Dinning Advice Needed

My dearest Disers, Hello!!

So, as many of you know - I am back to the magic in March with my friend who is flying all the way over from Canada to join me on a magical trip from Sunday 2nd March to Thursday 6th March. Tres excited!!!!

The time has come to sort out the meals. I love this part, but I want to make sure it is all done right so my friend can experience everything and not miss out with regards to the park or Disney Dreams in the evenings.

The park is open until 8pm each night except Sunday when it's open till 10pm. At park closure though we will have Dreams which will be 30mins added onto the end of the day (important for when planning dinners).



When we arrive on Sunday, we have a reservation for the Sunday Brunch. My friend suggested Café Mickey for the evening... what times are the characters about until?

Also, does anybody know how long the characters are out in Inventions? Usually I go for a 6pm sitting, so I don't know the last time the characters will be appearing. If we are watching Dreams, then realistically we won't make it to Inventions until 9pm in which case we will only have an hour till it closes. Or are we best to go at 6pm and miss out on 2hours of park-time and eat then? Soooo many options! Aaaargh!


So basically, we have Sunday to Thursday and need to squeeze the following in:-
Inventions dinner, Auberge de Cendrillion lunch, Café Mickey dinner (could change to a lunch but not sure what it's like at lunchtimes?), Blue Lagoon lunch, BBWWS dinner, Walt's lunch and Inventions dinner again on our last night when DBF is travelling to come and join us.

Any ideas how to work it? We also will be spending half a day in Paris so my friend can see all the sights.

If you do Sunday brunch, then form my experience characters show up 13.05 ans stay untill 15.00, constantly some characters are out. Have no idea about the dinner though. But I'd rather give 2 hours of park time and have a nice dinner at Inventions and no rush.

Do you mean Sunday Brunch at Inventions or at the Steakhouse in the Village?

As for Cafe Mickey - we've been at lunchtime and enjoyed it even though it's a very different atmosphere to at night but this was quite a few years ago and the reviews haven't been so good lately so maybe view it as a place to go for a pizza with a glass of something rather than a three course meal? I think the characters are out until 10pm.

Inventions dinner - we've always gone at 6pm and think you get much better character interaction then because it's quieter. I'd personally stick to 6pm - I never mind sacrificing park time for a nice sit-down meal as to me that's part of the holiday and I hate feeling rushed.

Walt's tends to be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays apart from high summer so bear that in mind (although don't take it as gospel until you've checked with Dining Reservations!).

Have fun planning! I don't have any Disney trips this year and I feel like my right arm's been cut off!

Hi Elaine yes the brunch I meant was the one in Inventions. Sorry, I totally forgot there were two of them - I best make sure I booked the right one, I'm pretty sure I did

I'm with both of you on this - I don't mind sacraficing some park time for a nice dinner, especially when it's a character meal because it's all part of the Disney magic still in my eyes. I just want to maximise our time for my friend as it's a long way for her to come and visit not to see it all

Thanks for reminding about Walt's too - I think we will do this on the Thursday as DBF will arrive Wednesday night so it will be nice for him to have lunch in his favourite restaurant

Sounds like a great meal plan Adam. Did you check BBWWS opening nights? I can never remember which night they close. What a lovely time you have planned. Whats on your Paris itinery?

I did indeed and according to the website it's running daily?! I always thought it had two days off I will have to check tomorrow when I call reservations.

I don't know re Paris yet. I am thinking something along the lines of getting the train to L'arc de Triomphe and getting off there so my friend can take photos. Then from there take a stroll down the street to the Eiffel Tower. We will go up the Eiffel Tower. I'd like to show my friend The Statue of Liberty along the Seine. Then finally go and see Notre-Dame (I don't think this is walking distance? Perhaps we'll get the metro there?) before returning back to the park. We're not making any lunch reservations for that day just incase we find somewhere nice in Paris to eat and then we don't have to rush back neither.

Heads up that via the french dlp site, there are bbwws selected tickets available for 35 euro (9.30pm showing) or for 40 euro for 6.30pm. It does say limited tickets available so I would be quick

Sounds great! Yep i think that would be a fair walk m'dear but have a look at the rapt website. Its got a cool, interactive map of the metro so you can plan all your to-ing and fro-ing and print a handy pocket sized map. Have you been to Pere Lachaise? Its on my to do list! Sounds great, in a morbid kinda way.

I'd also thought BBWWS closed two midweek nights.

I have an airport magazine (in an overflowing drawer) with some amazing sounding lunch recommendations. I shall have a look and pass on what I find

I know it's not much later, but I've changed the Café Mickey time to 19:30 with the plan to go in there and sit down with a bottle of wine or something whilst we eat and drink leisurely. Even if we only order something small...

You'll have to get the metro to Notre Dame. Its about a 15 minute walk from the l'arc de Triomphe to the Eiffel Tower, but you'll need an RER or metro to Notre Dame as its easily a good 30 minutes walk.

If you want to climb the Eiffel Tower, book online. Otherwise you'll be queing just to buy a ticket (HUGE queues) and you'll run the risk of not being able you use the lift as the time slots will be booked out.....and you'll have to use the stairs, meaning you can't climb to the top....and you'll be shattered!
