Dinner then Campfire program

Went to the campfire last summer but a thunderstorm prevented us watching the movie. Want to do again this year - hopefully we'll have better luck in October.

Thnking of early dinner at Whispering Canyon and then walking (is this possible?) to the campfire at FW. Will we have enough time to do this? Another alternative would be dinner at Trails End. What do you think?

It could be done - but it's quite a walk. After dinner at WC, I don't think I could walk that far! LOL!

I would do dinner at Trail's End.

Or if you really want dinner at WC, you could take the boat over to FW from there too!

Also, in October it may be dark when you are wanting to walk over. I thought someone said there were no lights on the trail (but I could be wrong---we are going in July, so I will know then).

We are also planning to go over to the campfire program, and hoping to walk over, but in July it stays light longer. We will see if it is possible.

The trail from WL to FW is dimly lit, but goes through the woods and may freak some people out, unless you are used to that sort of thing. At any rate, it is probably a half mile long. I would probably opt for the launch to FW, or eating at Trail's End.

My sister tried this...it was a very dark trip. Also not being that familiar with the campground(they were staying at the Lodge)...they were lost...not to mention the kids got tired...they were 4and 5 at the time. They wound up having to carry them since they hadn't throught to bring a stroller as they kids didn't use them any longer..they sure wish they had it then!

If you want to eat at WL, take the launch to Ft Wilderness. From the marina, it is a 1/2 mile walk, or you could walk past Pioneer Hall and take one of the internal busses to the campfire (Meadows Recreation Area).
