Dinner options

On our last cruise, we were able to have dinner in Cabannas if we were late getting back to the ship on port days.
From what I've read, that is no longer an option?
For those who've had room service for dinner, how was the quality of the food?

We are thinking of booking a last minute cruise and not likely to get main dining seating and husband cannot eat late due to health issues so worried about getting stuck with pizza type items that he cannot have.
Trying to figure if there are any doable options.

No dinner at Cabanas.

Definitely get on the waiting list and go to wherever they are doing dining changes as soon as you get on the ship (varies by ship).

We like room service food - but usually the cheese tray and dessert. They have removed the sandwiches I used to really like. Soup has generally been bad.

You can also hit up the restaurants near the pool area. IIRC some close kind of early but if you time it right you could grab something there as well.
