Dinosaur at AK

It's the roughest ride in WDW. And it's very loud. But we never miss riding it at least once...usually twice a trip.

It's pretty rough, and bumpy, but man, it's fun! I was clinging to my husband by the end. Our picture was so funny.

Agreed - roughest and loudest ride I have ever been on. Not a fan at all. Tried it multiple times - never again!

I don't usually ride coaster type rides, but I don't mind this one (because there are no real drops. It is super jerky so if I am not feeling strong enough to "hang on", I skip it. It is fun but really bouncy.

How rough or bouncy is the Dinosaur ride at AK? I've watched YouTube videos, but it's so dark that I can't tell.

I agree it's pretty rough. I only do it once per trip because I usually feel a bit of neck/head pain afterwards (I'm mid-40s). I know you said you watched videos but here's ours if you want to try another one.

  • On April 30, 2005, a 30-year-old man from Mooresville, Indiana lost consciousness shortly after exiting the ride and died from a heart attack moments later. An investigation showed the ride was operating correctly and was not the cause of his death; he had an artificial pacemaker.[27]
You have the reputation as a "so call Disney an expert" but you need a reality check at times. I have a heart condition and have done extensive research on them and DW works in a heart cath facility where I talked to a about this incident. If this 30 year old had a heart attack after the ride he was in very bad shape and per several cardiologists almost anything would have triggered it. Not just a ride like Dinosour. I stand by my statement

It's bouncy and very jerky, but IMO there is a smoothness to the bumps and jerks because it is a polished, modern ride. It doesn't feel painful to me like some wooden roller coasters (the teeth chattering kind). Every jerk and bump is intentional, and in a way to me they feel smooth.

Ever since I was in middle school, I had recurring muscle spasms in my neck that have NEVER been triggered by a ride on Dinosaur (I've probably ridden 20-30 times). My father also has neck issues and has been completely fine on it.

I could see how someone with neck or back issues could have a problem on it, but that hasn't been the case for us. Everyone's body and tolerance level for this kind of thing is different.

I'll try to do better next time.

I forced my father in law on this last trip and I regretted it the entire trip. It bounced him all over the place. He was ready to feed me to the carnotaurus.

It took a trip to LaCava to soothe the pain and heal our relationship. :duck:
