On our first full day in the World, we'll be at the Magic Kingdom. My wife wanted standard American food, and I wanted something close by, so we chose the Concourse Steak House. But recently I've been reading so many threads that say the food isn't very good there. The problem is, we don't seem to have much choice if we stick with our original restrictions of American food close to the Magic Kingdom.

It's just DW and I. Should we try Liberty Tree Tavern, or is that pretty much the same quality food but with characters? Or is there some other way to go that I'm missing?

Check out the menu for Grand Floridian Cafe - I love it there!

(You can find menus at allearsnet.com)

How about a character dinner like chef mickey's or crystal palace. My husband and i are doing CM for the day we do Magic Kingdom.

Kona Cafe at the Polynesian has similar food, but it's much better

We just had a very good meal at the Concourse our fisrt day - August 27th. :thumbsup2 I would stick with it and not second guess at this point.

How about Narcoossee's and you can view the fireworks from there too. Nice atmosphere and a lovely resort it is close to MK too!

Have a great time

We loved Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. It is served family-style, and the food was excellent. The characters were also fun with their revolutionary-style clothing. We also loved Crystal Palace for breakfast, but haven't tried an evening meal there.

Try Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch. The food is much better than at dinner. The menu is ala carte, rather than family style(dinner). And no characters. Check out the menus at www.allearsnet.com if you are interested.

We just got back from Disney and ate at the Concourse Steakhouse. It was very good. Everything we ordered was excellent and the service was great. We love this place and try to go on every trip.

I agree with the suggestion above for the Grand Floridian Cafe. The food is just great and so is the service. We like to sit by the windows so we can look out on the beatiful GF grounds.

Our trip to Concourse was September of 05, but we loved it. The steaks were good and our waitress was just wonderful. Watching the monorail go by right above you is cool, too.

I'm sorry to say that our encounter at Concourse Steakhouse was not good! We dined there this past Feb. and thought the steak was average and the service was very poor. We did not enjoy it at all. We love Narcoossee's at the GF and dine there everytime we go to WDW. Other than that we dined at the LTT for dinner, and it was pretty good, nothing spectacular, but good.

Thank you for all the suggestions!

Since we are already booked for other days at many of the restaurants that were recommended, I guess we'll stick with Concourse and hope for the best. <keeping fingers crossed>

Thanks again, everyone! May your dining be delightful every time.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed right along with you. We also have ADRs for Concourse, but I've read enough good reviews about it that I'm gonna stick with it. Let us know how it was!

Hey OP, why don't you give the Plaza in the MK a try? Their food is simple and delicious and the Plaza has become a family favorite for us. Enjoy your trip! :thumbsup2

Lol, we're all throwing different ideas at you. I think we all named every restaurant in the area.

How about Ohana? They have 4 different meats, potatoes, and veggies...all you can eat.

If you want to stay in MK since you will already be there I would say either Liberty Tree or Crystal Palace. Both are character dinners and both have very good food. (I do like LTT better though..it is MMM MMM GOOD)!!!!

Our first meal at the Magic Kingdom in always at the Plaza Restaurant. It's always good!! It's become a tradition!!

:)
