Did it scare the $*&# out of anyone else?

DH and I went on it in 2002 before we had kids, and I will never go on it again! I LOVE thrill rides, but this one was so intense, it really made me afraid!

It has a pretty low height limit, and it makes me nervous to think of the kids going on it. I suppose there are some braver than me, and maybe they've toned it down a little. It was rough, loud, intense, and frighteningly real when I went on it!

I thought I was the only one. I kept telling myself "these aren't real"!
I didn't get to go on it last trip, but can't wait to do it again!:scared1:

DH and DS have gone on this the last several trips. DS was only 5 (I think) when he first went on it. They LOVE it...me, I'm a chicken and won't go near it

I've seen young children come off this ride screaming bloody murder. I guess it take the right kind of kid to go on this and deal with it and my hat is off to that special kid! LOL. I've been on it a number of times, really like it, but I will admit...it is pretty scary. Fun though.

My five year old son loves it and rides it multiple times each trip. My five year old nephew didn't enjoy it. (He didn't cry or anything....just said he didn't want to ride it again.) Just depends on the kid...

We talked to our kids (ages 5 and 8) about it before we went on and left it up to them. They both said they would give it a try.

When we get done with the ride, we go to view our picture and the 5 year old has a huge grin his face and is reaching out to try & touch the T-Rex. Looking to the right you see the 8 year old, bent over in his seat with his jacket over his head...hiding.

Now you look at the picture of my sister (who is 35, BTW) and she is shrinking back, gripping her husband's arm, with a look of absolute terror on her face. Priceless.

:rotfl2: I have not laughed that hard in a long, long time.

As we exited the ride DS8 turns to me and says, "That was horrific. I can't believe you put me on that ride." DS5 chimes in with, "Oh stop it Aidan, that was cool. Mom, can we do it again?" -- exact words here.

I guess it depends on your kids. I wouldn't put my kids on and not brief them on what was about to happen. We gave them a heads up and let them decide.

I took my older DD6 on right after she turned 3. She loved it! She's since ridden it dozens of times and reports that it is her favorite ride most of the time.

However, my DD3 (who will turn 4 this month) is not yet tall enough. She's such a different kid, that I don't think I will take her on it for several years.

Not only was it not scary, it insulted me. I hated this ride.

I don't know what specifically about it turned me off. I just didn't like it. I thought the premise was dumb, and there was a plot hole in the concept (but I can't remember what it was). I was unimpressed.

Oh, we absolutely LOVED it!!! It was my favorite thing at AK and in my top 5 favorite rides. I think that ride really depends on what you like and what kinds of things scare you. My youngest was 8 and she loved it. My 5 yr old didn't meet the height limit but she's ready to go this year and she can't wait to ride the "scary dinosaur ride"

This was my favorite ride at WDW. I loved how it was thrilling and exciting, without having any big drops and no spinning.
My DS10 (at the time), who is a big fan of dinosaurs, and absolutely loved expediton everest, did not like it at all. His eyes were as big as saucers when we were done, and he simply said that was really scary. Luckily, I had read the tip to have the child sit in the middle. If we go back, he does not want to ride it again.
Every kid (and adult) is different.

:lmao: it "INSULTED YOU" :lmao: what the crap,,people throw that word around to much ,people also throw around and call people a racist to much,,those two words strike a nerve with me.. please do tell,,how did it do that.

Now on topic,,we all love the ride. One of my kids fav, rides in animal kingdom.

:lmao: INSULTED ME. :rotfl:

I suppose it scared me a lot because the concept of a meteor hitting the planet and killing everything is real - it has happened - and it will probably happen again. Humans aren't going to be here forever; heck, the Earth isn't going to be here forever (you know what happens when stars die out, right?) That's scary I guess. :confused3 And that's what the ride was about, and it was so real. The dinosaurs weren't what scared me; it was the premise of the ride.

Yes! I messed up HUGE with this ride on our last trip. I convinced DS 3 & 5 to ride - they were terrified. I rode it ages ago, and I honestly did NOT remember it as being so scary. Bad mother of the year award.

I'm glad I'm not the only one too! 2006 my DH and DD6 went on it. At the end when they take your picture only my DH was in the photo since my DD6 and myself had our head between our legs :rotfl2:

The Dinosaur ride scares me every time I ride it, but I love it. Each time I get on it, I tell my family that I am going to try to keep my eyes open...but it never happens. I always get seated on the outside for some reason, and in every picture, I am covering my ears and closing my eyes. My 3 children have been able to ride it for years now. My younger two ( now 8 and 10yrs) will close their eyes on certain parts, but my oldest has been able to sit through the whole ride with his eyes wide open since he was 9yrs old(our first trip). His comments to me are always, "Mom, they are not real so keep your eyes open." No such luck!!

I love this thread...the first time we rode, my husband was at a conference, so I took my three girls on it, they were probably 12, 10 and 8, we didn't know what the ride was at all! It was something I had never researched or heard about. So, we hop on! We were all screaming and climbing on each other. When we came back to the area to depart, we were all in one seat, all on top of each other huddled together. We still have that picture hanging in my daughters room, funniest picture EVER! So, then we decide to go back and take my husband after the conference, we can't wait to take him....it was NOTHING like the first time, we enjoyed it the second time. But there's just nothing like having NO idea what to expect and riding for the first time...great memories!

We rode it and liked it. It did make us jump a bit and was kind of startling, but you know, we knew going into it that it is the Dinosaur ride, not the fuzzy bunny ride. ;)

I also win Bad Mother of the Year Award. I convinced DS (5 at the time) to ride it with me in August. He's a pretty daring dude, loves dinos and knows they are pretend. He shook like a leaf and basically crawled into my armpit for the entire ride. The dinos didn't scare him, it was the violent shaking and not being able to see what comes next.

I bought him a MM ice cream after that and cuddled him until he stopped shaking.

My 4 yr old daughter loves dinosaurs, so of course she said she wants to go on this ride, but after reading the reviews of it, i said NO WAY!! She was very disappointed, and I pulled up a video on Youtube to show her how scary it was, but even after the video she STILL wants to go on  My 6 yrs old thought it looked way too scary though, so I told them we would go on in a few years when everybody is older!

It was the only ride in all of WDW that totally terrified me. It's not roller coaster "thrill ride" scary, it is just loud and jolting and big and scary. The PhotoPass picture has my DD13 folded over in my lap and me with my eyes tightly shut. Though I have to say that the other 4 members of our family were laughing -- guess it's all a matter of personality:rolleyes: Know yourself, know your kids. Personally, I won't do it again.
