I have a quick quesstion. I have Ressies for Chef Mickeys @ the Contemporary for 7:10 pm on July 9. I know that you can drive to the Contemporary and park. My question is how long can I stay there? I ask b/c my plan was to drive to the Contemporary, eat at Chef Mickeys, go over to MK by Monorail, then wait and watch Wishes (which probably will be at 10 pm over the summer), then walk back to the Contemporary and drive back to Saratoga Springs (our home resort). Will we be allowed to park at Contemporary until 10:45 or so? And do they really even check?

THanks in advance, Scott

When we ate at Chef Mickey's we were given a 3-hour temporary parking pass. I believe that is normal. You might call the resort and ask if they give special passes ever. Perhaps they would extend it, but from what I've heard 3 hour parking passes are normal.

Please don't flame me, because if what I did was wrong it was done entirely out of naivety and ignorance, so . . .
When we had breakfast at Chef Mickey's on our last trip (I think our ps was at 8:00 or so), we parked at the Contemporary and left the car until two in the afternoon while we went to MK. I guess you would have to verify whether this is really "OK," though.

In theory, it's not OK to "park and walk" as we call it, and, as a frequent paying guest at Contemporary, we'd prefer it if non-guests wouldn't remain parked in the lot all day. However, with a three-hour parking pass, you could probably do a 7pm meal, go to MK and return at 10:45 without causing any problems for yourself. I don't think they're absolutely hardline on the "exactly 3 hours and no more" rule. What they don't want is a lot of people "parking and walking" all day or for most of a day. That really would be unfair to paying Contemp. guests.

You could park at the MK (TTC really, I guess) and take the monorail to Chef Mickey's, then either walk or take the monorail back to the MK for Wishes and leave from there.

The official rule is a three hour temporary pass for restaurant and visitors not staying at the resort. It is fairly rigidly enforced, because there is often a shortage of parking for resort guests at the monorail resorts.

I would park at TTC and monorail to the Contemporary rather than have to be concerned about it.

Interesting.....I drove in from off-site on Monday March 28th to eat at California Grill. I didn't even have PS for it. I drove up to the guard shack, told him that I wanted to eat at CG and he said fine and waved me in. No pass no nothing. I then used Valet Parking to park, still no questions.

I watched cars being towed from the CR lot the day of the Marathon this year--and it wasn't even near full.

No WAY I'd overstay my welcome in one of those lots!

I guess my info earlier was wrong. I didn't realize they enforced the 3 hour limit quite so stringently. I confess, as a frequent paying guest at CR, I am glad the hotel is looking after my interests, though I wish there was a good way for everyone to walk to MK (it's so darned convenient).

It looks like parking at the TTC, taking the monorail to CR, walking to MK and taking the boat or monorail back to the TTC may be your best bet, ScottnBecky.
