I've seen several posts on this board regarding the maximum table dinner table size for large parties that are traveling together, so I thought I'd let you know about my recent experience...

I cruised on the 1/26 Magic cruise with my immediate family, various friends, and a few relatives, for a total of 11 people in our party. We requested that our dinner reservation be linked, in the hopes that we would all be able to sit together for dinner.

Much to our surprise, when we arrived on the ship, we found that we were indeed all sitting together (table 23--front and center in all of the restaurants), but there were also three ADDITIONAL guests at our table with us!

Our table was almost TOO big, and we found ourselves sitting in different seats every night just so that we could talk to someone different in our group. The three additional people at our table didn't really fit-in with our close-knit group. It was an odd choice to combine the two groups together.

But--on a positive note--for those of you who are traveling with large groups (of 14 people max.) you CAN sit together!

Thank You!!!! We are traveling with a total of 14 and are linked together for dinner.
Do you know if it was a full ship or not. We are pretty much on a full ship,I don't think that really matters, but u never know.
You made my day to know that if they want to put us all together, they can.

I'm glad I made your day!

The ship was fairly full (2700). Also--we had second seating dinner.

One other thing--we seemed to have an abnormaly LARGE amount of attention paid to us by the head waiter--perhaps because we were at the "big" table...?

are there tables for 4 and can we request not to be seated with anyone else?
not that we're anti-social or anything but we really don't like to eat with other people in situations such as these..........

There are tables for 4. These are the smallest tables offered in the regular dining rooms. You can request to be at a table for 4. Remember that it's a request and you might not get it, but I do think they really try to honor these requests.

My husband and I travelled alone and requested a table for 4. We were seated with a very nice couple about our own age. We got along with them very well. In hindsight, however, I would probably request a larger table next time so that if we didn't have something in common with one couple, there would be others to talk to as well.

HTH,
Julie
