We are taking the 7 day eatsern cruise and I was wondering if anyone knew exactly how this dinner rotation thing worked. So they split the ship up and put them in the three restaraunts. Is there anyway to know which restaraunt you will be in before you get to your room. I want to make dinner reservations for Palos when we board the ship but I don't want to miss anything in the other restaraunts. If I had to choose which restaraunt should I skip for Palos?

You will know your dining rotation as soon as you check in at the port. It is printed on your KTTW card(s)

(P) = Parrot Cay

(L) = Lumiere's

(A) = Animator's Palate

Whichever letter appears first, that's your dining room the first night, and so on during the week. If your card says "PLAPLAP",
you start in Parrot Cay, then Lumiere's the next night, and so on.

Everybody has their own favorite restaurant and theming preferences. Some people like to go to Palo's on formal night, others may want to go on a night when they don't care to eat in a particular restaurant. It is entirely a matter of your own likes/dislikes. We will have the above mentioned rotation on our upcoming cruise, and we are going to Palo's on Wednesday, skipping Lumiere's, which is our least favorite restaurant.

Beano,

If we only find out our dinner rotation when we check in at the port, then how come you already know which rotation you are getting?! Did I miss something?!

MinnieCruiser - It's only because we have concierge for our next cruise, therefore they arranged for our requested rotation ahead of time. But normally you don't find out until you check in. If you are seriously displeased with the rotation you've been put on, you can request a change but it's not guaranteed they can do it for you. If you want to pre-book Palo's and assure a particular rotation, you need to book a concierge level stateroom.

BeanoC- Thanks for the info but why is Lumiere's your least favorite?

Holly - Lumiere's is nice but it is our least favorite because it is the most formal restaurant on the ship. We are very much "shorts and tshirts" kinda people when we vacation, so if we must skip a restaurant, Lumiere's (especially on formal night!) is the one we choose. I love the tropical ambience of Parrot Cay, and my wife, a Disney nut and artist, loves the animation theme and show in Animator's Palate. And our kids hate to get dressed up! So, by process of elimination, Lumieres comes in 3rd.

holly dolly : I like the dinner rotation of PLAPLAP the best. You are at Lumiere's on formal night, Parrot Cay for tropical night, and Animator's for semi formal night. We had this rotation on our last cruise and it worked out well. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, you are in formal wear for the capt. gala. I have called our TA who called DCL and requested this rotation for us. No it isn't set in stone that we will get this, but they do have it on record and will try their best. If you don't get the rotation you want, you can try to get it changed once you are on board.

Hope this helps! We have 28 days to go till our next DCL!!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

wildernessgirl is correct - but remember - formal and semi formal nights are DIFFERENT on the eastern and western itineraries!!

On the eastern, the formal 'Welcome Aboard' is Sunday, whereas it is Monday on the western. I believe the semi-formal is Thursday for both... the formal nights are always on at-sea nights.

I still think your best bet is probably PLAPLAP...
