Dinner with teens... not in park... where?

I would suggest House of Blues or Rainforest Cafe at DTD. We love them both!! I carry DS17, DD16 and DD's BFF. They are both very fun places and with them being in DTD, there are a lot of activities and things to see.

I would suggest the Golden Corral steak buffet off Vineland near the Premium Outlets...in Lake Buena Vista. Food was good and lots of choices for your teens. Its across the street from Landry's and Bahama Breeze.

Another vote for HoB. Music is cool, theme is cool, lots of food to choose from even for the pickiest of eaters. My teens loved it...plus DTD is a cool place to hang after...lots of shopping that caters to teens.

I'd like some suggestions on where to take several teenagers to eat dinner, on a day off from the parks. Of course, I rather it not be hugely expensive.

I *think* Kona Cafe is going to be more expensive than HOB. Don't quote me on that but since you mentioned you'd rather it not be a huge expense you may want to do a google search for their dinner menus with prices.

Kona Cafe is very good. I personally love House of Blues (I'm 23). Boma definitely wouldn't be my pick if you have a picky eater. I'm not picky at all, but Boma's dinner buffet isn't my favorite. There's a lot of strangely spiced things. Things that you wouldn't think should be sweet are, etc. Their breakfast buffet is my absolute favorite though.

Kona is one of our favorite restaurants! We've been there three times (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and it was consistantly great.

Rainforest Cafe might be fun, but don't expect high-quality food.

I've also heard a lot of good things about Raglan Road.

Here are the menus:
Kona -- http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?Restaurant.ID=188
Rainforest Cafe (DTD) -- http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?Restaurant.ID=182
Raglan Road -- http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?Restaurant.ID=379

Enjoy! :)

DGD13 chose these for next trip: Sci-Fi, 50s PT, WCC, Ohana, Boma, 1900 PF (for the stepsisters), Coral Reef, Raglan Road, Dine with Shamu at Sea World and POP pizza delivery. I'm okay with all of them except the last :sick:

Thanks to everyone for their input! I thought I'd fill you in... on the rest of the story. We did go to the Kona Cafe. Boat wasn't running because of high wind... so we did have to drive... oh, well. The food was good. One teen did order a hamburger... and they said they had adult hamburgers not on the menu. It came on a plate like all the adult meals instead of the mickey plate. We loved the wings!!! The bread was good... but cold... it would have been so much better warm. We had the teriyaki steak and filet... both very good. Mashed potatoes were awesome. Noodle dish got mixed reviews... one said too sweet... another said was good. Crab cakes were good... but next time would stick with the wings!!! Couldn't resist dessert! Great choices!

I think Disney is missing an opportunity here... with decor. They've got the right name... it was reallly Cafe feel... but for prices... they should jazz it up some. They are the master at that! I think they should screen the lobby a little more. As a people watcher, it was interesting to see the dragging faces as they exited the monorail and entered the resort. But dragging faces can put a downer on a nice dinner.

For restaurant atmosphere... I'm sure HOB, Planet Hollywood, Rainforrest win big time... and Disney shouldn't allow that to happen. It wouldn't take much to give Kona a magical feel too.

So overall, IMHO...
food= +
being onsite= +
decor= BIG -

I still think I accomplished a special meal that they will fondly remember... especially in their future visits to the parks.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your thoughts!:grouphug:
