Dinner Package or Not - Candlelight Processional on 12/30 at 8:15

Our first night of our trip will be 12/30. Once we realized that was the last night for Candlelight Processional, we decided to go to Epcot for the CP and then head to the MK for the late night fireworks. What are your thoughts on seating at the 8:15 program. Will we need the dinner package to get a seat?

I don't have too much experience with CP ... we did it once with a package but doubt that everyone lined up for a seat got one the night we went! The advantage to a package (and you used to be able to do a lunch too) is a guaranteed seat and you wont have to line up and wait for an hour or more to get one. We had great seats and arrived just about thirty minutes before the show. If having a meal at one of the restaurants is something you might do anyway I would go for it!

During non-peak times, I have lined up 60-90 minutes in advance just to get a seat in the front half of the theater WITH the dinner package. At that time of year, I would say that you need it...

We've been in EP over Christmas week and the lines for CP are super, super long (literally stretching throughout the mid-section of WS). If you don't have the package booked your chances of getting a seat without an incredibly lengthy wait are slim to none.

I would do the dinner pkg. We lined up at 3:30 for a 5:00 CP WITH a dinner pkg and we were far back in line(we wanted a good seat). I saw dining pkg people coming in shortly before show time and getting seated. But they only allow a limited amount of standbys in each show.

Thanks for the replies. We went a few years ago and were able to get in the 8:15 show without the package, but it was probably the 21st or 22nd of December. We have never been between around NYE, so know it will be busy. I have booked a package at Trattoria Al Forno at 5:30, so I doubt we will be able to get in line before 7:15ish. The girls are huge Grey's Anatomy fans and looking forward to it!
