Dinosaur ride- is it scary for grown ups?

I would say YES, this ride can be scary for adults. I finally decided to try this ride several years ago and now it's one of my favorites. I'm 57. I take an Advil about an hour before I go on this (to help prevent an achy back) AND I always carry ear plugs for this ride and put them on just as I get down the stairs before boarding. I hate drops and this has one or two that make me scream, but they don't last long at all. I hold on tight with both hands. I don't care how I look ;).

Btw, no matter how many times I go on this, the prep and reaction are still the same!

I have rode it about 4 or 5 times. The first time I had no idea what to expect. Haven't had my eyes open on the ride since. Most people in my group like it, so I go. The movement doesn't bother me at all but the ride is very intense. Plus I am a bit of a scaredy cat, I can admit it.

I rode it once, and had my face and ears covered the entire time, crying the whole time. I was expecting something different, and actually was sobbing it scared me so much, so I am sure the ride photo would have been classic. I was "that" adult crying getting off the ride while 7 year olds were high fiving...On our upcoming trip, my boyfriend wants to check it out. I might agree, since I know what to expect now, however I am expecting covered eyes and ears again!

How specifically does Dino compare to Space Mountain just in terms of jerkiness and back pain?

I rode SM once and it's the only ride on which I've actually prayed (for my back) to survive. Haven't ridden SM since and won't. Sounding like Dino's a no go?

Neither my sister or brother-in-law will ride this and they will do major roller coasters at other theme parks. I have no problem with it (and I don't do bit roller coasters).

Yes it is jerky. I would say if you have issues to try and get in one of the middle 2 seats. I have heard that you are not jerked around as much.

It's my 6 year olds favorite ride...to the point that we rode 4 straight times in December 2016. He wanted a fifth ride but he lost that vote. It is loud and bumpy and jerky but we all love it.

We go on this every time we are at AK and never really found it scary. It does bump around some and the youngest girl was a little scared at one point but it was kind of mellow I thought

It is pretty terrifying for me (an adult). A dinosaur is chasing and trying to eat you! That's pretty scary.

We were waiting in line behind a family, and they had asked a CM if it was scary, and the CM said it wasnt! Im guessing thats part of the reason it was such a shock and I found it terrifying! I think if I would have known it had the potential to be scary it would have been easier.

I love Dinosaur! But I hate jump scares, so the big dino at the end used to seriously startle me until I got used to it.

It scares me! I have like three pictures of the ride picture (I always say I'm not going on it, but I always do) and I look like I'm about 5 and terrified in every single one of them.

Post it or it didn't happen. ;-)

I think this thread is so funny cuz I have always told people that I find Dinosaur terrifying!!:rotfl:You would think that after 30+ rides I would get used to large scary creatures lunging out of the dark at me, but no :sad2: I could ride ToT 20 times and not be satisfied but Dinosaur I STILL am like..."ehhhhh, its gonna be scary, hold my hand!" I'm just not a fan of "BOO!" scares and that's the same reason that I still scream in the graveyard scene in HM, by those horribly simple head-on-a-stick skulls that pop up from behind the headstones.

I just went on it Saturday and found it to be lame. It is bumpy. That is all.

Ditto. I used to ride it mostly with my eyes closed!! Last time I went though I finally dared to open my eyes and it wasn't so bad once I knew when to expect the jump scares ;)

I get scared on a lot of the faster rides, but I didn't find this scary at all. But I'm used to Indiana Jones in Disneyland and it's the same, just different theming. I find it a little cheesy, I loved it because of that, especially when the narrator says "They're not gonna make it! They're not gonna make it!" Just made me grin. However, it seems that many adults do find it genuinely scary, so I guess you'd have to try it once to find out. Have fun!
