We are staying at the RPR for 5 nights in August.

How do we go about making dinner reservations? Can I only book for the hotel or can I book for the Parks and Citywalk?

Is there an online system like WDW so I can see where is available?

You can use opentable.com

There is a food sticky that has lots of information that you might find useful.

You can try Opentable .com about 60 days prior to your trip. Some restaurants on Citywalk ( Bubba Gumps comes to mind) do not accept reservations.Be aware that some eateries (like mythos) often close well before the park does at certain times of year

Depending on where you want to eat, some reservations may be available now (on opentable.com). We're going in August as well, and already have ressies for dinner at Finnegan's (5:00), Mythos (4:30), Tchop chop (6:30), and Emeril's (12:00). There are a few restaurants in citywalk and the Luau that we're trying to get ressise for, and a pp is accurate, it seems as if you have to wait until 2 months prior for those. When I spoke to CS online, they told me that they do not take ressies until 30 days prior to your arrival for dining. I assume that they hold a number of "prime dining ressies" back from opentable (where we made all of ours so far) for those bookings, but that's just my opinion...not a verified fact. If I"m remembering what I've read correctly, you also have to call a different number for in-park ressies than you do for city walk ressies...

US restaurants: 407-224-FOOD (3613)
IOA restaurants: 407-224-4012
Citywalk: 407-224-FOOD (3613), but some restaurants, you have to call directly
Most hotel restaurants:407-503-DINE (3463), others, you may have to call directly

At least, this is what I've culled from my readings!! YMMV!

How does the hotel express pass work with the restaurants on city walk? We hope to eat at margaritaville but are reluctant to make a reservation since we have never been to universal and we have 6 nights of Disney dining reservations after universal.

It gets you the next available table for your party size a little faster, faster than other walk ups .But It does not bypass people with ressies.Depending on the time of year this could still be a decent wait for a table

Agreed ! We were at Universal before our Fantasy cruise. The kids wanted to eat at Margaritaville. It was a 45 min wait even with staying at the RPH. This was on a Thursday evening around 7:30 in April.

We passed the time quick. The kids walked around and DH and I sipped on some margaritas.
