Dinning option ? Help!

I was really hoping this would work for us. Mostly to have it prepaid and not feel bad about eating at the great sit down restaurants at the park. I am just taking my 2 youngest boys they are 13 and 11. My husband and 16 ds have asked not to go. I already paid for our room, $55 per night expedia. I was going to get military tickets from SOG, length of stay $250 each for 5 days. I am unsure if there will be miliatary tickets now. So I wanted the Dinning option. But when I priced it this morning, I had to pay full room rates. So the additional cost of the room plus the dinning make it more like $140 per day for the dinning plan. I think I can do better than this by just paying cash restaurants. What do you all think? Also does anyone know how picky WDW is about eating off the kids menu? Can both of my boys eat off the kids menu at CRT for lunch?

I know what you mean. We were very interested in the dining option, until we found out we have to pay rack rate for our room. We have a good rate for our room using a code and I'm not willing to pay rack rate for our room.
In theory the dining option was great, but there always has to be a catch.

I agree. The MYW is just another price hike.

My adult daughter has ordered from the childs menu several times and we have never had a problem. I believe it may depend on the server. Usually, the childs menu is quite limited. However, I see at CRT childs lunch menu they have steak as well, so that may be nice. By all means ask. Very likely you will be able to order from the childs menu.
