausage
2 sticks of Philly cream cheese
1 can Rotel

Brown sausage and drain. Add cream cheese and Rotel dip. Stir until well-mixed (will actually look a little pink...don't be scared but go with it, it's awesome!). Serve with tortilla chips.

I've got a dip to use with crackers:

Bacon Cheddar Dip

1 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Dry Seasoning Mix
16 oz. of sour cream
1/3 -1/2 cup of Hormel Real Bacon Bits
2 cups Cheddar Cheese (finely shredded)

I make it the day before-it tastes better to me if it sits in the fridge overnight. You can add more bacon bits if you like.
