Dino-rama

I feel compelled to post here, because I too wondered about this section of the park, until I found out that it was planned to be that way. The whole dinosaur section of the park is supposed to be this war between the sophisticated, money-laden people in the Dinosaur! ride and museum, led by the Phylicia Rashad character, versus the cheap carnival atmosphere of the businesses run by the characters Chester and Hester. They are both supposed to be competing in the archaeology and dinosaur discovery business, but in their own different ways. Disney expects people to ride the Dinosaur! ride and then walk down that little pathway exiting into the Chester and Hester gift shop and out into the carnival area. There's even little signs along the way that say "You are now leaving the grounds of the Dino Institute" and then "Now visit Chester and Hester's Dinorama! Dinosaurs the way they are supposed to be!" This was all planned this way, and the carnival area was not just added on as a cheap expansion. If Disney wanted to be cheap, they would not have spent the kind of money they obviously did on the Dinosaur ride.

Anyway, also on the subject of Primeval Whirl, I think the reason for the height requirement is not that the ride goes really fast or is real thrilling, but that it's very jerky. The only restraint is a bar, and I know I am jerked around pretty violently during some of the turns, and I'm 6'2" 185 pounds. I can see how a small 3 foot child or something could be jerked enough to be thrown from the vehicle or at least partially come out from underneath the bar during those jerks. Just my opinion.

It's horrible. What were they thinking. I feel bad for the CM that work in the store or any where around there. PW is sooooo loud.

i stand be my original statement that PW, as the teens would say, sucks... use your pixie dust to ensure you have a fastpass or a short line... or i would bet, that most riders will come off wanting draw and quarter the imagineers who came up with it... it simply is a lame experience

Well, that's just the thing- Imagineers DIDN'T come up with it. It's an off-the-shelf ride that Disney just bought from another company. Cheaper than actually putting some thought into it.

I don't see that it makes things any better that Disney MEANT for it to seem cheap and cheesy. They succeeded all too well. As a design choice, it was a poor one.
