If we've never done Hoop-De-Doo, Spirit of Aloha, or Mickey's BY BBQ, which one would you do and why? (Or would you use 2 credits on something else?) We have 2 sons, ages 7 & 5. Our trip is at the end of January...

Unless they REALLY love characters, I would HDD hands down. It is my favorite show. It is one the funniest things, and the food is great too. MBBBQ and SOA, in my opinion really are not that great. SOA is kinda boring in my opinion (except for the fire-dancer which rocks!!). MBBQ is good for the little ones to meet characters, and that about it. HDD is fun for everyone. Loads of fun, great actors and crowd interaction. It is one of the best things on property to me, a must on every trip!

I agree with pp that HDDR is a wonderful show. It's a must do for us every trip. We have done all three mentioned. And SOA is cute, but don't think your ds's would enjoy it as much as HDDR. MBYBBQ is also cute...but not worth the credits for what your getting. JMO....HDDR has both good food, fun atmosphere and a show that is great for all ages. :)

1) Dinner shows are a bad use of 2-TS coupons.
2) A real financial loss.
3) It is a better value to do OOP.

4) Based solely upon financial value/return, do not use DDP credits for
. . . any breakfast
. . . most lunches
. . . any character meal
. . . any dinner show

Out of the 3, we've only done the luau and we loved it. We thought the food was great and the show was cute (the fire dancers at the end were the best :goodvibes). Just be prepared for ALOT of different responses to all of them as everybody's opinions vary. I read many not-so-good reviews on the luau before we went, and if I let all the "bad" reviews sway us into not going, we would have missed out on a great evening. With that said, my advice is to look at what each one offers and decide what might appeal to you the most and go with that one :). Good luck!!!

Question regarding using the Dining plan. If it is bad financially to use it, and I choose to pay instead, do I need to call and make new reservations? I told them I was using my dining plan coupons when I booked SOA.

I understand not using the DDP for the others but why Character dinning, I thought that was a good deal.

Yes, because you will be charged for it. Also, you can pay for a diff. category seating.
