DINOSAUR Ride - DS5

It's funny, in all the times we went to Disney, I didn't ride this one until 2015. My daughter was too small for it for a long time and my son didn't care for it when he was younger, so we avoided it. On our last trip, it poured while we were at AK. The park cleared out so we went over to Dinosaur. We all enjoyed it but my kids were 9 and 12. It would definitely depend on the child. I have a niece who was petrified of Ellen's Energy Adventure so I know she would hate Dinosaur. :)

I'll add my opinion, for my own kids, that it's too scary and intense for 5. And I'm not sure the ride videos can capture that intensity. But as many have said, depends on the kid.

I'm that horrible person that makes them ride everything once (before anyone has anything to say about this. I know my kids and knew they would be fine. They aren't afraid to ride things so when they see a "new" ride and say they don't want to I say you have too!). If my kid can ride Everest, Space Mountain and Stat Tours then they can ride this. Yes its dark, yes it has scary dinosaurs but it's also a lot of fun.

Mine was scared and said she hated. She said she wouldn't ride it again and it was her "worst ride ever" yet we went back to AK a few days later and everyone else was riding so she did too. This time she new what to expect and said it was a little more fun. lol

So only you know your kids. If one ride might freak them out and prevent them from riding anything else I wouldn't have them ride it but if you kids are like mine... they should be fine.

Would the Dinosaur ride at AK be to scary for my DS5?
It's really going to depend on your tolerance for this kind of ride, it's pretty intense.
It made me jump a couple of times and my DW won't ride it anymore.
When we took the kids a couple of years ago, my DD18 loved it, scared the cr@p out on my DS21 and my DS23 had nightmares afterwards.
*Note: this was a few years ago so it could have been the older version of the ride. DW and I are going back in a couple of weeks, I'm going to ride again but not sure if I'll be able to talk the DW into it

My 10 yr old DD was excited to ride it, but then hated every minute of it and hid her face the whole time (see pic..haha). Too bumpy, dark and loud for her. I was ok with the dark and noise, but I wasn't a fan of the rough ride. Probably a 'one and done' for us.
