DH and I are planning an evening without the kids. We'll be hitting the House of Blues. The last time we attemped to go there (after walking all across downtown disney in the rain) it was closed :(.

Anyhow, we'd like to do dinner as well. How's the food here? We are totally open to just "visiting" House of Blues and eating elsewhere.

Looking for some ideas.

Thanks!

if you are adventurous i would say BONGOS that is a must do for us on every trip.it is just DH and myself and we love it.

I second that! We also love Bongos! The food is great and the atmosphere is fun.

The last time I dined there, the food was fantastic. Hot & fresh and very good. I think you will really enjoy it! :jester:

House of Blues is our favorite restaurant in DD. We try to eat here at least once on every trip. There Jambalaya & meat loaf dinners are great. Try an order of there rosemary cornbread, it is really good.

We love the House of Blues for lunch and dinner. Be sure not to time your dinner with the end of CDS show or it will be much more crowded. Also ask for a table in the main dining room. The room off to the left side is like a little annex that gets so noisy you can't hear yourself think. It also is where they tend to put large parties and you feel as if you are intruding on someone else's party. Although we once ate dinner there (in annex room) when the main dining room was reserved for a large private party. We had a ball as they had hired the Blue's Brothers (from Universal Studios) to entertain. What a blast. Some nights they have musicians playing on the porch out front so the wait for a table can be very enjoyable. Another great place for a dinner for two is the Flying Fish on the Boardwalk. Food is great and its a fun atmosphere. A walk around the boardwalk to end the evening is just about perfect. Have fun.

franw,

At the risk of sounding stupid, whats the CDS Show?

What kind of food is served for dinner at House of Blues?

WOW, DH would have loved to see the Blues Brothers!!

YUM! :)

The Cirque du Soleil (I may have mangled the abbreviation) has afternoon shows and evening shows. If you get there before it lets out you can usually walk right in (except weekend evenings when the locals fill the restaurants). If you get there right after it lets out your wait can be quite long. I usually get the tenderloin for dinner and it is quite good. They also have lighter items and some cajun type food. If you want to catch the Blues Brothers they play daily at Universal Studios. It is the only reason we go to Universal once every few trips. They really look and sound like the original Blues Bros.

Thanks for the info FranW! Where at Universal do they play? How far is Universal from Disney? Only asking because we'd need to get a taxi.

Thanks a bunch!

I think it is about a 20 minute drive. You'd have to pay full park admission as they play a few times a day on what I believe is the replica of a New York City street. I'd be sure to call to make sure it isn't a day off for them as they probably don't work 7 days a week. The show is only about 20 minutes long but if you are a Blue's Bros. fan it is well worth it. I'm sure if you post an inquiry someone could tell you the cheapest way to get there, park discounts and probably even have a copy of the scheduled appearances. I thought I knew a lot about WDW and Universal until I found the Dis Boards. The experts put me to shame. The amazing thing is how much these guys actually look, sound and dance like the Blue's Bros. It is as if they are back with us for real. The audience, all ages, all nationalities, really love them. I guess the music and the movie had universal appeal. Plus so many people really loved John Belushi. If you go, have a ball.

Thanks for the info. I'll definately have to look into it.
